My 2017 Goals

If you're from the Philippines, I'm pretty sure you know who I am going to talk about. There's this very popular author here who writes romance and she has over one million followers. Sometimes her chapters trend in twitter. I'm planning to become like her. To be honest, I kinda had mixed feelings about her. Maybe it's because I was used to watching too many k-dramas or reading angsty novels so I don't get the hype of her stories. Or maybe I was also jealous (?).

But as I write here in aff, I came to know the joy of writing. I may be somewhat new here, but I have already experienced the great joy of receiving beautiful praises from your readers. So I decided to follow the way of the previous author I mentioned. I heard that when she was starting to just write (which was back then in 2012), she used to update everyday. And someone personally told me that the reason why I feel so unfulfilled sometimes was due to the reason that I don't write that often. So in this glamorous year of 2017, I plan to write as many things as I can. (Because damn, new stories are adding up in my mind, it's crazy).

Therefore, here are my plans:

  • I predicted that Be My Last Breath- following the posting sched of Wed and Fri every week and less than fifty chapters- will be completed by the beginning of May. I will try to complete the manuscript by Febraury so I can work in somethinng else.
  • If Stay Still will have only thirty chapters and is updated every Monday, it will be completed by the second week of July. I will also try to finish the manuscript by April.
  • Finish The Lost Souls in a month or two, either May or June.
  • Then, I'd either choose to write the first book of Repetition Trilogy or choose to write Two-Faced, and complete the story by August.
  • By October, I plan to finish a story that does not really focus on romance. Instead it has romance in the backtrack. It's like a coming-of-age story where the girl will learn to love herself, and title it Worth It. (This one's bugging me too much. I have been itching to write this every since)
  • To finish the year, I think writing a psychological slash thriller fanfic or a fantasy one will be great.
  • Create two or three one-shots.

If I follow my plan, I'd be able to have six completed chapters. I feel like I'm going to be really tired by then but it will all be worth it (pun intended). You know, BTS has inspired me to do this. There was a line in We Are Bulletproof pt.2 which goes, "When you guys partied, I gave up sleep for my dreams." It's also referenced in Dope. My main dream might be to become a doctor, yet the thought of sharing my insights and messages through writing them into stories and becoming friends with my readers is like hitting the jackpot in the lotto for me. Those past years has been stagnant for me and I do not want to waste time anymore. I want to give up sleep for my dreams, too.

My ultimate challenge for myself is to write and finish a story in a month (which is like, writing a chapter per day). This way, I'd have twelve stories at the end of the year, but I know its me being delulu again because obviously I'm lazy and school is draining me so much.
