Café Au Lait

Description

Irene was just an ordinary 16 year old girl high-schooler who always loved to read, she never hide her passion for books. Being the introvert kind of girl, she always had trouble making friends. People at school would call her a nerd and lame just because she wore glasses and talked less but she couldn't care less about what people say because she like the way she was.

The summer had set in and the summer holiday was finally here and of course everyone at Irene's school was all happy about the holiday and so was Irene. Irene wanted to spend her three months summer holiday different from the others and had decided to find a job as a bookkeeper or a waitress at a café. What would be her luck and fate?

Foreword

Prologue

Irene stepped in a cafe and made her way to a table by the sparkly clean glass window and sat down while looking at her favourite book's cover, it was just too mesmerizing to Irene. She just got back from her school and it was the last day of school before the summer holiday started. She has always dreamed to work at a bookstore or a cafe as a part-time job and to kill her boredom since she didn't do anything on holidays excluding sleeping in her bed.

"Miss, what do you want for drink?" Irene turned her head to find a waiter with dark brown hair, smiling cutely and was ready to take her orders. Irene scrutinized him from head to toe and she thought he's cute and too attractive for a waiter. "Cafe Au Lait, please and thank you" Irene replied then smiled before looking away, to continue looking at everything that passes by the cafe. "Ah, I really want to get a job this summer..." Irene muttered softly under her breath. "You..." the waiter voiced which caught Irene's attention, she turned her head to him.

"You... why don't you work in our cafe?"

Irene can feel butterflies growing inside her stomach which got her super excited. She got up from her seat abruptly and exclaimed out loud, "Yes!"

"Thank you, thank you so much!" Irene took the waiter by his hand and shook it excitedly. "No... problem" The waiter replied then there was a moment of silence and Irene realized that everybody in the cafe was looking at her like she's insane. Irene adjusted her glasses for a second before grinning sheepishly. "S-Sorry" Irene stuttered as she rubbed her nape awkwardly then everyone was back to whatever they were doing. Irene sighed in relief.

"You better get ready for your interview tomorrow but don't worry about the manager, he's kind and I'm sure he would accept you here. We need more staffs anyway" The waiter ensured, slicing through the awkward silence between himself and Irene. "By the way, I'm Byun Baekhyun the leader of the whole staff here" He introduced himself to Irene and offered his hand for a handshake. "Leader? It's nice to meet you, I'm Irene Kim!" Irene grinned brightly before shaking Baekhyun's hand once again. "You should tell me more about you sooner or later... I'll be right back" Baekhyun smirked lightly before he walked into the kitchen.

Irene just smiled genuinely then slowly sat back down on her seat. She leaned her elbow on the table and rested her chin on the palm of her hand as she sighed and stared outside the window, waiting for her coffee to be served. Her luck was no joke today, it was unexpected and she never thought that she'll get a part-time job this fast, it's in a quite lovely cafe too.

A few minutes after, Irene heard a clashing sounds of glass beside her and she looked around to see Baekhyun standing beside her. Irene out her elbow away from the table and sat properly. Baekhyun put the cute little cup of tea on the table carefully along with its rainbow pastel colored coaster. "Enjoy your coffee," Baekhyun winked at Irene which made Irene blush slightly and he smiled teasingly at Irene before he stepped away to continue his job.

Irene gulped as she gazed at her favourite cup of coffee. She took a sip and she raised her eyebrows, surprised of how good the coffee was, she loved how it smells and the taste of the coffee was... unexplainable, it was totally beyond her expectation. She had already started to love the cafe and she could tell that it's going to be the best holiday she had ever had in her entire life.
