There was someone specific that Taeyeon wanted to be with on the cold winter night. Never in her life had she been able to experience bringing in the new year with a lover before. Not only because she was constantly busy, but because there was no one close enough to her heart to share such a special moment with. But now there was Baekhyun. It was their first full year together as not just a couple, but as lovers. In the year that had now past, they had made it through multiple barriers and hardships together. But despite all of the harsh hatred or disappointing shame, their feelings for each other remained stronger than those things. They had made it through so much that year.
But the only thing they could do to share those accomplishments was stand on the same stage and avoid each other’s eyes. For if they even dared to speak to each other, the new year would begin with another onslaught of rage and animosity. And even though there was a backstage, they were forbidden to leave for any reason unless they were performing or on stage with other artists. And it felt almost as if her manager had placed that rule specifically for her. A small part of her was grateful for even being able to see his handsome smiling face through the sea of people on stage. But a larger part of her was bitter that she could not even wish him a happy new year without bringing danger to them.
