25 | Lucky Charm

Clad in her sweat pants and simple white tee, One girl is in the kitchen, wearing also her biggest smile in the world she ever could paint. She woke up in the morning so bright, ready to face the world.

 

There are two things that she's bright today; one is she is the one cooking the breakfast and two, she's excited for the game later in 6 hours. She's excited not just for herself but for the team.

 

After cooking their breakfast, she hastily went upstairs and there she saw her lazy girlfriend, still sleeping while cuddling the stuff toy, a replacement for herself.

 

She carefully climbed to the bed and leaned down to kiss her cheek. "Wakie... wakie up... princess." whispers her on her ear and kiss her cheek again. "Breakfast is ready Princess Joohyun." and then again for the third time. Her girlfriend's cheeks are the fluffiest ever, she couldn't get enough and kiss them a lot.

 

"Hmm..." Seohyun is slowly waking up. Yet, eyes are still close. She can feel her girlfriend's weight on her.

 

"It's already morning, pretty. Get up." Yoona whispers again, giving her girlfriend another morning kisses on her cheeks. She gently pulled the stuff toy away from her so she can have a better view of the girl. She kissed her cheeks again for a couple of times before the girl slowly turned to her, lying flat now in the bed.

 

Seohyun's lips slowly curved into a sweet smile. Her heart is fluttering, effectively. She slowly opened her eyes and close them again. "What time is it?" She mumbles softly.

 

"Eight." Yoona replied. She sweetly brushes the hair strands slightly covering her girlfriend's face. Again, sweetly pecking at her cheeks, in both sides this time.

 

Seohyun opened her eyes again, feeling like if she will continue close them, the girl will have a thousand of times reason to kiss her cheeks. It's fluttering but at the same time it's waking her up. But before she can fully open her eyes, Yoona kisses her eyes. She sighed and cupped the girl's face, so she will stop it. "I'm awake now, Yoongie. You can now stop." Her lips pouted cutely.

 

"I can't get enough of you." Yoona huskily whispered.

 

"Chincha? But you also did this yesterday... two days ago... three days ago... four days ago... and so on and so forth. Technically everyday." Seohyun concluded. "Aren't you tired Yoongie?" She caresses her cheeks with her thumbs, affectionately.

 

Yoona grinned. "Forever, I won't get enough of you. There's no room for tiredness." And once again peck to the girl's cheeks. That ends up for another round of kisses around her face.

 

Seohyun giggles and pushed the girl a little and Yoona pout like a lost puppy. "I won't also get tired of you." She softly said. She's so glad their relationship is going so far so good. "Wait... Is it Saturday or..." she couldn't able to continue her words when Yoona peck at her lips again and again until she leaned out. "Do you want me to get up or you will continue shower me with kisses?" She mocks, earning a giggle from the doe-eyed. She then got off of her and pulled her to a sitting position. "Stretch." She extended her hands towards her momentarily.

 

Yoona held her hands and pull her girlfriend towards her. In which, Seohyun can be found bending her upper body. The girl groaned in the process. She was then pulled over, turn for her to bend over. They keep on the doing the same process until they call it done.

 

But before they could go downstairs, Seohyun suddenly climbs behind Yoona and the girl almost loses her balance.

 

"I'm suddenly lazy to walk, Yoongie. Hehe." Seohyun explained herself. Her legs are already wrapped around her waist, Yoona couldn't decline anymore and just complied. She held the latter over her thighs.

 

"Ugh, so heavy Penguin. I thought for a second I'm carrying a pig." Yoona commented while she's walking down the stairs.

 

"I don't care." Seohyun just shrugs and kisses her girlfriend's cheek.

 

The doe-eyed girl rolled her eyes as she made their way to the kitchen.

"Tada!" Yoona went back to the kitchen showing an envelope. A small envelope that has her school's logo. She takes her seat across the younger girl and handed it to her.

 

Seohyun opened the envelope right away. "Whoa, Your midterm grades? You didn't showed this to me last night... or did I just miss something?" she recalled she also shared hers last night.

 

"I... decided to share today because It's D-Day. You know, a big day for us." Yoona explained before she took a bite of her ham.

 

Seohyun chuckles. "What's the connection?"

 

"See for... your self." Yoona replied between her munch.

 

"Better be this good grades too." Seohyun suspiciously stared at the older girl across her as she took the card inside. She opened it and check for herself indeed.

 

Yoona is grinning widely, watching and anticipating for any reactions from her girlfriend. A couple of seconds later, she slowly looked at her with eyes squinting, quietly. "What?" she gulped. 

 

"Four flat one out of nine subjects. Oh my God, Yoongie! This needs a celebration!" Seohyun exclaimed, slapping the table intentionally. She's freaking proud and happy for her. 

 

Yoona laughs. "I knew... you would react."

 

Getting up from her seat, Seohyun hugs her girlfriend behind and attack her both cheeks with kisses. Imitating what the doe-eyed girl did early in the morning. She leaned out and ruffles her hair, before going back to her seat.

 

"Thanks for that. I am now energized for the game later." Yoona's happy laughter filled the entire kitchen.

 

"You better send this to your father right away."

 

"Of course. But later after the game." 

 

Seohyun suddenly thought of something and snapped her finger. "Why don't we video chat with him? Like what I did with my father the other day?"

 

"Video chat? I don't think that's a good idea."

 

"Why not?" The younger girl is confused.

 

"Well, I'm kind of shy." Yoona revealed, awkwardly.

 

Seohyun let out a soft chuckle. "What are you shy of?"

 

"I mean, I couldn't guarantee it's going to be a good conversation. You know my father is so nosy. He likes to tease me a lot." Yoona stated as a fact. Although she also misses him, she's careful about it. "I don't like to be tease?" her cheeks turned a shade of red upon admitting such fact.

 

Seohyun sure she's like staring to a four year old kid, sounded like she doesn't want to be scold caught stealing candies. Yoona is exactly possessing it. She felt like squeezing her at the moment. "I also doesn't like to be tease. But, haven't you heard anything from him? A video call would be awesome. In fact, I'm excited to see him, virtually for now."

 

"Yeah, he never called yet for almost three months now." Yoona mutters. "But serious... I don't want to video chat, Peng." She pouted her lips. "Can we call him on the phone rather? Just voice to voice?"

 

"You need to send your grades first."

 

"Of course." Yoona chuckled.

 

"She would really be proud of you."

 

Yoona pause and sigh. "Y-Yeah, I can imagine it." a small and happy smile formed in her lips.

 

"And my father... I think so too." Seohyun additionally said, beaming. Although she only have 3 flat ones, the rest of her grades are good enough.

 

"Both of our fathers."

 

"And mothers." Seohyun instantly replied.

 

The mention of mother made Yoona pause, yet her smile is there. She recalled the last time she handed her card to her mother, she's still a kid. It brings nostalgic to her. However, she knows her mother is happy up there.

 

"My mom would be so proud of us." Seohyun on the other hand is feeling the same as her girlfriend. She also got this rewind in her mind about her dear mother.

 

"Both of them... Up there." Yoona pointed up using her index finger, earning a nod from the younger girl. "Aish. Let's hurry up. I am still going to have a little practice later." She shrugs, dropping the 'mother' topic right away and grabs her spoon and fork again.

 

Seohyun giggles watching her girlfriend while she follows her lead.

After having a quick conversation with her girlfriend, Yoona made her way straight to the locker room. There are few players left in the place, and one of them is Jungyeon, currently tying her lace. She made her way to her locker and was about to open it when she was reminded by their last conversation, she turned to her.

 

"What do you want to talk about Seohyun?" The girl's last words rings to her mind, she wanted to talk about her in their next practice. The girl seems to have started being friendly with her now after she got in. Probably because they're playing for their team. She changes her mind. And she's really glad of this. She wanted to play without any enemy in one team.

 

Jungyeon stirred up from her shoes. She was surprised to see Yoona now standing in the side, in front of her locker. "Um... outside. I'll tell you. You change to your uniform first." she decided to do it rather outside. She flashed a smile and returned tying her shoe laces.

 

Yoona shrugs and opens her locker, grabbing her jersey and sneakers.

 

"I'll see you outside." Jungyeon said, getting up and walked out the locker room. The others also follows her in the process.

 

Yoona, who was left in the locker room alone again quickened her pace. It took only a minute and half and she went out, going straight to the football field. But it seems the 30 minutes practice is not yet starting. She can still see her teammates in the side, stretching and others are on their drills. Some are in the bleachers even, talking with their fans. 

 

She also noticed Jungyeon, she's talking with a friend. She wanted to approach her but it would be rude for her to interfere when she's with a friend. So she choose to joins the others in their drills. All of them are in good shape. She can feel the excitement. Although only a friendly match, the fact that it's against a number one team challenged them. Yoona sure is not just excited but nervous at the same time. This match wil determine how strong she is to play with the official team against a solid team. Not to mention, they're all star players. In their team, they only have two, Jungyeon and Sowon.

 

"Yoong!"

 

Upon hearing the call from Jungyeon, she stopped dribbling the ball with the cones and made her way to the bleachers. "So?" She breathed out, grabbing a botle of water in the side. She didn't wait for her response as she started drinking.

 

"Is Seohyun liking someone right now?"

 

Yoona literally choke on her water and cough a lot of times after hearing the straight question. Jungyeon tapping on her back, easing what she got. She on the other hand tried to process the question in her mind while rubbing her chest. After a while, she turned to the latter. "What do you mean about that?" Her voice almost raise.

 

"You two are friends right? Close friends that media even think you are dating her. So I thought you know a lot about her?" Jungyeon beamed, didn't even hesitate to share her thoughts.

 

"I... Why do you ask?"

 

Jungyeon was taken aback by the doe-eyed girl's rising voice. "I just.. w-wanted to know. I want to be friend with her too." She is shuddering. By the look of the girl, her sudden glare, she looks like she doesn't love the idea.

 

"Seohyun is busy." Yoona said, looking away and once again drinks her water. While she's drinking her mind is running, 'Damn, why she sounds like she likes my girlfriend. No way. There's no way she's going to be friend with her.'

 

"Um, to-to be honest. I kind of like her." Jungyeon blurted.

 

"WHAT?" Yoona almost spit the water from to the other girl. "NO WAY!"

 

"Why not? She's not dating I guess... or.. does she really like someone?"

 

Yoona was about to tell the truth when she heard Seohyun's voice inside her mind.

 

'Let's keep our relationship to our selves as much as possible. Until I'll tell my father about us.'

 

She hissed and turned away. "She doesn't like someone indeed but she's focus in her studies. I don't think she would be liking anyone. To think, she's a princess." She feels like she is copying Director Shin with her words. But the last excuse is so lame.

 

"Hmm, That's why I want to make friends with her too. I want to know her first. It isn't like I will quickly ask her to be my girlfriend." Jungyeon beamed in her smile. As if her idea is the best.

 

Yoona rolled her eyes out of annoyance.

 

"Come on, being friends isn't that bad." Jungyeon nudged the doe-eyed girl. Just forget about I like her. Since you said she's focusing in her studies."

 

'Friends my . You will just try to snatch her from me.' Yoona thought to herself as she looked at Jugyeon again. "No." With a firm response.

 

"You sounded like you are her guardian. So strict?"

 

"I'm indeed her guardian because she's not with her family." Yoona grinned. Suddenly loved Jungyeon's call for her.

 

"Okay. So do I need to do something first before I could be friend with her?"

 

"You are persistent. No?"

 

"I just really want to be friend. In my understanding, being friendly is a good thing. It's like giving someone a reason to meet another person and learn from her. Or to make memories with her. No man is island as what they say."

 

Yoona grimaced with the kind of answer she heard from the other girl. She ain't that bad and she's not against with it. But the fact that she mentioned she likes her, she still disapproves.

 

"Are you thinking about it now?" Jungyeon smiled, as she finds hope to the girl's smile to her as well. Although it's small only.

 

Yoona turned away and finishes her water first. Jungyeon is still staring at her, causing for her to feel intimidated. She wanted to just run away or to tell her truthfully, but keeping her girlfriend a promise always rings to her mind again, she feel defeated. After she finished her water, she sighed and turned to the girl. "I'll... I'll think about it. But I won't promise anything."

 

"Cool." Jungyeon throws her arms around Yoona, hugging her instantly.

 

Yoona chuckles, pushing the other girl gently away from her. "I said I can't promise anything."

 

"I know. At least you will think about it."

 

"I couldn't promise..." She could no longer continue her word when Jungyeon left her right away. "... I will change my mind from giving you permission. When in fact, I really couldn't." Yet, she continued, watching her happily going back to her drill. "Aish." Yoona frustratingly ruffles her hair.

 

However, she hastily tied it back when she saw their coach is arriving. She soon joined the others, not wasting a single second of the day.

A big idiotic smile creeps Yoona's face as soon as she spotted her girlfriend immediately inside a cafe. She's alone, reading her favorite novels while waiting for her.

 

She didn't waste time and she stepped out of her scooter, making her way in. At first he wanted to surprise her but the latter unconsciously stirred away from her reading and she caught her approaching. Her mind changes as she just grin towards her.

 

"What's up, princess?" But that grin in her face turns into a charming one once she took her seat across her.

 

Seohyun's smile automatically formed in her face. "How's your practice prince charming?" Eyes are sparkling at the same time.

 

"Pretty awesome." Yoona poked her girlfriend's nose. "How about your visit in your University even though it's Saturday?"

 

Seohyun was about to answer when she was reminded by what happened.

 

Flashback...

 

Seohyun left the faculty room with big smiles of satisfaction in her face. She just pass her project and she's confident of it, she will have good remarks. She made a lot of efforts for such a research, there's no way she'll fail that.

 

Moving forward, she thought of what will happen later. Yoona's first debut as a footballer and a quick date. It made her excitedly exited the building. But just before she can reached the car park, she stops half way when she heard a voice. She turned to the side and saw her friend in the cheerleader club.

 

"Pardon?" She heard her say something but she wasn't sure if she heard it right.

 

"You're so excited to cheer for your friend instead of our team, where's the loyalty you have for our school? You know, the school should dropped you. But being born in a royal family seems stopping the University. Oh well, they're also making money from you. What am I surprised right?"

 

Seohyun was stunned. She was about to reply when she couldn't able to even defend herself when the latter continued.

 

"What's her name again? Im Yoona? Are you really just friends? Because for me, I don't think not. The closeness is weird. Not surprising you even defended her from the media the other day, when they visited the school."

 

"You don't... know anything." Seohyun tried to voice out. But she failed again.

 

"Oh yes, I know. I know you're just using the school for your popularity. For your popularity boast!"

 

"It's no-"

 

"Why would you study to a prestigious school? Not to mention, outside your country. I don't think your country doesn't have good schools?" The cheerleader scoffed. "Joohyun, You don't belong here. You should go back to where you really belong. This place is already crowded enough for someone who isn't even born here. You're Asian, you're not british, dear."

 

Seohyun's felt so offended. Clench on her fist and jaw, while her blood is boiling in anger. But she is trying to compose herself. If she will lost it, that means, she's letting her win. She had never done anything wrong, so why would she do the same as her?

 

"What can you say, hmm?"

 

Seohyun sighed as she relaxed her body. She cleared and grabs the chance to speak for herself. "All I know is that, studying here would be peaceful unlike in a country where I was known. But I guess... it's not. With the way you're talking me right now. And for your information, my heart is still loyal for this school and its football club. I'm only excited because finally, my friend's dream is about to come true. Have a good day." she ended it with a sly smile before going straight to the car park. At least she had voice out what's true with class.

"Yah! Peng Princess, what's going on?" Yoona snapped a finger, noticing the sudden pause from her girlfriend and she seemed out of place.
