“A STORY LIKE A LEGEND – PART 1”

He’s new to that place and everything he saw all around him seems so interesting. The blue rivers; the green mountains; the pink cherry blossoms; the people…

…and this girl…

He’s taking his stroll capturing all the beautiful views with his eyes when he reached at the busy market. It’s really lively and crowded that it barely has a space for you to walk without having to bump with another.

He couldn’t express how excited he was to see that kind of view. He stopped at every stall to see what they’re selling and to make a small talk. As he was so engrossed in picking items that he likes; his eyes landed on someone at the next stall. He completely froze and his heart started racing.  

She’s obviously stood out among the crowds. From the way she’s greeting the elders; her bright personality and the way her big doe eyes glistening when she’s smiling.

“This mirror is very pretty~” She lifted it up and started to check her look in the mirror.

“Yes…it’s embroidered with the jewels…they’re authentic…” The ahjumma informed her.

When she lowered down the mirror; that’s when their eyes met. She startled at the very beginning probably because of him; being too obvious watching over her. But then a pure smile spread across her face as she bowed down slightly to him.

“Ahjumma, I’ll take it…” She said and the ahjumma began packing.

Only then he realized that she wasn’t alone. There’re several young girls were following her obediently at the back and when she expressed her intention to buy that mirror; one of them handed the ahjumma the money and another one carried it for her.

From the look of her; he knew she wasn’t just a mere commoner like others. Those who came from the noble and rich families are easy to be spotted. They’re utterly different from head to toes and their personalities are more refined.

But that wasn’t the reason his eyes could never leave her sight. It’s more than that. And he absentmindedly stalked her from behind.

Standing underneath the blooming cherry blossom; she smiled brightly when some of the petals fell down and stuck on her head. The maids properly arranged the petals into a hair band but before they could finish it; one blow from the winds scattered them all floating in the air.

“Aaah~ it’s so pity…” they huffed in frustration.

“Nah~ it looks even more beautiful floating and flying in the air; don’t you think…?” the smile played at the tip of as she held up one hand to block her face from the sun ray.

Turning around; she caught the figure of the same man’s staring at her. She blinked her eyes rapidly as she’s thinking. Then to his surprise; she started to take a stride approaching him. Knowing well that the maids wouldn’t leave her; she raised her hand without even looking back; stopping them.

“I’ll be fine…”

She walked forward graciously until she stopped right in the front of him.

“You’ve been following me…” She began.

“I’m sorry…” He quickly apologized.

“You’re not from this place; right?”

“Ah yea…I never stick at one place…I’m travelling a lot…and this time; my destiny brought me here…” He explained; keeping his composure.

“Is it really obvious that I’m not from this place? Am I looking that weird?” He said it out loud but more to himself than to her. He then started to feel his face.

She covered with her handkerchief as she chuckled.

“I could figure it out because you’re the first one who’s bravely following me…not even sneaking around…”

He raked his fingers through his hair as he’s grinning foolishly; finally realized it.

Covering her face; she came to meet him secretly.

“Yunho-ah...let’s run away together! I don’t mind following you to anywhere…but we should go now!!!” Her voice sounded so desperate; the grip on his arm tightened.

“Wait…what happened?”

“They’ve already found out about us! I overheard their conversation. They wanted to kill you!!! We should go now!!! WE SHOULD GO NOW!!!!!!”  She begged with teary eyes.

“No…I can’t include you in this…”

“I’VE ALREADY INCLUDED THE SECOND YOU SAID YOU LOVE ME!!!!” She screamed in frustration.

“Please~”

He watched as the tears rolled down from her eyes.

He nodded as he made up his mind. He then intertwined their hands together; ready to flee away when he saw a group of horsemen heading towards them. They’re holding onto the bows and the arrows were pointing out to them; ready to release them at any minute.

Sensing the death that was just in front of his eyes; he pulled her body around as they’re switching their place. An arrow was released; the tearing as well as the scraping sound emitted as it went through his skin.

The blood spilled out from his mouth in that instant.

“Y-yunho…” The blood spurted out from her lips and hit his face as she coughed.

His eyes widened as he looked down; finally realized that his attempt to save her apparently failed. They stood so close. The arrow had pierced through their bodies both at the same times.

*Year 2013

Yunho’s eyes flew open when the pain suddenly strikes him. He’s having trouble in breathing with his mouth hanged wide open; gasping for the air.

Feeling like his stomach twisted; he jumped from his bed and scampered to the bathroom urgently. He then dropped his knees down on the tiles; his hands both reaching for the toilet bowl and poured out a huge amount of blood from his mouth into it.

“AAARRGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Yunho groaned in pain.

“Yunho-ah! Are you okay?!” Yoochun; his housemate burst into his room soon after he heard the sound of he’s vomiting and screaming.

Didn’t surprise to see the red color fill up the white toilet bowl; he flushed it and helped his friend to stand up.

“Let’s get you to the bed…” Yoochun led him back to his bed and lay him down slowly.

Yunho inhaled deeply and breathed out.

“Better now?”

Letting out a brief whimper; Yunho nodded.

Staring into Yunho red-rimmed eyes; Yoochun sighed. He got used to this scene after being his housemate for 3 years but still…he couldn’t help but to worry about him each time it occurred.

“You’ve been dreaming about it again?” Yoochun guessed.

“It happened so frequent lately…” Yunho his lips and carefully lifted up his shirt until his chest; revealing the biggest coin size of scar on his stomach. And he also has a similar one at the back.

Yoochun winced at the look of it. He didn’t have to ask Yunho to know that it really hurt. The scar’s reddening fiercely whenever he got that dream.

“I could feel it’s burning through my flesh!” Yunho groaned inwardly.

“You want me to get you some ices?” Yoochun offered kindly.

“That would help me…thanks…”

Yoochun nodded and jogged out from Yunho’s room; heading straight to the kitchen.

Yunho on the other hand rose up to his feet and went to stand in front of the full length mirror stand to view the scars on his body; both at the front and the back.

“Yunho-ah...let’s run away together!”

Yunho closed his eyes as the same voice echoed. The desperation and the pain that mirrored in her eyes caused Yunho’s heart aching even more.

Yoochun came back bringing along a bucket of ice. He then wrapped some of the ices with the cloth and handed it to Yunho. He watched as Yunho pressed it softly on the scar.

He pity Yunho but at the same time; he couldn’t help but to feel mesmerize as he’s seeing the unique scars on Yunho’s body. He recalled the first time he saw Yunho without his shirt on; he thought that Yunho was shot by an arrow and survived from the tragic accident.

Yunho had a hard time to convince Yoochun that there’s no such thing as accident because he was born with those kinds of scars. Weird as it sounds and amazing as it looks but that was the truth.

“What’s wrong?” Yoochun asked when noticed Yunho’s spacing out a lot.

Yunho was a bit hesitated to answer but considering that Yoochun is his best friend and he sacrificed his times as well as his sleeps a lot just to help Yunho; he thought Yoochun deserve to know.

“The dream…”

“What about the dream?” Yoochun knitted his brows together. That was the first time Yunho opened up about the dream. If it’s before; Yunho would never spill it even if Yoochun begged him to tell.

He tried to understand Yunho and respect his decision even though he’s dying to know what kind of dream he’s having. Who wouldn’t feel interested to know? Yunho vomited blood whenever he awoke by that dream. The scars flared in red after that.

They went to several hospitals before but what the doctors told them was the same.

Yunho’s completely fine and healthy. There’s nothing wrong with him at all.

“It might sound weird…but I think; this incident has something to do with the past…”

“T-the past? As in…?”

“My past life…” Yunho nodded assuring him.

“The dream…it’s more like a flashback of my memories…I never told you before; because it’s just a piece of it…even I couldn’t explain it…but I don’t know why; the frequent I dreamt about it; the more it’s clearer…”

Yoochun frowned harder. Yunho hurried on.

“…I know it had something to do with my past life…no…I’m convinced it’s connected with the past because this time…” Yunho paused as he his bottom lip.

“…the girl I fell in love with; called my name…I heard she called ‘Yunho’…and I saw how I got this scars…an arrow pierced through my body; our bodies together…”

“How could you tell that it’s from the past…? Maybe it’s in this life…and the trauma caused you to lose your memory? Who knows…” Yoochun just wanted to make sure.

“The surrounding…the wardrobe…everything…it’s like you’re watching the historical drama…and the arrow was released from one of the horsemen whom after us.” Yunho countered.

“It does sound like a drama…” Yoochun commented.

Yunho shrugged off. It doesn’t surprise him if Yoochun doesn’t believe him.

“There’s only one thing we can do to find out about this…” Yoochun’s sudden suggestion alert Yunho.

“How?”

“Let say if your dream is real…then the girl must be real too…I mean…the only thing that makes this plausible if the girl too exist in this life…”

“I guess so, why?”

“We should find her then…” Yoochun suggested simply.

“Well..I don’t mean to argue but how are we going to find her; actually? Because she wasn’t the only girl in this world…maybe she wasn’t even a Korean?!” Yunho threw both of his hands to the air.

“You heard her called you by your name…so I assumed that you probably knew her name too…”

 “I…” Yunho pondered. Did he?

“I don’t think so…” Yunho brought his finger to massage his temple.

“What about the face then? We can ask someone to draw based on it and then print it out…and put on the search list…”

Yunho’s mouth moved like he was about to say something only to close it back. His eyes blinked rapidly; trying to recall her face.

“I…I don’t remember…all I could remember is her eyes…her beautiful eyes…big doe eyes and her black shining orbs…I could see my face reflected on those eyes…”

Both of them exhaled in frustration. They weren’t getting anywhere with that kind of information.

“Then how did you know that it was a ‘she’?” Yoochun brought up an unexpected question.

Yunho startled. He was the one who’s frowning hard this time.

“Well…because that’s logical to my mind? You’re not…” Yunho read the expression written on Yoochun’s face.

“You think so?!” Yunho raised his voice a little bit at the end.

“I’m just stating the possibility…” Yoochun then pursed his lips.

*At the same time

In an apartment somewhere in Seoul; someone’s facing the same situation like Yunho. It’s not just to the extent of vomiting blood but even worst; a line of blood oozed out from the scar.
