Prologue

A soft tune hummed the air. In contrast, crashing footsteps raced, tripping and fumbling to the door only to discover it locked.

Large hands thumped the wooden barrier. It was the one thing that prevented freedom.

The anarchist panicked as the gentle tone drew closer. On other days, he would have applauded it, but not today.

He shoved his build against the door hoping to break it. The only thing on his mind was liberation. He wanted to be as far away from the singing-demon-of-death as possible.

A series of screams echoed from him. He bashed the door with all his might, his flesh tore on impact, but he felt no pain.

The agony to come would be much more fearful.

The villain was behind him now. He didn’t dare turn around, afraid of those large beady eyes. His breath shortened as his ears strained to hear something, anything that would console him before his final moments.

His heart lurched against his rib cage, traitorously threating to burst out and free itself from the dread.

He knew it would be a harrowing death.

When he’d seen the others he hadn’t paid heed. If he’d know he was next, he might have planned something, but it was already to late.

A sharp blow pierced his skin. He stumbled, his head hit the door, he assumed this was it. Raw affliction, something he’d never tasted before, seared his body.

His facial muscles spasmed when he caught sight of the eyes he had been trying to avoid. Those cold, menacing, soulless pits looked back at him derisively.

“Any last words?”

An elegant bloodied font was left behind. It spelt: 'Don’t trust anyone!'

And that was it…

Chapter 1: This has got to be my fav crime-thriller fic. I love love loooove the detailed descriptions on how the victims were murdered --very Hannibal-esque. And truthfully i didn't expect it to be Boa until the veryyy last bit. I've been suspecting Soo all the time.. tho you didn't disappointment by showing his true colors in the end. Exceptionally well written fic which I can foresee myself reading it again in the future. ^^
