Original prompt: instead of fake dating, everyone is convinced you aren’t actually dating

There are a handful of parking spots in front of the hospital that are reserved for head of departments and surgeons all with designated nameplates. In the one that says Bae Irene, a 10 year old grey sedan doesn’t make an appearance, it’s an expensive blue Porsche Cayenne S with the licence plate WENDY 1.

A few residents, nurses, and staff stop to stare at this occurrence because Dr. Bae is notorious for having security remove vehicles without any hesitation and leaving terror in her wake of a terrible start to her morning. Everyone wants to know why a car that obviously belongs to Dr. Son Wendy is pulling into Dr. Bae’s spot. 

The car turns off quickly and Irene hops out of the car, closing the door with a bit of force. Irene opens up the backseat and pulls out her backpack. On the other side, Dr. Son Wendy slips out of the car with ease and is a bit more forgiving to her car as she shuts the door. Unlike Dr. Bae, Wendy has her purse and white coat in her hand while haphazardly balancing a thermos on top of a stack of books. 

Everyone watches as they walk towards the hospital, gravitating towards each other. Even though they walk side by side, Irene doesn’t bat an eyelash at Wendy, doesn’t offer to help with carrying anything, doesn’t make conversation that the resident is being precarious with her drink. Wendy also doesn’t pay attention to Irene because she has her focus entirely on her phone.

“That’s so scary,” a nurse from the emergency room points out as the couple make it to the entrance. “I can’t imagine living with Dr. Bae, she’s so cold and emotionless. It must be unbearably stifling in their home.” Irene looks like she’s glaring as she holds the door open for Wendy because she doesn’t have enough hands to catch the door.

“Don’t forget, they’re married now,” a young resident points out as shivers run down his spine. “Imagine being in a marriage with Dr. Bae, she doesn’t love anything.” 

“Aw, that’s so sad to think of, why did you have to put it like that?” 

“Because I think of poor Dr. Son and what she has to deal with.”

SMACK

The gossiping couple is startled. The young resident recoils from the smack at the back of his head. 

Sooyoung stands there with a rolled up manila folder. “Go do your rounds!” she scolds. “You have time to gossip but don’t have time to write orders when I need you to!” She threatens to kick him when he and the nurse immediately run towards the building. “Jerks…” She watches as Wendy safely gets into the building before Irene lets the door close behind them. Sooyoung sees how Irene pauses inside the doorway, watching as Wendy makes her way towards the ER before she takes her leave. “As usual.” 

The day goes relatively smoothly. In fact, Irene is having a great day. Surgery is going well so she has a brief moment to sit down and eat. She prefers to do it in her office where it is away from people and very peaceful. 

The tteokbokki she packed smells amazing as she pulls it from the microwave and goes to sit at her desk to eat. 

“Dr. Bae, are you busy?” Hani, one of her OR nurses, timidly asks from the doorway.
