GIRL
My heart picked up its pace as I watched each pair get done on stage. No one could blame me; Sehun and I still hadn't discussed anything! I had been nudging him, coughing purposely and trying to initiate a conversation for the last three hours, but still, he refused to talk to me. How in the world are we supposed to get it right if we wouldn't be in sync? Aish.
Kris and Jieun suddenly stood up and it alarmed me how close our turn was getting. Every next five pairs were told to sit at the front so the audition flow would be smooth, and now Kris and Jieun were five numbers away.
"We'll see you later," Jieun said. Kris nodded, and together, they left.
"Sehun," I tried once more, leaning to my silent seatmate. "Our turn is close now. You might wanna tell me the big plan if you have one."
"Act," he said, his voice barely audible. "Act as best as you can." Then he looked at me. "I'll try my best to, um, lead, okay?"
Act as best as I can? I just looked at him, not knowing how. And then knowing I have no choice, I nodded at him. "Okay. I'll trust you then."
He gave me the smallest hint of a smile before he looked away.
After that, everything passed even faster. By the time it was Kris and Jieun's performance, Lu Han and his pair, and Sehun and I were at the waiting seats at the front. Kris and Jieun were hilarious. For some reason, they both sang Feel This Moment.
"One day when the light is glowing, I'll be in my castle golden," Drank Jieun started singing the moment the professor was done reading their act. "But until the gates are open, I just wanna feel this moment."
"Oh, woaah-oh. I just wanna feel this moment," Drunk Kris joined in. "Oh, woaaah–" he suddenly stopped and squinted in front of him. They were at the center of the stage and were facing each other.
Since we're given nothing else besides the gist of the act, I was guessing Kris was seeing his imaginary post instead of Jieun.
"Heeey, you're not clapping," Kris slurred, pointing at the air.
Drunk Jieun who had been singing along swayed in agreement. "Yeah, clap!"
"Oh, woaaah-oh." Kris sang again, and then when their imaginary audience slash post still didn't clap, he started kicking it. "Baddie." Drunk Kris kicked the post. "Claaap."
"Meanie." Jieun followed it with her own, their foot missing each other by mere seconds.
I can't believe I'm seeing this. I wish I had my phone for pictures but I left it in my bag which was on our original seats.
"Oh, woaaah-oh." Their foot collided after a couple of kicks, sending them on the floor, out of balance. Both looked as if they had been splashed with water.
"Oh," Jieun mumbled, blinking up.
Kris scratched his head and looked around as if just realizing there really was no post. "Mr. Post is gone."
Jieun shrugged and stood up, swaying. Kris mirrored her action.
"What now?" Drunk Jieun asked.
Drunk Kris shrugged, and then sang again. "Oh, woaaah-oh."
"I just wanna feel this moment." Jieun linked her arm through his and together, they staggered out of the stage, their voices accompanying them.
Everybody laughed and clapped. It was thunderous.
Two performance later, it was Lu Han and his partner's turn. The audience quieted again and looked on excitedly.
Lu Han went up and his partner, the girl, went backstage. Lu Han lay on the floor and closed his eyes as if he was sleeping. Seconds later, the girl emerged on the stage, dancing ballet towards him. She was so graceful you could almost imagine the music that went with her dancing. She danced around Lu Han and he awoke, his eyes fluttering open. Lu Han stopped short, his eyes widening as he focused on her. Slowly, he got up and danced with her, a smile on his face.
By the way Jieun teased Lu Han about ballet a while ago, I had thought it would be funny to look at. It didn't look funny at all. Their moves looked so graceful I couldn't take my eyes off them. Their dance was so in sync it was impossible they hadn't practiced it beforehand. And you could totally feel Lu Han's emotions, especially his longing, through his eyes which never left the girl's.
The girl gradually slowed down, eventually stopping. Lu Han looked confused when he noticed it. The girl sadly smiled and turned around, walking away without turning back. Lu Han reached one hand out as if he couldn't move. His expression looked so sad it was agonizing to look at. Finally giving up, he lay back down on the floor, going back to sleep, his face stained with tears.
Then his partner returned and together, smiling, they bowed. The theater went mad with cheering.
The next pair went up to the stage. My heart began to race again. Dang, we were next.
"Sehun?" I didn't expect him to resp
