Chapter 5

“Hey, you.” Irene points at the only person in the living room with her, “Bear.”

SeulGi purposely irritates Irene by looking left to right and pointing at herself asking, “Me?”

“Well, who else?” Irene has gone to this habit of widening her eyes, thanks to SeulGi.

SeulGi giggles.

“Accompany me later at the mall.” Irene sits on the couch and crosses her legs.

“Should I ask why?” SeulGi looks up at Irene from the floor she was sitting on.

“No. You don’t have the right to question me or my orders.”

“Yep.” SeulGi stands up and brushes her pants, “A tour to hell once more.”

“I want to look for a gift.” Irene says as she adjusts her sunglasses.

“Why not ask one of your so-called ‘friends’ instead?” SeulGi walks behind Irene, as per Irene’s direct instruction.

“Why do you even bother who I go with?” Irene mid-turn her head to her before full facing forward again.

“Just asking.” SeulGi looks at the shops they passed by because it’s less weird.

Silence.

Then Irene decides to speak, “I’m buying a birthday gift for a friend. I don’t want to ask the others because they’ll know.”

SeulGi looks at Irene, well, Irene’s back, “They’ll know eventually. What’s the difference?”

“Don’t you know ‘surprises’?” Irene says, not turning to SeulGi anymore.

“Asking me to go with you is one.”

That made Irene stop from walking, which made SeulGi stop walking as well.

Irene turns and starts walking to SeulGi. She takes her sunglasses off and looks straight at the taller girl’s eyes, “Do you have a problem with accompanying me today, Ms. Kang?”

“I have lots of problem accompanying you every day, Ms. Bae.” SeulGi answers rather frankly.

Irene narrows her eyes at SeulGi, her lips slightly twitching from SeulGi’s answer.

Irene exhales furiously yet calmly. SeulGi can tell she kind of went overboard and pissed Irene off badly.

Hey, SeulGi doesn’t get it. They fight over things like this every day, why is today any different?

After a split second, Irene regains her composure and says to SeulGi, “Well, guess you’ll have lots more problems on your way every single day of your desperate life,”

She puts on her sunglasses back and flips her hair as she turns back to the road, she says with a mocking smile,
