Chapter 3
Kwon Eunbi Answers Letters
Dear Hii-chan,
Hii-chan! Yes, it has been so long! Business is evil as always but the life of a CEO is so far so good! How about you, dear? How is life? I'm sorry I can't be there at your concert last month even though you'd sent me a ticket… No, it's not because I'm forgetting you. And no, it's not because I'm starting to feel my age. I'm only six years older than you and not yet thirty, cheeky bread.
Also, don't worry about your writing! Your writing is still neat and adorable as it always been. Don't worry about your Korean, too! I can understand them perfectly well. I know you feel your Korean is rusty but it's okay, my Japanese is rusty too so we're even!
If you don't mind me asking, Hii-chan: why did you start to write me a handwritten letter?
Dear Hii-chan,
No! Your letter is not boring! In fact, they brighten my days and I enjoy reading your previous letter.
But out of curiosity, why did you write it to me and not Chaewon? Is this a trend I'm not aware of?
I don't mind receiving your future letters, but please do not address it to my office. Thank you.
Hii-chan,
I did not say it's a bother, I just thought it might be inappropriate for personal letters to be delivered to my office. I don't want my secretary to accidentally open up some sort of private things.
And what is that picture? Is that a baby porridge? Looks ghastly, I'd say.
Hii-chan,
Oh.
Dear Minjoo,
When Hitomi attached your photo to her letter it didn't cross my mind that it was, in fact, a risotto you made for Hitomi. I sincerely apologize for insulting the appearance of your cooking. I believe we shouldn't judge a book by its cover and if Hitomi said it's good then I will believe her and say your risotto is good. Although, is it supposed to be a bit burned on the sides?
I'm looking forward to you sending me your homemade meals. Just don't follow Chaewon's recipe and you're good.
I apologize again and please stop flooding my inbox with vehemently worded letters or should I contact your manager to take your mail privilege?
