Letting You Go

The very next day, you spoke to Kibum about the shopping trip and told him about how you felt about him splurging on you. You weren’t comfortable with it and you were also afraid that his parents might misunderstand and think poorly of you, or worse, about their own son. He simply told you that he would take care of it and explain things to his parents and that you didn’t have to worry. He also expressed yet again that he just really wanted to help. He was so sincere when he asked you to accept his help that you actually felt bad to refuse his help, so you didn’t.

You saw the sudden glint in his eyes when you agreed and groaned inwardly. If that was any indication of what was to come, you knew that you would have no choice but to get used to Kibum buying you things.

In the following days, Kibum gradually started to spend more and more time at school and you used that time to explore and familiarize yourself with the neighbourhood. You were also hoping that, while you were at it, you would be able to find a job. You were walking down one of the streets near the supermarket when you passed a flower shop with the piece of paper with the word “HIRING” written on it, stuck to the glass of the display window. It was the first one you had seen so you entered the shop happily to enquire about the job.

Having gotten the job, you left the shop with a spring in your step. The owner was happy to hire you even after you explained to her your situation and that you would only be able to work for 3 months. She explained that her previous helper had gotten injured in an accident and would only be able to come back after a few months so it was a win-win situation. You would be able to get a job and she would get the extra pair of hands she wanted. The only thing about it was that you had to work Monday to Saturday and while you were perfectly fine with it, you were sure how Kibum would take it. You would just have to find the right time to break it to him.

Despite being busy with school, Kibum stayed true to his word and spent his free time reading all the material that was given to him by Dr. Reed. He even took the initiative to go online to find out more about the stages of baby development and that surprised you. Although you had read all those material before and even bought books to read, you never expected him to want to know so much. He seemed so sincere and intrigued by everything that you couldn’t help but think that he would make a wonderful dad in the future; and when you told him just that, he beamed at you and said that he loved kids and couldn’t wait to have his own.

The only downside to him knowing so much more now, was that he became even more protective and would fuss over you. He started to monitor what you ate very carefully, which was an easy feat for him especially since he made all your meals – he even packed lunch for you to take to work, and made sure you had healthy balanced meals. He even bought you vitamins and other supplements when he came back from school one day. You didn’t know exactly what he knew to buy but you had a sneaky suspicion that Dr. Reed would know something about that. You knew that he meant well so you didn’t complain and just let him fuss all he wanted.

It was lazy Sunday afternoon and the both of you were lounging on the couch in the living room. You were reading a storybook while Kibum was flipping through some magazine. “Kibum, I’m craving for pizza. Can we have that for dinner?” You kept your voice casual.

He looked up from his magazine briefly before going back to it. “You know, I’ve been meaning to ask you. Why don’t you call me ‘Kibummie’ anymore?”

You could practically hear the pout in his voice.

“Since when did I ever?” You didn’t remember giving him a nickname.

“Since that night when we came back from the shopping trip. You said “Goodnight, Kibummie” before you fell asleep. You don’t remember?”

You shook your head, feeling embarrassed that you had given him a nickname without even knowing it.

“Hmm. And the answer is, no. You just had fried chicken yesterday because you were craving for it. You can’t have pizza today too!” He reasoned but the tone of finality in his voice was clear.

“Please~” You whined.

He looked up and shook his head.

“Pretty please~” You clasped your hands together in front of you. “Please, Kibummie~ Baby wants it.” You pointed to your belly and pouted. You were coming to 16 weeks and your belly was starting to rise out. You remembered thinking one day, when you could no longer button your jeans, that you were happy for the clothes that Kibum bought for you.

His resolve broke when you called him that. You saw it in his eyes but he still tried to remain objective.

“What if I made the pizza? Would you settle for that?” He inquired.

You nodded happily. You would settle for anything that tasted like pizza, to be honest.

“Alright. You stay here. I’ll just go to store and get the ingredients I need.” He shuffled to the door and was already putting on his shoes. He was already one foot out the door when he stopped and turned back. “By the way, I like it when you call me ‘Kibummie’.” He blurted out before rushing out, the door shutting behind him with an audible click.

I can't believe it ended already. It seems like a few days since I first read this fic, but in reality it has been a year. I also can't believe that I waited for your updates all through out my last year of high school. I've been a ghost reader then a nice one who leaves flattering comments then a ghost reader again. Do you still remember me? Haha. It's okay if you don't, considering the many other not-so-silent readers/subscribers you have. Anyway, I don't have much to say about the final chapter, other than it's still the same ol' awesome writing style, so I want to take this opportunity to thank you. :) for being a selfless author and not abandoning this lovely fic. Now I'm not gonna ask you for a sequel, because I don't to sound so whiny and stuff, and also I think equels ruin a piece of work. :) that's all.

aww, and a bit bittersweet for Junhyung too...well at least he got to spend some time n be a father to Minhyuk even with limitations and all...lucky kid to have so many idols fanboying him...lol.
nothing to say on cupcake...since it'd be just repetition of my old comments on him so yeah...xD
Congrats for completing the fic^^ and thanks for the awesome journey!
