Kibum had woken up earlier than you the next day and left to go to the university to settle some administrative issues. You hadn’t heard him leave but when you woke up, you found breakfast on the table along with a note that explained where he had gone and that he would be back soon to accompany you to the hospital. There was a box, with your name scribbled across the top of it, on the table as well. Curious, you lifted the lid and saw that there was a phone, similar to the one Kibum had, in the box! There was a small card on top of the phone and it simply read “Use me well! ^^”.

You looked up after reading the card and smiled. You switched on the phone and placed it on the table. It was nice to wake up and find that breakfast had already been made for you. But to get a present as well, on top of that, just gave you a warm fuzzy feeling on the inside. You sat down and lifted the food cover. Kibum had made you an American-style breakfast with scrambled eggs piled on a slice of toast, sausages, bacon and baked beans. The underside of the plate was still warm to touch so you figured that Kibum hadn’t leave too long ago. You took a bite of the scrambled eggs and toast and it was amazing! Naturally, it didn’t take you long to polish off the breakfast. You washed the plate and downed a full cup of water before heading to the bathroom to shower and get ready.

As promised, Kibum had made it back in time to accompany you to your doctor’s appointment. You tried to tell him that you would be fine going by yourself but he remained adamant on going with you. You had a sneaky feeling that it had something to do with his talk with Soojin the previous night. You had initially asked him out of concern over what she might have said to him. But when he refused to tell you anything, it only made you more and more curious.

You were now at the hospital with Kibum, waiting for your turn. You were still sulking because you were extremely curious about the conversation but no matter what you did, he didn’t let anything slip. You sat in your seat with your arms folded across your chest and pouted to yourself. He turned his head to look at you and chuckled. “Oh come on. Why do you want to know so badly? I promise you that we didn’t say anything bad about you. Ok?” He tried to reassure you but you weren’t moved. Your curiousity was on the verge of killing you!

He sighed when you didn’t respond to him. “Is it really that important to find out? Don’t you trust your best friend? Don’t you trust me?” He said in a sad voice and sniffed.

You wanted to carry on sulking but he sounded so hurt that you couldn’t help glancing at him. You saw that he had his head bowed down and reached out to give his shoulder a little shake. “Are you really crying? Please don’t be sad. I do trust you, it’s just I’m extremely curious about what the both of you talked about.” You pleaded but he still kept his head down.

You let out a sigh in resignation. “Oh alright, I won’t ask you about it anymore. Can you please-“ Before you could even finish your sentence, Kibum had looked up with a bright and cheerful smile on his face and pulled you into a hug.

“I knew it! You were just acting weren’t you!” You smacked him on his shoulder. He let you go and rubbed the spot that you hit.

“Oww! That actually hurts.” He complained.

You stuck you tongue out at him. “Serves you right! That’s what you get for tricking me.” You huffed.

“Aww. Don’t be mad. I’ll make it up to you later ok?” He nudged you but you shifted out of his reach. He kept moving closer and nudging you, making little whiny sounds while he was at it. In the end, you couldn’t keep up your angry act as you laughed at his adorable actions while he sat there looking so proud of himself for making you laugh.

“By the way, I never got around to asking you yesterday, but how do you like your room? Do you need anything else?” He asked when you had calmed down.

“Hmm? Oh, no, it’s perfect! I really like that it has a touch of purple. I always wanted my room to look something like that.” You confessed.

Just then, your number flashed on the board and you headed to the room indicated. Your new doctor, Dr. Reed, was just as nice as your doctor in Korea. He had politely asked you how your flight was and when you were about to tell him that it was just fine, Kibum had to cut in and tell him about the little episode that you had when the plane had landed. “I was just a little dehydrated. I’m perfectly fine now.” You quickly added before looking crossly at Kibum and giving him a small shake of your head. You had to fight the urge to smack him again.

Dr. Reed picked up on your little exchange and chuckled. “I assume this is your first child together? Husbands usually get more worried when their wives are pregnant and even more so when it’s the first time. Don’t be too mad at him, he’s just concerned about you.”

“Actually…” You wanted to correct b, to tell him that Kibum was just your friend but he put his hand on yours to get your attention and this time, it was his turn to give you a small shake of his head. “No, it’s nothing.” You smiled.

“Alright then, let’s do a scan, shall we?” You nodded and he motioned for you to lie back.

The scan had been almost the same as the one you had back in Korea but the quality of the image of the scan was must better. The doctor had allowed you to hear your baby’s heartbeat again and you felt oddly soothed by the familiar sound. Kibum had seemed awed by everything that he saw and heard because he hadn’t uttered a word since the scan started. However, he seemed to have snapped out of it when the doctor handed you a printout of your ultrasound and told you to come back in five weeks because he followed you out of the room and made you sit down before telling you that he would be right back and rushed back into the doctor’s room.
