Minah looks identical to her face claim, with the only change being that she has a long scar on her back from where she was cut as child during an attack made on her family. The scar is faint from always being covered - but it still very obvious in states of undress.

Minah has always tended towards pastel colors because her mother once commented that pastels fit her skin tone well. When pairing a pastel, she will always wear contrasting pastels, or white. She has a pair of pearl earrings her mother passed down to her, and she wears her mother's wedding ring on it. She prefers to not wear makeup or any additional accessories. Minah is one of those people that the person you see on the outside is just a shell, a hardened exterior meant to keep people away. Because of that, she is often considered aloof, ruthless and cunning - always looking for for the next leg up in whatever tactic she is currently running. Minah's father met her mother when he first became an officer in the army. Her mother was a shopkeeper's daughter and they fell in love almost overnight. They were clearly soulmates and it didn't take them long to get married. Hajoon went away to his first engagement and her mother fretted the whole time. Hajoon returned unscathed, but they decided right then to start trying for children. It took them several time tries before a pregnancy came to frutition.
Minah was a miracle, to say the least. Hajoon went to war again when she was two and her mother did her best to keep Minah's father's memory alive for the toddler. He returned, battered with a war injury, but Minah and her mother nursed him back to health.
Minah's father slowly rose through the ranks of the army, and they finally produced a second child - Minah's little sister, Minyoung. But the happy family wouldn't remain happy for long. When Minah was 10, her family had been travelling to the capital city from visiting her father's encampment when they were attacked. Her father was able to fight off the attackers, but not until after her mother and sister had been brutally murdered, and Minah severely injured.
Minah and her father returned to the captial city and he was raised to be a general which allowed him to stay in the city now that he was the sole guardian of Minah, he needed to be close. Minah is extremely close to her father, despite the fact that she is a girl and her father is the commander of the Imperial Army. That could be due to the fact that her father never had any sons and has no intention of ever marrying again. This has drawn them even closer and she followed her father to all of his training. He's the one who taught her how to sword fight and the one person who can defeat her tactics. He isn't happy someone entered Minah in the contest and is certain there's a politican or two behind it.

Mirae has been Minah's best friend as long as they can both remember. Her mother, Dasom, was her mother's maid, and Mirae became Minah's as soon as they both hit the age of 8. They are nearly inseperable, so when Minah was chosen, Mirae was selected to be her companion maid to the palace.
