Chapter 12
Letting Go (The Stray Kids Collection: Story #1)"Red?" Athena exclaims. "You're going to dye your hair red?"
As the days of summer continued on, Athena got to know Felix much better. He had an extremely bright personality and was very outgoing so Athena was not surprised to see this reflect in the colouration of his hair. When Felix first arrived his hair was a solid black colour that Athena found adorable (though she didn't tell him). That shade had faded into a brown and then was turned into a luminous blonde that Athena adored as well. She knew that Felix definitely wasn't going to settle with the colour for too long, yet somehow, she was still surprised when the boy asked if she'd go with him to get his hair dyed.
"Yeah, this blond's getting boring," Felix answers with a shrug.
"You've only been blond for a week and a half."
Felix shrugs again. "Are you going to come or not?"
"I'm busy," Athena says, waving a book in front of his face.
It was one of the rare times Athena left the inside of her house. She still felt uncomfortable going out (after the grocery incident, her mother never asked her to go out again) but she found that sitting on the front porch reading, and gardening in the backyard were the few things she could do without turning into a crying mess.
"Please? Please Athena? We can get ice cream after," Felix pleads.
Athena sighs. "You know ice cream's my weakness."
Felix laughs and grabs Athena's hand, pulling her up from her seat. She places the book gently on the porch steps and then unwillingly follows the excited boy down the street towards the hair salon.
