Chapter Four

LOVE

The angel with no wings looked beautiful to him and he couldn't doubt it. The Delphian heir had dark hair and a skinny body and near the same height for someone older than him by two or three years than him.

The boy was smiling brightly and beautiful, which showed his dimples. His nice light tanned skin glowed beautifully and Kangin could swear the skin was smooth. The boy defined beautiful and to Kangin, the boy was a child of a goddess and angel which in the end made sense since the boy was one to him.

He felt so shy that his mother had to enter the room with her husband and introduce Kangin while Yesung got to introduce himself. As for Kangin, after his parents had cleared up his introduction, he had cleared his throat and shyly.

You definitely blew it, Kangin said to himself during dinner.

He hated how he felt so out of place. He didn't feel right being in this room with this angel. He felt like the Beast from the story that children read years and years ago before the Asian Commonwealth was built. He bet even those children weren't out of place.

He didn't know why, but as he ate he felt a pair of eyes on him. He knew it was his mother who was pitying him obviously. Who couldn't? She was the only one who knew about how he felt for the Delphian Prince.

He smiled to himself when he heard the parents of his crush compliment and comment about their son. He was happy to know what he achieved so much and was even smiling wider when Leeteuk seemed so flattered by his parents words.

When the Delphian Queen had arrived with her husband and son, Yesung's words had come directly back to him. Kangin easily noticed the visible bump on the woman's stomach. She was indeed with child. Kangin hadn't really believed so, especially when his brother said so, but now he saw it. Strangely, every time his parents brought up about the new prince, the couple dismissed the topic.

Perhaps they wanted to wait and somehow surprise people that are already aware of the baby's soon arrival?

Kangin had headed off to the garden while his and Leeteuk's parents were speaking together, and Yesung was brave enough to show the Delphian Prince Kibum who had slept the whole evening. Kangin wandered off and as he did, he heard a woman's voice. He raised an eyebrow and followed the woman's voice.

To his surprise, it sounded a bit like Queen Park Ji Ling. He knew he was probably hallucinating since he knew the woman was inside with his parents and her husband. But, being a sneaky child, Kangin got closer to the voice and hid behind a white rose bush.

“This...this was a mistake, I know it was." The woman's voice was clear to Kangin and he could swear it was the Delphian Queen. It was her voice, it had to be. “I...I want nothing to do with it!"

The tone of her voice made Kangin flinch. Her voice was loud and she seemed very angry and upset. What was it she didn't want? He hated how he felt the eager to know more, and even though his parents had taught him to not eavesdrop...He couldn't help but wonder what it was that the queen resented. It was obviously not something she loved or wanted just by the tone of her voice and her choice of words. Calling the thing it was how to put something you never wanted for sure.

He turned pale and looked terrified when he felt a finger touch his left shoulder and a small soft, “Hi" was heard from behind him. He had thought it was caught, and maybe he was, but if he were or weren't, he still wished he wouldn't have to face the angel.

He would've liked it better if it were an adult. Now, he was staring at the most beautiful person on Earth...and it wasn't even a woman he was looking at. A boy with feminine looks and an angel from out and within. No wonder he fell for the beauty.

He swallowed hardly and smiled nervously and stammered on his words. “H-hi..." He couldn't even say a whole sentence, which for sure already blew his chance in ever having a good conversation with the boy.

Leeteuk placed a hand over his mouth and giggled, his smile and dimples were visible. Kangin couldn't believe how anyone could be so beautiful and angelic. There's only one person he'll ever find like that perfectly...and that was the one he truly had feelings for.

“You're cute!" Leeteuk claimed, putting his hand down and his smile shining brighter than ever. Kangin died right there in front of the boy.

I'm...he thinks I'm cute, Kangin thought in surprise. Only his mother called him cute, and here he was...the boy with his crush who was calling him cute. How could this day get...any delighting?

Kangin plastered a small smile on his face and relaxed his shoulders and blinked a couple times before speaking, “You...you're really pretty." He didn't expect himself to say such things.

He got worried as he noticed the latter's silence and him continuously blinking. Maybe now was the time to ask his turtle loving brother to dig him a grave and write on the tombstone to how he died of embarrassment and humiliation.

And he thought everything was going so well until he had to say something that was obviously unexpected and likely uncalled for. What boy who'd turn into a man would like to be called pretty?

“Thanks," Leeteuk replied with a smile and soft voice. Kangin was surprised to how calm and relaxed the other sounded. He wouldn't be surprised at all if the latter had grabbed him by his collar and beat him up.

Kangin blinked a couple times before letting out another word, “Um...so...did you see Bummie?" He felt a little more relaxed and safe to speak to the latter since Leeteuk accepted his compliment.

Leeteuk tilted his head in confusion, “Bummie?"

Kangin chuckled. Yesung probably didn't tell him the nickname they had made up for their baby brother. “A nickname for Kibum."

Leeteuk's face was plastered with a sweet smile and he seemed even more relaxed as he spoke, “Ah...baby brothers? Oh, I can't wait to have my sibling! I just can't."

Kangin quirked his eyebrows and blinked a couple more times, “You want a younger sibling?"

Leeteuk's eyes sparkled, which made Kangin die in happiness. “Oh yes! I hate being the only child! Having a sibling would be amazing, older or younger. But I just...I can't wait. Having someone besides a friend by your side...I believe it feels amazing to have a sibling."

Kangin chuckled and rolled his eyes, “I've got two. Yesung was a bit of a handful at first, and Bummie can  be a little fussy when he wants...ugh, younger brothers."

He felt an electric shock when Leeteuk sat down and placed his hand on top of his. He had no idea how this had all happened. He felt so invisible to Leeteuk, and now he was having a full on conversation with him.

He would've never believed he'd be able to go this far in ever having a conversation with his crush. Even though the latter had no idea to how he felt or perhaps would never feel the same way, even this felt fine to Kangin.

Leeteuk was happy, and so was he

“Having a younger sibling would be amazing...I can't wait until umma is due!" Leeteuk squealed in happiness. A thought flashed into Kangin's mind.

The two were outside in the garden where Queen Ji Ling had been resenting the thing she didn't want...what was it she didn't want, Kangin wondered. But somehow, Leeteuk's words had got him thinking deeply. The woman's words repeated in his head clearly, too clear.

This...this was a mistake, I know it was. I...I want nothing to do with it!

It...could it be...none other than her position in life? But she was the Queen of Delphia...what Delphian woman wouldn't want to be the queen? Maybe not all women wanted the fame and money, but...the big responsibilities and time to prove to people a woman could rule too? Perhaps she liked neither?

But...maybe it wasn't even her being queen or her position? It'd be make no sense to call it to her husband, that's if she didn't love him. For a second, he heard the word shouting in his head, and he didn't even want to dare to think of it. Perhaps...it wasn't her husband or being queen...but it was...the child in her? Or her children?

Who wouldn't want Leeteuk as their child? He was a very pretty boy, and he seemed pretty responsible too. From what Kangin heard of his angelic crush, he believed the boy would be an amazing ruler once the time came.

As for the unborn child inside of Queen Ji Ling, no one could guarantee the child would be perfect, but every child was a new beginning and joyous moment. Kangin brushed the thought off since he believed he was wrong.

No one would want to abandon a child like Leeteuk...nor a child who hasn't even been brought into this world yet.

“Kangin ah...Kangin ah, can you hear me?" He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the boy's words and remembering where he was.

He smiled and turned to the boy directly and chuckled nervously, “Sorry about that...it was all my fault."

Leeteuk giggled and shook his head, “Don't blame yourself! You're perfectly fine." How he'd love to hear this voice every night and morning, every moon and sun.

“Oh...okay," Kangin said with a brightened smile.

Leeteuk wrinkled his nose and shrugged, “I saw you at dinnertime...were you okay?"  Kangin seemed confused to what Leefeuk was talking about.

“Huh?"

“You seemed a little down and I couldn't help but stare during the whole time...I hope I didn't make you feel uncomfortable...ugh, that was so rude of me! I'm so sorry..." His angel apologized immediately and sincerely.

When I thought...umma was pitying me with her stares, it was surprisingly my crush worrying about me, He thought as warmth bit at his heart. He felt happy that he was being doted on, especially by Leeteuk

Kangin blinked and shook his head, “Oh, I didn't even notice! It's okay though. Thanks for worrying about me. It was nothing, really. Just...feeling a little strange by the guests...we don't get much, you know?"

Leeteuk giggled and held onto his knees, “Might as well visit more often so you'll get used to it?"

Might as well visit in more often...

Those words made Kangin a little nervous, but excited. He'd see his crush more, and maybe, just maybe...he'd develop feelings for him? The two ended up silent after Leeteuk's words that had made the younger blush. For awhile, the two just stared into each others' eyes while smiling. It was a beautiful moment, was probably what bot he outlive said.

Leeteuk looked down and cleared his throat moments later and sighed deeply, “My...I think we should go back inside...I'll have to be leaving soon, is that alright?" Kangin nodded.

He couldn't remember himself standing up and exiting the garden with his crush.

He couldn't remember himself holding hands and intertwining fingers together with his crush either.

He remembered waving goodbye, and stopping Leeteuk. He was about to speak out his mind...

“Leeteuk!" He called out which was a big surprise  to him.

The angel wheeled around with a smile. “Yes...Kangin?"

What was he going to tell him? Leeteuk's and his parents were there...so he couldn't really say what he wanted to say. He wanted to tell Leeteuk about his mother...he wanted to...he really did, but he told himself to not.

He couldn't...he couldn't spread such rumors about the queen! This was the mother of his crush...if they were ever going to get married, they'd need Leeteuk's parents' approval, and so...Kangin knew he had to play on the safe side and say nothing. He didn't even know if he was hallucinating or not.

No matter what, it wasn't his business to begin with. He should've left and allowed Queen Ji Ling to speak knowing that there no one was really listening. He shouldn't have evaesdropped, like he was taught to do, not listen to other people's conversations, and try to in.

He ended up saying something else. He let out a chuckle and spoke with a bright smile, “I can't wait for us to meet again!"

Leeteuk giggled and smiled as bright as the sun and his eyes glimmered and shined like the stars at night, “I can't wait either!"

Even though they were apart, but still close, and even though they were both different races, Kangin could care any less. The feelings he had for Leeteuk just grew more every second of his life.

He couldn't wait until they both were older and would be able to overcome more together, and since they'd both be ruling, they wouldn't be invisible to each other. They'd be seen everywhere, tougher.

Even now, his thoughts he had about Queen Ji Ling, were being buried real good by thoughts of Leeteuk.
