The results came out and she was rank 6 and Jaehyun was rank 2. she was happy enough with her results but she wasn’t sure if her parents would be happy with that. She was lucky because her parents didn’t come to take the results with her. So, she was with Jaehyun and his mom.

“Awhh baby, it’s good enough~” Mrs. Jung said giving her a hug and she almost broke down crying. Jaehyun noticed how teary her eyes were and he mentally hit himself. “Thank you auntie. Couldn’t do it better if it wasn’t for Jaehyun,” Jaehyun cleared his throat at the back and his mom chuckled. “Jaehyun didn’t do anything. I bet you study better without him,” his mom teased and Jaehyun whined.

“Anyways, imma let you kids enjoy your day but don’t come home late mister,” she looked at Jaehyun and he playfully saluted. “Yes, Ma’am!”

Mrs. Jung hugged both of them and ruffled Hayeon’s hair. “Remind me about our dinner later,” she winked before walking to her car. Jaehyun sneakily wrapped his arm around her waist and waved goodbye to his mom. “If only your parents approve us,” he sighed but still waved at his mom until she left.

Right when the car was out of the side, she hugged him tightly. “Jaehyuuuuunn,” she cooed, jumping up and down. “Thank you soo soo soo much!!!” she repeated that over and over again and he could hear her sobbing and he hugged her tighter. “Awwhh~ finally she cried.” he snuggled her. “I saw your eyes when my mom hugged you. I swear to god you’re the softest being ever,” he lifted up her face and pecked her lips. “you did super well,”

She sobbed and buried his face in his chest again. That was until, her phone rang violently in her jacket’s pocket. “Give me a minute,” she said and answered the call which was from her parents.

“hi dear. Can you come to the restaurant we always go? I want you to meet Minho.”

And all hell broke opened.

Jaehyun went back home which surprised his mom. Mrs. Jung was scrolling her social medias when Jaehyun pushed the door so hard, it banged so hard against the wall. “Oh my god, Jaehyun what is wrong with you?”

“I got rejected by her parents.” he said as he slammed the door closed. Mrs. Jung looked at her son and smiled. “I’m actually offended that my son got rejected. Tell me when you’re ready to go with the plan,” she said calmly and resumed on reading her articles. Jaehyun sighed and entered his room. He couldn’t help but to keep on replaying her expression when she had to leave for the dinner.

She literally hates it.. he said to himself and plopped on the bed. He honestly want to crash the dinner but he knew better. That’s not the proper way to have someone’s daughter. He inhaled deeply and slowly exhaled, relaxing himself. He looked at the wall clock and it was almost 9 pm.

When she left, Jaehyun decided to walk around to calm himself but obviously it was close to useless. He took out his phone and saw a message just came in.

I need you but

I cant meet you

don’t make it sound as if I cant

Come to u right there and right now

Jaehyun..

I don’t want to do this anymore

What the do u mean?

don’t give up yet

I am not going to and u shouldnt feel that way!

Im scared…

Jaehyun’s phone rang and he quickly answered the call. She was sobbing on the other line. “Hey.. hey.. don’t cry..” he tried to calm her down. “I just hate how they never want to see me happy..” she said, sobbing. Jaehyun sighed and leaned against his bed. “what does that guy have that I don’t?” he wasn’t so sure if he was questioning himself or questioning her.

Hayeon actually chuckled softly and sobbed again. “Well, it’s because my parents know his parents well and acted as if they know the guy as well.. Minho. His name is Minho.”

Jaehyun clicked his tongue at the mention of his name. He let out a long groan and sighed. “Should I have a one to one dinner with your dad and convinced him about me? He really did questioned me a lot and I felt threatened.” Jaehyun said, remembering the day that they had dinner together. He was indeed scared but he won’t back down. He knew that he was the perfect partner for Hayeon.

“i honestly do not know Jaehyun. I want to try and talk things out with him again. Convince him again..” she said Jaehyun nodded, even tho she couldn’t see it. “It’s okay baby. We’ll find ways. I will find ways.”

Jaehyun had to follow his dad to the office that day because he will soon going to be working there too while waiting for the university to accept him. It was during the lunch break where he got all overwhelmed with his issues with Hayeon’s family. He got her father’s number through his mom and texted him. Politely asking him for a lunch together. Maybe a guy to guy talk would work..

To be honest, he didn’t expect the man to reply him on the same day but Mr. Byun actually replied to him and agreed for a lunch on the same day. Apparently their office were quite near with each other so he offered to go to the nearest restaurant. Jaehyun, without hesitating, agreed and went out. He told his dad that he would be a bit late but he will make sure to be back as soon as possible.

It had been days since Hayeon and him meet each other and honestly, she had been sounding so sad and worried, it worried him a lot. Jaehyun drove to the restaurant to meet Mr. Byun. He wasn’t so sure on how to convince him but he just want to say something.

The restaurant looked fancy and he honestly had been there quite a number of times. He parked and entered the restaurant. He left his suit inside and only wore his blue shirt with his tie. Jaehyun searched around for Mr. Moon and when the two made an eye contact, Mr. Byun smiled.

“You made it,” Mr. Byun said and Jaehyun bowed to him before taking a seat. “So what brings you to ask me to lunch together with you?” he asked and Jaehyun just smiled. “ Just.. want to talk to you about Hayeon, sir..” Jaehyun said softly. He swore he felt he was sweating hard under his shirt. “I just.. don’t understand why… Hayeon had to be with the guy instead of someone who knows her..”

Mr. Byun smiled when Jaehyun wasn’t looking but when he does, he kept his face as straight as usual. “Well, I know Minho and his potentials to be my son-in-law. I don’t really know you and she doesn’t talk a lot about you. How can I know you’re the best for my daughter?”

Jaehyun was a little taken back by the question. It’s true. He knew she doesn’t talk about him to his parents. “Tell me why should I accept you..”

“It’s… Hayeon and I knew each other since the longest time. You knew me before until.. I guess, she lied about me moving away. I didn’t it was just because she doesn’t want to be friends with guys but I insisted and we’re friends until today. She honestly was a turning point in my life. At first, my goal was to protect her because she saved me once and it changed my life but now.. I want to protect her because its her who changed my life. Not the action that she did.. “ Jaehyun couldn’t help but to smile at the thoughts when they were younger.

“I know I’m too young to settle things down.. but I just want your blessings so me and her can date without hiding anything. To be honest, I’m confident with future life because I know where I’m going to work after I graduate.. even right now.. but I know at the end of the day, it will be the blessings that we seek for..”

“That’s why I wanted to meet you, sir..”
