Letting You Go

Two weeks had passed and you were no closer to making a decision than you were before. You had called your mom the day after and even though she was very supportive and told you that she would cheer you on no matter what you chose, you could hear a hint of sadness in her voice. You understood well enough though. You didn’t want to have to leave too. Soojin, on the other hand, was extremely excited and happy for you when you told her but didn’t try to make the decision for you. She just advised you to make a decision that you wouldn’t regret.

You couldn’t help but brood over the matter. It was always on your mind from the moment you woke up and it became so bad that you started to have less and less sleep at night. It seemed that no matter what you did, you just couldn’t come to a decision.

You woke up one morning and got ready for the day after getting only 2 hours of sleep. You didn’t feel so well but quickly dismissed it, thinking that it was because you haven’t been sleeping properly. Soojin gasped when she saw you. “------ah! Did you even sleep last night? You look like a zombie!”

You chuckled weakly. “I tossed and turned for hours last night and only managed to get 2 hours of sleep today. I’m fine though.” You waved your hand dismissingly.

“You don’t look fine to me. I know that the whole scholarship offer is bothering you but you need to get some rest. You seriously look like you’re going to audition for a role in a zombie movie. As the zombie!” She gave you a disapproving look but you couldn’t help but let out a snicker.

“Araso, unni. I’ll sleep properly tonight.” You promised when you managed to compose yourself.

You were exiting the lecture hall with Soojin when a sudden wave of dizziness overcame you and you had to lean against the wall for support. “------ah!” Soojin was at your side in an instant. “Are you ok?” Your eyes were closed but you could hear the worry in her voice.

“I’m ok.” You whispered after the dizziness faded away.

You saw the doubt in her eyes and quickly reassured. “I’m fine really. I was just a little dizzy. I think I just need to eat to get my blood sugar level up.”

You could tell that Soojin still wasn’t totally convinced but she didn’t argue and walked to the cafeteria with you for lunch. You managed to get through lunch without any mishap but when you stood up to leave, another wave of dizziness spread through you and you collapsed back onto your seat. This time the dizzy spell didn’t pass and your vision went black.

When you woke up, you were lying on a bed and the fluorescent lights overhead were so bright that they made you eyes hurt. You winced at the glare and looked around. You were alone and a curtain was pulled around your bed. You could tell that you were in the hospital. You pulled yourself into a sitting position just as the curtain parted. It was Soojin. You were relieved that she hadn’t left you here by yourself.

“Oh, you’re awake! Thank goodness! You gave me such a scare just now!” She walked over to your bed and sat at the edge of it. “Do you remember what happened?”

“I only remember getting up and then feeling dizzy before everything went dark.” You said sheepishly. “Oh! Work!” You exclaimed all of a sudden.

“Relax. I’ve got you covered. I already called your manager to tell him that you’re not feeling good and that you wouldn’t be able to work today.” She reassured. “ Anyway, back to what we were talking about, you’re lucky that when you fainted, Seyong was just coming to meet me. He carried you out of school and we took a cab straight here. He’s waiting outside now.”

“Oh goodness. I feel so embarrassed now. Did the doctor say anything though?”

She shook her head. “Nope. He said that he would speak to you when you woke up though. Speaking of which, I should go tell the nurse that you’re awake. Wait here.” She went back out to find a nurse.

When Soojin came back, she brought along a doctor with her. “So, I see you’re up, Ms. Lee. I’m you’re attending doctor, Dr. Won. How are you feeling? Better I hope?”

You nodded. “Yes, I’m feeling much better now.”

“Have you experienced any dizzy or fainting spells lately? Any nausea or loss of appetite?” Dr. Won questioned.

“No, just today is the first time I’ve experienced those but I think it’s because I haven’t been sleeping well lately. And no, no nausea but I haven’t had much of an appetite lately though. I have some… issues that have been affecting my mood.” You explained while your doctor was flipping through your charts.

“Well, Ms. Lee. I have something to tell you but…” He glanced at Soojin and then looked back at you.

You got what he meant and said, “It’s ok. She’s a close friend.” You smiled reassuringly.

He mirrored your smile and nodded in Soojin’s direction. “Well, ok then. I have to congratulate you then. Your records show that you’re 6 weeks pregnant. That probably accounts for everything that you just told me. You’re lucky though, it doesn’t look like you’ll be suffering from morning sickness since you’ve not been feeling any nausea. As for the loss of appetite, I think that is most probably due to the stress from the issues that you mentioned. I believe your appetite will naturally come back once you solve them. However, in the mean time, I suggest that you eat small amounts regularly. Have lots of fruits and vegetables and reduce your intake of fatty or spicy foods. Alright, I’ll leave you alone now. Once you’re ready, just go to the counter and fill out some forms and then you’ll be able to go home. You might also want to make an appointment with a gynaecologist too.” Dr. Won said before leaving.

You and Soojin stared after Dr. Won and then looked at each other with blank expressions. “D-Did you just hear what I heard?” You stuttered. Soojin just nodded mutely, for once not knowing what to say. “Oh no. Please tell me this isn’t happening.” You groaned as you felt your entire world crumble to dust.

Soojin’s expression softened immediately and came to your side and rubbed soothing circles into your back. “Come on. We can talk about this later. Let’s get you out of here first.” She said while gently guiding you off the bed.

I can't believe it ended already. It seems like a few days since I first read this fic, but in reality it has been a year. I also can't believe that I waited for your updates all through out my last year of high school. I've been a ghost reader then a nice one who leaves flattering comments then a ghost reader again. Do you still remember me? Haha. It's okay if you don't, considering the many other not-so-silent readers/subscribers you have. Anyway, I don't have much to say about the final chapter, other than it's still the same ol' awesome writing style, so I want to take this opportunity to thank you. :) for being a selfless author and not abandoning this lovely fic. Now I'm not gonna ask you for a sequel, because I don't to sound so whiny and stuff, and also I think equels ruin a piece of work. :) that's all.

aww, and a bit bittersweet for Junhyung too...well at least he got to spend some time n be a father to Minhyuk even with limitations and all...lucky kid to have so many idols fanboying him...lol.
nothing to say on cupcake...since it'd be just repetition of my old comments on him so yeah...xD
Congrats for completing the fic^^ and thanks for the awesome journey!
