Prologue:
The moon hid behind clouds, a silver halo encapsulated in a mysterious fog. Aeri held the flowers close to her heart. The pitter-patter of raindrops drenched the streets. She hid behind the stalls as people passed by. They stopped to stare at her shivering but then continued on ahead. The world, though lost in a mist of rain, began to continue its diurnal rounds.
It was then that she noticed the man with the gun in his hand. He moved like a dark shadow, slippery and insidious. Aeri's heart skipped a beat. A surreal realisation of time enveloped her, as if she was trapped in invisible glue. Her body reached out to stop the man. At the end of the crowd, she saw Eunwoo in all his gamine glory. He wore a beige coat, and held a black umbrella over his head. The welt on his forehead had resided into a meaningless scar. He walked with no sense of direction, aimlessly wandering to find a place that cured his heart. But such a place did not exist. Nothing could replace what Eunwoo had lost.
The man with the gun pushed through the throng, screaming Eunwoo's name. He lifted his weapon. Eunwoo paused. Their eyes met. An echo of a gunshot. Aeri's earth-shattering scream. Eunwoo's tall body slamming to the ground. Crimson--it was everywhere. It slithered down the street like a river.
And that was when Aeri woke up, breaking in cold sweat.
That was the third time she had the same dream...
