After the call Kyungsoo received from his mother asking his whereabouts as it was quarter to ten in the evening—damn curfews, the gathering was ended.

The teasing dramatic goodbyes to each other and the enthusiastic goodbyes of Jongdae’s parents distracted Baekhyun of Chanyeol’s earlier answer that was left uncommented by the frozen brunette. He was half looking forward and half dreading the moment he seats himself in Chanyeol’s car to be dropped off; once they are left alone.

He still did not know how to react—was that a confession? Was Chanyeol serious? He was joking right? What was he supposed to say? Was he even expected to react? To answer?

The first long minutes of the car ride back to university were spent in silence; only the sound of the outside road and the car’s engine was heard.

Baekhyun was looking out the window watching Chanyeol’s reflection as he drove. His answer earlier was never brought up and now he begins to question if what he heard was right. The taller didn’t seem to be lost in his own thoughts either; he just has the usual blank look on his face Baekhyun was accustomed to.

Halfway through the ride, Baekhyun was conflicted—to ask, or not to ask.. to speak, or not to speak.. to bring it up, or to not bring it up.. asjdhgak.

He did not notice Chanyeol’s glances towards him or the open stares at the two red lights they passed. His mind was too mixed with thoughts and conflicts that he was too busy fidgeting and trying to not hyperventilate.

The sudden warmth over his fidgeting hands above his lap snapped him back to reality, Chanyeol was holding them. At this he looked up at Chanyeol only to see his usual blank face looking straight and focused on driving.

For a moment, he simply stared the hand over his. A small smile and a faint blush on his cheeks appeared and with that, he turned over his hand to interlace their fingers.

Baekhyun did not notice the same small smile that appeared on Chanyeol’s. To him, Baekhyun’s action was a silent answer of ‘me too’.

The car was parked behind the rows of trees behind Green Park Paths; the two people inside remained as if they had no plans to part. Inside was still silent, save for the peaceful sounds of the trees swaying on the background and the melodic wind that breezed through the slightly open windows. Their hands were still interlaced, none of them making the first move to separate.
