Soaked in the Rain
The spring breeze caressed my hair as I scanned the towering buildings surrounding the city. I sighed deeply, releasing several puffs of vapor due to the cold weather. My knuckles turned white, gripping tightly unto the banisters of the balcony. Averting my gaze from the city lights and congested traffic a few floors below me, I looked up and noticed the blanket of stars and the full moon.
‘How unusual,’ I thought.
Stars don’t appear here frequently, and here they were, twinkling from afar. I reached out my hand, trying to catch the brightest star I’ve seen, but I couldn’t.
‘You’re like a star, my love. I thought you’re within my reach, but you’re a distant light from a faraway place. You’re the brightest star in my night sky but sadly, you are twinkling for someone else’s galaxy.’

I was cut off from my dreamy state when everyone at the table looked at me with curious eyes.
“Nothing,” I managed to reply without stuttering.
“Since everyone is here, let’s eat,” you suddenly announced, making our friends pay attention to the food neatly placed on the table.
I sighed, picking up my chopsticks off the table. ‘That was close,’ I thought. I was too engrossed in eating and calming my rapid heartbeat to notice you staring at me intently.

I walked along the cobblestone pathway. After dinner, I left. I told the others, of course. I told everyone but you.
I chuckled bitterly at the memory and resumed kicking some stones on the pathway before I made my way to the city park. I sat at my favorite spot, the abandoned swing, before I hugged my coat closer to my body, the cold spring air engulfing my figure.
“Eunbi-unnie!” I heard someone yell.
I turned around and saw my favorite person. It was you.
“Chaeyeon? What are you doing here?” I asked, trying so hard to prevent the smile from creeping up my l
