Chapter 13                                                                                                   The accelerator was pushed down until it’s fullest as Kris stepped down onto it. Sweat broke down his forehead despite the fact that there was hardly any sun anymore. The tall Chinese man swerved along the road needing to reach their destination as fast as possible. In the backseat, Sehun was between the two older people. Kai had his arm around Sehuns shoulder to secure him while Luhan had had his arms around Sehuns waist, pressing down on the bandage. Sehun winced at every turn when his body would dangerously threaten to sway side by side without the two people who were occupied in holding him. The hour long ride was cut into half an hour with Kris’ race car driving. Luhan thought he and Baekyoung were the only people who were capable of Vin Diesels’ style of riding but given the situation- it showed what people were capable of.   The car sped across the field and Kris slammed his feet onto the breaks, the people at the back pelting forward and hitting their head at the front seats. Except Sehun who had nothing in front of him, his body went forward so forcefully that he sat up with a big red bump on his forehead. “Ouch….” Everyone chorused. Kris moved out of the door, his long legs striding towards the house with desperation. His long legs took him towards the front door that was flung open by a worried Baekyoung who had his eyes set on the car as if waiting for his brother to get out. However, all he saw was Kai and Luhan boosting out of the car slowly. It was then his mind jumped to the worst conclusion possible and before he knew it, Baekyoung swung a punch at Kris.   SMACK   “Stop!” Chen moved, trying to stop Baekyoung who was throwing punches blindly and Kris who wasn’t even bothering of defending himself. Kai shook his head at Chen and told him to get into the house. Kyungsoo had jumped in to help with Sehun, bringing the boy into the house while Tao was watching the two oldest have a punch-down. Tao seemed weak and his eyes deepened but the others did not pay attention to him with all the chaos happening. “What happened to Baekhyun? What the hell happened to him?” Baekhyun hissed, grabbing Kris on the collar and holding him close to his face. His whole body shook and as much as he did not want to hear anything gruesome about his brother getting bitten- he needed to put his heart at ease by knowing the truth. Kris was choking under Baekyoung’s grip and he had no choice but to lift his knee and shove Baekyoung away, the other boy falling backwards into the ground. Kris wiped the side of his lip and when he looked into his hand, he saw that it was blood. Baekyoung stood up, moving his fists, his eyes no longer the nice and pure Baekyoung. His pupils were fixed onto Kris and Kris could not help but flinch at the change of his friend’s demeanor. “Listen to me. I told you to listen to me.” Kris raised both of his palms, trying to calm Baekyoung like how he would calm a wild dog. None of them saw a shaking Tao in the background as his body heated up and his body fell onto the ground to what seemed like deep sleep. “What is there to listen to? My brother is dead.” Baekyoung spat onto the ground and Kris shook his head, backing away slowly. He wanted Baekyoung to listen to him but Baekyoung was as stubborn as his younger brother once his mind was set to it. “Baekhyun is not dead. He was taken.” Kris started and Baekyoung frowned at him. “Goddamnit, Baekyoung! Listen to me! This is not the time to fight.” Kris stomped onto the ground with frustration but Baekyoung showed no signs of forgiveness until Kris’ eyes widened.   “Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssshhhhhh….”   “T-Tao… Behind you, Baekyoung!” Kris lunged forward and grabbed Baekyoungs hand. He pulled him towards him and they scampered across the ground in panic. Tao had leaped onto them, his zombie eyes now rolling backwards. His lips were wide open and he almost chomped down on them when he was pulled back by his very own best friend. Kai had heard the ruckus outside and hurried over just to see his suddenly turned best friend. Kai pulled Tao and wrestled him on the ground trying not to get bitten while at it. Baekyoung grabbed Tao on the arms while Kris pinned Tao’s arms above him. Kai was on Tao’s body, one of his hand pushing Tao’s chin backwards so he would not be able to bite them and with a flick of his finger, he pressed down onto the crook of Tao’s neck and his best friend’s body went limp. “Eh? It worked?” Kai said bewildered, looking at the knocked down Tao who’s tongue was hanging out of his mouth like a drugged up dog. “W-Wha..What did you do?” Kris asked, still not loosening his grip from Tao’s arms. “Tao has this spot that puts him to sleep the moment I press it. Only I know about it.” Kai looked at Tao weirdly. “I thought it wouldn’t work since he was a zombie but it did?” “What? So it’s like some kind of button that wakes him up and puts him to sleep? Is he some kind of robot?” Baekyoung choked out and loosened his hands. “Get off Tao, let’s talk at home.”   Kai nodded, hoisting his best friend over his shoulder by himself and walked ahead of the two older boys who were left behind. They were quiet, no one saying anything as they walked side by side. “Are you sure he isn’t dead?” Baekyoung suddenly asked quietly, his eyes on the ground and Kris felt a lump on his throat. “He wasn’t dead the last time we saw him. Some people took him away.” “People?” Kris nodded and stopped. “I always said that you brought up your brother the wrong way.” He shook his head and patted Baekyoung on the arm. “I take that back.” Baekyoung nodded, still refusing to meet Kris’ eyes. Kris his lips and when they reached the front door, they saw everyone was all over Sehun. Sehun had his body on the couch and Kyungsoo was busy with patting Sehun’s head with a wet towel. Kai was walking down the stairs from locking Tao upstairs. “Who’s that?” “Sehun.” Kris answered Baekyoung, both of them entering the front door and closing it behind him. “Your brother saved him. We’ll be able to ask information from him as get him back.” “My brother saved him?” “That’s why I said, I take my words back.”   ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________         Sehun was on the couch and everyone surrounded him while he told them about the place he came from. “It was formally a survivor camp, but now it’s like hell.” The youngest of them all admitted while everyone listened. “I can show you where it is, it’s not that far from the town we were at.” Sehun paused to breath, trying to handle talking while his wound hurt. “Why did they take my brother?” Sehun pressed his lips together in a grim smile. “They take survivors. Not to make them survive, but to treat them like slaves and kill them. I’m pretty sure they are people with the want to wipe out as many survivors as they can. One thing I’m sure of is that they aren’t from here.” “Not from here? Didn’t they speak Korean?” “Well, Korean. Yes… From up there.” Sehun pointed up and everyone nodded in understanding, “North Korea.” Kai said softly under his breath.   “Why are North Koreans’ doing this? It doesn’t make any sense.” Chen leaned against the couch. He shook his head hating to think that there may be a political problem behind all of this. As if his past with his parents weren’t enough. “That’s not the point. The point is how we are going to get my brother back without me wrecking their whole existence for taking him away.” Baekyoung voiced out and sat down beside Sehun. “Talk.” Sehun nodded at Baekyoung. He couldn’t blame the older guy for being rough on him. It was most probably because Sehun came back but Baekhyun didn’t. “The place is crowded by two types of people. Survivors and the members. Members are the ones you are not supposed to mess with. Survivors are stuck in cages but I’ve seen some of them try to escape. Killed every time.”   Sehun sat up. “There are members on every post acting like guards. They walk around every 40 minutes to check that no one is trying to get away. I have no idea which prison Baekhyun may be. They have a total of 15 prisons, 50 people in each section. Yes, it’s a lot.” Sehun nodded at the look on Kyungsoo’s face. “We can take out prison 7-15 because people there have stayed there for long and it’s usually consisted of woman and teenage girls. I know because I’ve seen them… some. They usually just kill men.” Sehun looked down and Kris’ jaw dropped in disbelief at how inhumane these people were. Sehun continued to talk, his hand rubbing his stomach. “Prison 1-3 is for families, usually mothers with children. Families, who want to stay together, die together.” “At least they have the heart to put them together.” Chen murmured under his breath, rolling his eyes. “We are left with prison four, five, and six.” Sehun blinked, rubbing his head. He tried to remember as much as possible. “It’s best if we sweep through the prison to check for Baekhyun-hyung because they might have put him anywhere. But my best bet it either Prison four or five. Prison six was full last time I checked, but I’m not sure if anyone has died while I was away or not.”   “Okay, so they keep people in prisons behind bars?” Kris frowned. “Is it a building or?” “It’s a prison building, close to Busan. Around an hour and a half from here. The town from earlier and just keep going straight. It was still in construction when the disease hit but the front part was big enough to fit hundreds of people.” “How do we get in and save my brother?” “That’s the problem, the place is guarded tightly. But if we were to get in, it would be from the back. You will find yourself pass the 6th prison, then the 5th, then the fourth. If he isn’t in any of them, we might have to go to the higher up floors.” Kai stood up for a moment and headed upstairs while everyone kept talking. Kris nodded while Baekyoung buried his hands into his
