Chapter 15

 Babysitting

You received a phone call earlier and got surprised to hear that it was Yongguk’s sister Natasha in the line. She told you that she would be coming over for the evening, because her son wanted to play with Ki Joon and you said okay to that.

You hadn’t seen her since the day you met her the first time with the rest of the Bang family. A week or so had passed since you last saw any of Yongguk’s family members.

You thought that it was a good idea for the two little boys to meet and play together. They got along really well the first time they met. Ki Joon could use some friends of his age as well. You couldn’t wait to tell him about it and hurried to him.

Ki Joon was watching cartoon on the iPad as you walked into the living room. He was fully concentrated on watching Winnie the Pooh. You remembered that Yongguk made him watch the cartoon and Ki Joon began to like it a lot. He had been watching it a lot lately. You sat down beside him on the couch and rubbed his back gently. You smiled and told him about Min Jun.

“Ki Joon-ie, your cousin Min Jun is coming to play with you today.” You said.

The little one turned his attention towards you and his eyes shone.

“We can play today?” He asked in a cute way with clear excitement and you nodded smiling.

The little one jumped excitingly in the couch and you laughed at his actions.

“Yay” He squealed and you laughed wholeheartedly, when you saw how happy he got.

“Be careful.” You said as he kept jumping on the couch and you grabbed his small hand, so that he wouldn’t fall from the couch.

Ki Joon sat back down and giggled happily. It was your first time seeing him get that excited over meeting someone. He must really like Yongguk’s nephew Min Jun. You smiled from ear to ear. This was a great progress for Ki Joon.

Ki Joon continued watching Winnie the Pooh. He would giggle now and then as he watched the cartoon. He had the sweetest voice and you sat beside him and watched the cartoon and spoke about it.

Yongguk was getting ready for a meeting and you sat together with Ki Joon once he walked into the living room. He walked beside you and you looked up at him. Your eyes met. He was wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt and a black blazer. He was dressed quite simple, yet neatly and he looked really good.

Why am I staring at him?

You quickly broke off the gaze and looked back at the cartoon. Yongguk cleared his throat and spoke as he looked at you.

“I’ll be back in a few hours. I got a meeting with some producers.” He said.

You looked back up and you nodded briefly. Yongguk pursed his lips and then walked in front of the little one and sat down beside him. You watched Yongguk as he spoke to Ki Joon.

“Are you watching Tigger?” He asked and Ki Joon nodded whilst smiling.

“Tigger can jump with his tail! and he is so fast.” The little boy said and he sounded so ecstatic and it made Yongguk chuckle.

“That’s right” Yongguk said and he patted the little boy’s head gently.

You looked at the two boys and smiled. Ki Joon really liked watching Winnie the Pooh and knowing that Yongguk liked Tigger too made you chuckle. They seemed quite alike now and then. You continued smiling unknowingly. It was a sort of childish that a grown man still liked Tigger. You wondered why he did.

“Tigger is cool right?” Yongguk said.

Ki Joon nodded and smiled. Yongguk ruffled the little boy’s hair. He then leaned down and ace his round squishy cheek a soft peck. It made the little boy giggle and hide himself into you.  You couldn’t help but laugh at Ki Joon’s shy reaction and Yongguk chuckled. He seemed to really like it, but he would also feel shy, whenever Yongguk would kiss him.

“I’m going to work now. I’ll be back soon okay.” He said with a smile and Ki Joon nodded whilst he hid his face and clung onto you.

You shook your head at Ki Joon’s shyness and told him to say goodbye to Yongguk. But the little boy held onto you tightly and you shook your shoulders, when your gaze met Yongguk’s.

Yongguk looked towards you and the pair of you made eye contact and smiled at this. Yongguk got up from the couch and was about to leave, but Ki Joon got a hold of his leg all of a sudden and it made Yongguk stop, surprised.

Ki Joon never stopped Yongguk, when he left for work hence you looked surprised at Ki Joon and back at Yongguk.

Yongguk quickly bent down and looked at Ki Joon.

“What’s the matter buddy?” Yongguk asked as he rubbed the little boy’s back gently.

Ki Joon tucked into Yongguk’s chest, he wrapped his short arms around Yongguk’s waist and held him tightly. Yongguk was taken back at this suddenness from Ki Joon.

However, it warmed his heart. Yongguk smiled brightly upon the little one’s sudden cute action and chuckled. Just a second ago he was feeling shy and hiding. Now he was hugging him.

“I want a hug.” He said shyly and you smiled widely at the view and upon hearing Ki Joon’s confession.

Yongguk quickly pulled Ki Joon in his arms and got up from the ground with him. He pecked his cheek one a last time and hugged him into him. Yongguk closed his eyes as he held the little boy in his arms.

You couldn’t help but notice how lovingly Yongguk held onto the little boy. You could clearly feel the bond and love that he had for the kid. You pursed your lips and frowned. Your heart was beating fast. You tugged on your chest and looked back at Yongguk.

“I love you Ki Joon.. I promise I’ll be back quick.” He said.

You froze as you heard Yongguk’s heartfelt confession to the little boy. Every word could be felt. Ki Joon held onto Yongguk and nodded. You felt warm inside. Yongguk had this unknown side to him.

You furrowed your brows. You rarely saw him get so warm. But you figured that it was Ki Joon, who brought out his inner warm side. You suddenly felt uncanny inside and shook your head at yourself.

 “Have fun with your cousin.” Yongguk said as he patted the little one’s head and Ki Joon nodded smiling.

Yongguk put Ki Joon down and turned to look at you. You were looking at the ground and your mind was elsewhere.

“See you later.” He said to you.

You looked up and met Yongguk’s gaze. You quickly nodded back.  

A while later, after Yongguk left for work, it finally knocked on the door and you opened it. Yongguk’s sister was standing at the door with her son beside her and her baby daughter in her arms. Natasha smiled upon seeing you and pulled you in to embrace you.

You felt a bit taken back at her hugging you, but quickly gave her a hug back. It still felt so odd to be around Yongguk’s family. But you had to keep up with that act and God knows for how long.

The little boy Min Jun greeted you and then he hurried off to find Ki Joon and play. The two of you saw the little boy run off and giggled. They were clearly fond of each other.

“Did Yongguk leave for work?” She asked and you nodded.

“He left a while ago.” You said and she nodded.

She was silent for a while and you looked at her questioning.

“Aren’t you coming inside?” You asked her and she shook her head.

“I actually have a favor to ask of you.” She said and paused.

You wondered what it was.

“Can you please take care of the little one for a while? The thing is that I planned to take my daughter out with me, but my husband has something planned for me. And I don’t have anyone, who can babysit her now. Mom and dad are out. Yongnam is out of city with his friends for a running competition.” She said and she sounded quite desperate for help.

“I understand if you can’t.” She quickly added.

She asked you so kindly and you could see that she really didn’t know what to do. You looked at the little girl in her arms. The baby named Areum, was smiling and looking at you with wide eyes. You giggled and her cheek lightly.

“Aren’t you adorable.” You said whilst looking into the baby’s eyes girl.

“Of course, I’ll take care of her. You don’t have to worry about it.” You quickly said with a smile.

You really wanted to babysit Areum. Just by looking at the baby, your heart squealed. She was really adorable and a pretty little baby girl.

Natasha sighed of relief and pulled you in for a hug. You laughed and hugged her back. She then handed you the baby-bag with the important things for the baby. She thanked you many times before leaving.

“Call me if there’s anything, sis in law.” She said before leaving and you nodded.

“Sis in law.” You muttered her words and shook your head, wondering about how long you had to keep up this act of being Yongguk’s fiancé.

It was so odd to be called sister in law by Yongguk’s family members. You really didn’t like lying to his family. They are all treated you so kindly as if you were their real family. It made you feel uncanny again. You shook your head. The baby Areum made sounds. You looked down at her face and saw her smiling widely.

“Do you like it too, seeing me in this situation, huh?” You asked her.

The baby looked at you clueless. You shook your head and closed the door.

“Anyone, who want pancakes?” You asked as you walked into the house.

The boys exclaimed from the living room that they wanted pancakes and you chuckled. Of course the do.

You were making pancakes, while the little baby was in her baby chair, munching on a bun that you gave her. You made faces now and then to her and she laughed whole heartedly. You looked at her in awe. You loved it when she laughed. She would wiggle her tiny arms and legs.

“You’re so adorable.” You said and you pecked her cheek.

She jumped in the chair cheerfully and you giggled once more. Her big brother Min Jun came running to her and looked up at her from the chair.

“She is my baby sister.” He said and you nodded.

“Yes she is and she is really cute.” You cooed and he nodded and her cheek.

You smiled as you watched Min Jun caress his baby sister Areum’s cheek.  Ki Joon also came running into the kitchen now. He stood next to Min Jun and looked at Areum.

“Are the two of you having fun playing?” You asked them.

They nodded and giggled. You smiled happily.

Ki Joon was gazing at the baby girl with curiosity.

“You can touch her too.” You said.

Ki Joon slowly moved his hand up and Areum’s cheek. The baby giggled and Ki Joon gapped. You laughed at his reaction and so did Min Jun. Ki Joon then her hair gently and you giggled.

“She’s cute right?”

Ki Joon nodded, but he kept looking at the baby and you giggled once more.

“The pancakes are soon ready. You can play some more.” You said and they exclaimed and laughed.

“Yaay, let’s play with cars. I have to show you my new playroom.” Ki Joon chimed and the little boys went upstairs to the playing room.

You laughed by yourself. “Kids are so adorable and innocent.” You said to yourself and the baby smiled by itself and you laughed.

“You are adorable too.” You chimed and she giggled and wiggled her arms, as if she understood you.

Areum had round cheeks that looked like pink apples, she had her hands in the air and her body was rocking back and forth in the chair. She was ecstatic. You laughed at her cuteness and she giggled at you, because you made funny faces.

“It could be nice having a little one like you in the house.” You cooed.

Hours had already passed since Yongguk left for the meeting and it was afternoon. You had the little girl in your arms as you were feeding her bottle milk. She was drinking diligently with her eyes closed and you smiled. It seemed like she was drifting off to sleep. She was also really tired, just like you were. Taking care of kids is really hard.
