Since that day Jung Su met So Ra again, he came to Reveramess every day. But to his disappointment, So Ra never comes to the shop anymore. They didn’t have a talk that day because he understood that he is pushing her too hard. If she needed time, he would give her. But he just wanted to make sure she is doing well by checking her at Reveramess. Hyo Lyn learnt that So Ra had met Jung Su and he went to Reveramess every day. She decided to have a talk with him first before So Ra did.

“Can we have a talk?” Hyo Lyn walked to Jung Su’s side.

Jung Su recognised Hyo Lyn. Five years ago, she was there when he and So Ra engaged. But he never thinks that she is the one that helped So Ra to leave the country five years ago. Both of them came to a café and sat opposite to each other.

“Do you really love So Ra?” Hyo Lyn asked Jung Su straightaway.

“Yes,” Jung Su answered without hesitation.

“When did you realise that?” Hyo Lyn questioned him. “After she chose to leave?”

“No,” Jung Su shook his head. “I couldn’t tell you when exactly I fall in love with her but back then all I thought about is arresting Kang Yong Il.”

“So you chose your duty over her,” Hyo Lyn pointed out. “If you have a second chance, would you still do the same thing?”

“I will still arrest Kang Yong Il no matter what but I would have protect So Ra as well,” Jung Su said.

“Do you know that when we first arrived in Taiwan, she had insomnia?” Hyo Lyn started to recall the days when she accompanied So Ra to Taiwan.

“She couldn’t sleep at night. She would sit at the balcony and look at the street. Sometimes, she would cry and try to hide it from me. It continues for four months. She needed medication to fall asleep. But even when she is sleeping, she talks in her dream, repeating the same word, ‘Why?’ I’ve never seen that side of her before. It is obvious that she is suffering after realising the truth. I bet you didn’t even know that she tried to commit suicide.”

The word ‘suicide’ grabbed Jung Su’s attention. He stared at Hyo Lyn in disbelief. She then smiled bitterly and continued, “Are you surprised? She didn’t think about taking her own life when her father was killed. She did that because everything you said to her was nothing but a lie. Park Jung Su, you never know how much you hurt her. And you are telling me now that you love her? Is that how you hurt your loved one? If you really care about her, don’t appear in front of her, at least not now.”

“What do you want me to do then? Wait for another five years without knowing where did she go?” Jung Su questioned Hyo Lyn. If now isn’t the time for him to appear in front of So Ra, then when is the right time? Another five more years?

“I’m asking you to give her some time to think about your relationship with her,” Hyo Lyn responded. “If you don’t push her too hard, maybe you can still see her in Seoul after my wedding. But if you keep coming to Reveramess everyday just to talk to her, I can tell you that you will never have a chance to have a proper talk with her.”

Hyo Lyn finished her words and left the café. Jung Su didn’t know how long he sat in the café. His mind is filled with Hyo Lyn’s words. She is right. He is pushing So Ra too hard now and it may cause him to lose her again. He took his car key on the table and drove away.

So Ra stood at the balcony. She hasn’t been to Reveramess for days because she knew that Jung Su would be there waiting for her. She didn’t want to face him. When the doorbell rang, So Ra knew that it must be Hyo Lyn. She has been staying in Hyo Lyn’s apartment since she came back to Seoul while Hyo Lyn stays at her parents’ house.

“Let’s go out for lunch,” Hyo Lyn said once So Ra opened the door for her.

“I’ll cook lunch for both of us,” So Ra responded and headed to the kitchen.

“Yah!” Hyo Lyn grabbed her arm. “You’ve been hiding long enough. Let’s just go out for lunch. I can guarantee you that you won’t meet him today.”

“And what makes you so sure about it?” So Ra asked.

“Because I’ve talked to him,” Hyo Lyn told her.

“What?” So Ra stared at Hyo Lyn. “What did you tell him?”

“Are you curious?” Hyo Lyn questioned her. “Go out have lunch with me then I will tell you.”

So Ra had no choice but gave in. Both of them went to the shopping mall and decided to have lunch at one of the restaurants inside the mall.

“Now tell me,” So Ra said to Hyo Lyn after they ordered their food.

“I told him about your condition when we just went to Taiwan,” Hyo Lyn told her.

“Why did you tell him that?” So Ra questioned her.

“Why can’t I tell him that?” Hyo Lyn asked So Ra. “He should know what happened to you. He should feel regret.”

“So what changes is it going to make after you told him those things?” So Ra looked at Hyo Lyn, waiting for her answer.

“So Ra, let me ask you one question,” Hyo Lyn said.

“What?” So Ra asked.

“Do you still love him?” Hyo Lyn’s question is out of So Ra’s expectation.

Honestly speaking, So Ra doesn’t know. She tried to avoid this question for five years. When she thought she doesn’t love him anymore, he showed up in front of her once again. All the memories she had with him started filling her mind. As hard as she tried to forget about this man for the past five years, he still stays in her heart. Yes, she loves him but she couldn’t forget what he had done just to arrest her father.

“You still love him,” Hyo Lyn stated.

“So what if I still love him?” So Ra asked. “I can’t forget what he did five years ago. He said he loved me and that’s why we engaged. But after all, what he said is just a lie. How am I supposed to forgive him for doing that to me? I’m a normal human. I love him, but I hate him as well.”

“How much you love a person, that’s how much you hate him,” Hyo Lyn told So Ra. “I know that it is hard to forget the past but both of you deserve a second chance. You know what he told me?”

So Ra looked at Hyo Lyn, waiting for her to continue her words.

“He told me that he loves you. It doesn’t matter when he started falling in love with you. The fact is that it isn’t a one-sided love coming from you. When you lost your father, he knew that he is going to lose you as well. But he would have protect you if he could,” Hyo Lyn said. “Of course, it is up to you to make a choice. But So Ra, don’t make yourself regret in the future.”
