Taecyeon stared out his window, looking towards the horizon of the setting sun. The orange and pink streaks in the sky swirled to form a beautiful painting. He grinned at the sun setting sky, but then let out a heavy sigh.

His mind had been spinning with many thoughts. Thoughts that couldn't be spoken.

He remembered that day perfectly. The day that broke his heart to pieces. The day that his best friend revealed something he wished he didn't hear. It was when she told him that she had a new beau.

 

Taecyeon walked up to her front door and rang the bell, hearing the cheerful chime in his head. He smiled.

But his smile widen as the door opened and his best friend appeared before him with a simple day out outfit. It made her look ten times more beautiful than she already was. Seeing her bright eyes and smile brought out the beauty in her.

Taecyeon had his hands in his pockets as he cleared his throat. "Wow. You look great."

Jessica blushed at his comment. "Thanks, Taec. Are you ready to go?"

Taecyeon nodded. "Of course I am. Are you ready?"

She repeated his nod. "Yes. Let's go." She closed her front door with her bag in hand and a happy look on her face. She immediately grabbed his hand to his shock and dragged him to his car.

Taecyeon drove off and went to their favorite restaurant for lunch.

The two of them chatted comfortably before Jessica cleared .

"Taec," she began. "There's something I need to tell you."

"What is it?" Taecyeon asked her as he patted his mouth with his napkin.

"Look, I know we're best friends and all, but I don't want to put you in an uncomfortable spot."

"Where is this going, Jess?" Taecyeon asked with suspicious eyes.

Jessica grabbed his hand and gave him a serious face. "I have a boyfriend."

Taecyeon's mind froze. His heart felt like exploding at that moment. "What?"

"I'm in a relationship, Taec. I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier, but we've been dating longer than you probably think," Jessica said to him while biting on her bottom lip.

Taecyeon pulled his hand back gently before looking at her again. "You really have a boyfriend?"

"Yes," she responded with a nod.

"Wha-what's his name?" Taecyeon stuttered on the question.

"His name is Kris," she told him. "He's a person I met on my trip to China with my family. He apparently lives here in California. We just happened to be on the same flights as one another. He told me he was from Canada."

Taecyeon gulped his saliva that formed in his mouth, but his throat still felt dry. "Are you really crazy about this guy?"

Jessica nodded with a wide smile. "He's like a perfect description of a great boyfriend. He's super kind and handsome. He looks tough on the outside, but he actually is very pure and naíve. I really like that kind of guy."

Taecyeon bit on his tongue to avoid anything his mouth would backtalk. "That sounds like a great guy, Jess. I'm very happy for you," he lied with a fake smile on his face.

Jessica's eyes twinkled. "Really, Taec? You're not upset that I didn't tell you?"

"Of course not," he said
