Title: Sunny's Silver Ring Necklace
Posted: 29 September 2014
Sunny lazily unlocked the door and made her way inside the silent dorm. Physically, she was not tired. She finished most of her musical schedules last month, leaving her with only her daily radio broadcasts. She enjoyed her broadcasts so much that she didn’t realize how fast time went by, and before she knew it, it would be her 100th day as a radio DJ. From her meeting with the radio staffs about a week before, they had a plan to celebrate the day with a viewable radio. Aside from getting to the salon to get her make-up and hair done, she was excited for the broadcast the next evening.
With a grunt, Sunny kicked her sneakers off of her feet and slipped them into her slippers. She knew Hyoyeon would scold her for being messy again, but she was just not in the mood for being tidy. While thinking about what kind of excuse she would give, she opened the door to her room, and saw the person she didn’t really wish to see.
Seeing the door opened, Taeyeon pulled her earphones off of her ears and greet her roommate. “You’re home?”
Not interested in engaging in any conversation, Sunny just gave a slight nod and threw her bag on the floor near her closet. After picking up some comfortable clothes for her to sleep in, she left the room, leaving Taeyeon with a questioning look on her face.
‘Annoyed’ wouldn’t even describe what Sunny was feeling. She hated to admit it, but she missed Taeyeon. Two months before, she was so busy with her trainings and concert that she spent most of her time resting. Almost three weeks before she finished her musical, and she thought she would finally had time to spend with her roommate. Yet, Taeyeon started to be busy with her preparation before TaeTiSeo comeback. That meant a lot of dance training, also vocal training and recording which eventually lead to irregular sleeping hours.
Because of her radio broadcasts, Sunny was getting used to sleeping late. She didn’t need to wake up early either, since she only need to prepare in the afternoon. But even that couldn’t help her in stealing some time with her dorky roommate. She only saw Taeyeon when she was sound asleep on her bed, and found it empty when she woke up hours later.
Sunny hated being so reliant to Taeyeon, even though they both somehow agreed that they both leaned on each other throughout their adolescence. Nevertheless, she still had some soft spot for the dork, and just spending time talking or eating patbingsoo with the March-born girl became therapeutic for her. Not getting enough time together meant losing her sanity bit by bit, and she hated that.
When Sunny walked into her room once more, already clad in her sleeping attire, she found Taeyeon sitting on her bed, her laptop and earphones neatly put away.
“You should sleep. You have an early schedule tomorrow.”
“I do, but not early in the morning. I miss talking to you, Soonkyu.”
Seeing Taeyeon gave a curt smile made Sunny’s stomach churn, but hid it by keeping a stoic expression. “Oh.”
Taeyeon pat the space next to her, leaning on the wall to sit comfortably. At that point, she couldn’t say no, yet secretly happy that Taeyeon made time to talk to her, when she could just rest to prepare for the recording in the morning.
“So, do you enjoy being a DJ so far?” Taeyeon started, after making sure that Sunny was sitting comfortably.
“It’s fun, I can meet a lot of people, talking about various things. I love it,” Sunny ended her ‘diplomatic’ answer with a smile, not wanting to say anything about her 100th broadcast just yet.
“Meeting potential lovers as well?” Taeyeon wiggled her eyebrows, making Sunny laugh. The thing that she loved about talking to Taeyeon was that there was no boundary between them. They could talk about anything, without getting bored or offended in the process.
“You could say that. I know you did,” Sunny replied, and it was Taeyeon’s turn to laugh. She knew Taeyeon had briefly dated some of the people she met when she was still a DJ few years ago. It was also the reason why she volunteered to be a permanent guest in the radio show, to keep her eyes on people close to her. She knew it was creepy for her to ‘intimidate’ people who even tried to get close to her roommate, but she couldn’t stand the idea of Taeyeon getting hurt over people who didn’t deserve her heart. In the end, she was the one who had to console the older girl when she broke up with them.
“How about you? How’s the preparation for the comeback?”
“Tiring, but everything is going well so far. I’m still nervous about the comeback though, even though it’s still about a month away.”
And just like that, Sunny’s defense broke down and their conversation flowed smoothly. Sunny talked
