Letting You Go

That night, you were sitting on the bed packing your bag for your trip to visit your mom. You hadn’t told her of your plans to visit partly because you wanted it to be a surprise and also because you wanted to check up on her. You were in the midst of folding the clothes you wanted to pack when your handphone started ringing. You took a look at the caller ID and saw that it was Soojin.

“Hello, omma!”

She chuckled. “Someone sounds happy. Does it have anything to do with the text you sent me?”

You laughed. “Yeah. It has everything to do with it. I finally made up my mind about the scholarship already. I told Professor Cho today that I would be accepting it.”

“What made you make up your mind? You were still undecided before you went to meet Prof. Cho.”

“Actually, when I told you that I wanted to keep my baby, I already knew that it would be better if I didn’t stay in Seoul. At first, I thought about going back home and staying with my mom but I didn’t want to be a burden. Then, I thought the scholarship and remembered reading in the prospectus that Prof. Cho gave me that they accepted students in both spring and fall semesters but then I was worried that the scholarship would require me to start in fall, which would be impossible since it is when the baby is due. So that’s why I rushed off to go and ask.” You rattled off.

“So, I take it that you’re able to start in the spring then? Since you decided to accept the scholarship.” She concluded.

“Yup. I can register for the spring semester.” You continued to chat with Soojin until you remembered that you still had to pack for tomorrow. You said a quick good night to her and she wished you a safe trip before you got back to packing.

The next day, you took the bus in the early afternoon and reached your hometown in the late evening. The sun was already setting so you quickly walked down the path that was so familiar to you. Even though you knew your way around, you didn’t like walking around in the dark since there weren’t any street lights here unlike in Seoul.

You reached your house and left your bag off to the side where it was hidden from sight before knocking on the door and quickly sneaking off to the side to hide. You saw your mom open the door and look out with a puzzled expression. Before she could turn and head back inside, you jumped out of your hiding place and hugged her. “Omma!”

“Omo! Aigooo!” Your mom clutched her chest, trying to calm her heart.

“Mian! I missed you, omma!” You hugged her even tighter.

“Aigoo. How come you’re here? Don’t you still have school?” Your mom said when she finally calmed down and led you inside. You remembered your bag and went to fetch it before following your mom into the house.

“Don’t worry, omma. I’m still schooling. I just came to visit you since it’s the weekend and I missed you.” You gave her your best smile. She reached up to your face and pinched your cheeks.

“Aigoo. Such a sweet talker. Have you had dinner?” You shook your head and pouted as you rubbed your cheek. “Ok, come on, I’ll fix you something to eat.” Your mom led you to the dining table and pushed you into a chair before heading into the kitchen.

“Omma, do you need my help?” You called out after her.

“No! Just sit there. I’ll just be a moment. I haven’t kept all the food I made for dinner yet.” She answered.

You sat there and waited but you must have been more tired than you let on because the next thing you knew, your mom was gently shaking you awake. “Did I fall asleep?” You mumbled as you slowly slipped out of dreamland.

“Yeah, you must be tired from the journey. Quickly eat and then go wash up and get some sleep. We can always talk tomorrow.” She urged.

You decided not to argue and quickly ate the food that she prepared. Your mom’s cooking was just as good as you remembered but somehow, the food tasted so much more delicious today. Your mom just sat opposite you and watched you eat in silence. When you finished the food, she hurried you off to the bathroom before you could even help her clear the dishes. Now, as you laid in your bed in your bedroom, you just felt really safe and fell asleep almost instantly.

===============

Did anyone of you manage to watch the MAMA 2011 awards that was streaming live?? I watched all 6 hours of it and enjoyed it to bits.

I love how Huh Gak beat both B1A4 and Boyfriend to win the Best New Male Artist. I love his voice and he's so adorable and squishy! Haha. Ok. Forgive me for that.

I can't believe it ended already. It seems like a few days since I first read this fic, but in reality it has been a year. I also can't believe that I waited for your updates all through out my last year of high school. I've been a ghost reader then a nice one who leaves flattering comments then a ghost reader again. Do you still remember me? Haha. It's okay if you don't, considering the many other not-so-silent readers/subscribers you have. Anyway, I don't have much to say about the final chapter, other than it's still the same ol' awesome writing style, so I want to take this opportunity to thank you. :) for being a selfless author and not abandoning this lovely fic. Now I'm not gonna ask you for a sequel, because I don't to sound so whiny and stuff, and also I think equels ruin a piece of work. :) that's all.

bittersweet but i like open ending n this is sort of open-ending for me. i like seeing endings with so many possibilities laid ahead. n i'm glad she went ahead to finish her studies.
anyway, haven't gotten much time to comment eversince the chaps got really long...xD...but but...love it of course...longer chaps=more great stuffs to read...just...lost on how n where to start commenting...xD
aww, and a bit bittersweet for Junhyung too...well at least he got to spend some time n be a father to Minhyuk even with limitations and all...lucky kid to have so many idols fanboying him...lol.
nothing to say on cupcake...since it'd be just repetition of my old comments on him so yeah...xD
Congrats for completing the fic^^ and thanks for the awesome journey!
