Chapter 11

The Bang Family

The whole morning you had spent it with cooking, cleaning and preparing the things for the Bang's family. You didn’t quite know why you were working so hard with getting things ready.

But you naturally felt the nervousness build up inside you. You were going to meet Yongguk’s family for the first time and you had to put on an act in front of them- as a couple.

You actually don’t want his family to have a bad impression of you. Yongguk’s family will also become a part of Ki Joon’s life and you would most likely see them a lot in the future. Hence the nervousness was getting to you and you were even more nervous, because you had to act like you were Yongguk’s girlfriend.

You didn’t know how act like his girlfriend. The two of you weren’t even that close to pull of that kind of act. Yongguk was not home. Apparently he would come with his family. 

You were more nervous than you had expected to be. The thought about pretending to be Yongguk's girlfriend freaked you out a bit. The two of you hadn’t even talked things out and prepared. You knew you were overthinking and just needed to be yourself and calm.

When you had prepared everything, it was time to get ready for the evening. Even that took a great while, you were stressing with finding the right outfit, you didn’t want to look too much or like someone, who doesn’t care about their looks.

After tossing around and trying out different outfits, you had finally found one. You decided to wear a white pencil skirt with a peach colored blouse that had a v-cut and long sleeves. The outfit gave off a feeling of independence, but you also looked a bit conservative.

You slipped into some short heels that matched your blouse. You wore silver earrings and kept your hair loose, in waves.

You finished getting Ki Joon ready just on time. You had explained to him about who was coming and it finally knocked on the door. Ki Joon looked up at you and you looked into his round eyes.

“I’ll get the door.” You said.

You walked to the front door and took a deep breath, your heart was racing all of a sudden and you finally opened the door.

You were greeted with happy faces and a woman, who was very short and slim. She hugged you tightly and you froze in her arms. You were overwhelmed by her warmness and her open personality.

You knew this was Yongguk’s mother and she was really happy to see you. Your eyes quickly wandered to Yongguk whilst his mother was hugging you. You couldn’t read his face at all, because he had a blank expression.  

You gazed back at his mother, you could tell that Yongguk had his smile from her. She had a small face, round small eyes and short curly hair. She looked really cute, you thought to yourself and smiled. You quickly bowed and greeted her the right way and she smiled.

You looked up at Yongguk, he was wearing a blue shirt with a few buttons open and he had his sleeves rolled up and he wore a white t-shirt beneath. You noticed that he was wearing white jeans today and it’s your first time seeing him in white jeans.

As much as you wanted to deny it, he looked really good. He looked way too good and he had his hair pulled back.

Then you looked at an older man, who must be Yongguk’s father. He stood in the corner and he was really silent. You met his gaze, he smiled and finally shook your hand and you bowed politely. He had a really warm smile.

“Hi, I’m Natasha, Yongguk’s older sister” She smiled.

She also greeted you with a hug and you kindly hugged her back. It felt weird being greeted with so much kindness and warmness. Yongguk's sister was together with her husband and their two children.

Yongguk’s sister really stood out. She had short hair, deep dimples, big eyes and she too had the same smile like Yongguk. However, you couldn’t help but notice her tattoos as they all stood out. She looked really cool, you thought to yourself but also kind. Her husband looked kind too, he had a beard and also a lot of tattoos.

Natasha was carrying the little one in her arms and you could see that she was only some months old. She looked really adorable and they also bad a little boy, who seemed to be around the same age of Ki Joon. The little boy was holding onto his father’s leg and he looked up at you, shyly.

“Min Jun-ah, greet Sera.” Natasha’s husband said to his son.

Natasha laughed, when she saw how shy her son was getting. “He gets shy around pretty women” she said and you somehow looked towards Yongguk.

Yongguk just stood still. You smiled and looked at the little boy, who was blushing more. The little boy named Min Jun blushed as he looked at you. He finally reached his hand up to you. You awed and reached your hand down to shake his.

“Nice to meet you.” He said and you awed again.

He was really cute. He reminded you of your Ki Joon and you hoped that the two little boy’s would get a long and become friends, perhaps.

Your eyes wandered to Yongguk’s brother, who looked similar to Yongguk. He chuckled, when he saw you goggling at him and you quickly apologized. However, he shook his head as though he had expected you to be surprised to see him.

“Hi, nice to finally meet you. I’m Yongnam.” He said and you shook his hand.

Yongguk mentioned that he had a twin brother. However, he didn’t say that were quite identical. His voice was also deep, but even though they were twin brothers you could see that there was a difference between them. He was holding bags in his hand and you could tell that it was all toys for Ki Joon.

After greeting the Bang family, they all walked into the living room and Yongguk was just behind you. He noticed that you had dressed prettily and you wore a skirt with heels.

Yongguk couldn't help but grin. He hadn’t expected you to prepare so much and even make yourself look good. He was satisfied that you were carrying on with the acting.

"Where's my grandson?" Mrs. Bang asked and you noticed that Ki Joon had left the living room. 

"He probably got shy and went upstairs." Yongguk said. "I'll go get him" he smiled as he turned towards the stairs.

However, you quickly followed after Yongguk and got further away from his family. Yongguk’s family watched you follow Yongguk and they giggled, thinking that you were shy to be alone with them and they were right. However, you were rather scared than shy.

You quickly walked up to Yongguk and stopped him. He turned around and looked at you with raised brows and he had a questioning look on his face, obviously because you were grabbing onto his arm.

You hesitated to ask him to stay behind, because you felt embarrassed. Yongguk looked down at his arm that you were holding and then back into your eyes. You let go of his hand and flushed.  

"I'll go get Ki Joon… Don't leave me alone with your family." You whispered nervously and stole a quick glance at his family. They were looking at the pair of you.

Yongguk chuckled all of a sudden, when he noticed how nervous you looked and were. Then he moved close to you, your eyes widened as he leaned into you and whispered in your ear.

"Remember that we are a couple." He said and you blinked your eyes a couple of times as you looked into his eyes.

The both of you had to act like a couple in front of his family and it made you nervous.

“Go get him.” He said.  

You sighed of relief and quickly walked away. Once you were upstairs, you took a moment to collect yourself. You took a deep breath and told yourself to calm down and act natural. Then you walked into Ki Joon’s room and found him there playing with his red race- car and you bent down to him.

“Ki Joon-ie, come downstairs and meet Yongguk’s family.” You said in a sweet tone with a smile.

The little kid placed the car away, he reached his hand out to you as you got up. You smiled and grabbed a hold of his small hand. The both of you went down to Yongguk’s family, who were in the living room. As soon as you came down the stairs, Ki Joon saw the family, he hid behind your leg and you giggled.

“Ki Joon-ah.” You cooed, but he hid behind your leg.

Yongguk noticed the two of you, and that Ki Joon was hiding. Yongguk quickly walked up to the little boy and bent down to him.

“Hey champ.” Yongguk chuckled.

You looked down and saw the two boys look at each other and Yongguk was smiling to the little boy.

“You don’t have to be shy.” He said with a smile.

“Come.”

Yongguk opened his arms to Ki Joon and gestured for the kid to come closer and the little boy slowly let go of your leg. Ki Joon moved into Yongguk’s arms and he picked him up in his arms.

“My good boy.” He said, smiling at the kid.

Ki Joon got shy at Yongguk’s words and you also smiled.

“Come Kwon.” He called out your name and reached his hand out to yours and you looked at him, with furrowed brows.

“You know how it goes.” He winked at you, reminding you of your act as a couple.

You rolled your eyes and gave your hand to Yongguk. He grabbed it. You held your breath for a moment.  You noticed how soft and warm his hands were. Yongguk grabbed a hold of your hand. He had a gentle hold. Yongguk then led the two of you into the living room to his little family and smiled as he saw his family waiting.

Yongguk held Yongguk with one arm, the little boy wrapped his legs around Yongguk and held onto him. Yongguk looked down at Ki Joon and pressed his lip on his small forehead. His hearted melted, because of the boy.

You looked at Yongguk and then down to your hands. It felt weird holding his hand and walking in to his family, like you were a real family. They all smiled as they saw the three of you.

“What a cute little boy.” Yongguk’s big sister said, when she saw Ki Joon.

Yongguk’s mother awed at Ki Joon and she also noticed how Yongguk held your hand and she giggled. She then walked towards the three of you and smiled at Ki Joon.

“Hello my little grandson.” She said whilst smiling so warmly and Ki Joon hid his face into Yongguk’s chest, shyly.

Everyone around you awed at the little boy. Even you melted, when you saw how Ki Joon held onto Yongguk. Yongguk laughed out loud and he too melted. Yongguk looked down at the little boy in his arms and chuckled. Ki Joon was too adorable.

“Ki Joon-ie, say hi to my mom.” Yongguk said.

The little boy slowly looked up at Yongguk’s mother with a shy smile and she giggled upon his adorable gestures.

“Can I hold you?” She asked and the little boy reached out for her.

You were startled to see how quick Ki Joon got close to Yongguk’s mother, but Yongguk on the other hand wasn’t that surprised. He knew how good his mother was with kids and smiled upon seeing his little boy hug his mother for the first time. Yongguk had waited for this moment to happen, he had really looked forward to Ki Joon meeting his family.

Yongguk’s brother went towards Ki Joon and smiled. The little boy looked at him surprised, because he looked like Yongguk. Ki Joon’s eyes widened for a moment. It made all of you laugh and Yongnam took out a gift for Ki Joon.

“I brought you a big Tigger.” He said.

“I heard from Yongguk that you also like Tigger’s” he said with a smile and the little boy nodded.

“He already has Tiggers!” Yongguk quickly said and his brother made a face.

You giggled as you saw Ki Joon take the stuffed animal and you couldn’t help but smile. This family must really like Tigger you thought. But you noticed how they were all so kind.

The whole family sat in the living room and you looked at Mr. and Mrs. Bang and smiled. You were hoping that Yongguk’s mother wouldn’t ask you any awkward questions, which you won’t have an answer to.

“I can’t believe Yongguk didn’t tell us about you earlier.” His mother said.

You looked up at her and smiled shyly, not knowing what to say back. Yongguk pursed his lips and just chuckled.

“How could you keep such a secret from us.” The father finally asked and Yongguk looked down now as his father got serious.

Everyone became silent and Yongguk’s mother quickly laughed- “Honey, you know how Yongguk can be such a private person.”

Yongguk’s father pursed his lips and looked at his son.

“Is my son treating you well? He is usually bad at expressing his feelings sometimes” Mrs. Bang asked and changed the subject.

This question caught you off guard. You felt really awkward now and didn’t know what to say. You thought to yourself how annoying Yongguk could be or correctly, frustrating and hard to get along with, at times. However, you couldn’t tell her that as you had to pretend to be his girlfriend.

You had to pretend that you were in love and happy, like normal couple. Hence, you simply nodded.

“He treats me well.” You said.

“Mom.” Yongguk groaned at his mother’s words and she giggled back.

“You are very beautiful my dear.” She complimented you.

You couldn’t help but blush at her kind words. She was truly kind and you wondered why Yongguk didn’t get that kind side from her.

“Yongguk go sit beside Sera.” His brother said and scoffed, because Yongguk wasn’t sitting with you, like he was supposed to.

You looked towards Yongnam and shook your head, because it was okay that Yongguk sat next to his family. However, his mother pushed Yongguk lightly. She too thought that the pair of you should be sitting together.

“Get your up and sit beside her.” She said, because he wasn’t moving and you couldn’t help but laugh at her words.

Yongguk heard you laugh, he shot you a death stare, secretly as he walked up to you. You made a straight face and smiled to his family. The father shook his head at the pair of you. Yongguk finally sat down beside you on the couch. You ignored his stare. Yongguk sat down silently next to you.

Yongguk’s father exchanged gazes with his wife, Yongguk’s mother and you could analyze that he was telling her not to bug you and Yongguk. You couldn’t help but smile. Yongguk’s father seemed to be really down to earth, calm and a quiet man. Then you thought about how Yongguk also seemed quiet and mysterious, just like his father.

Ki Joon sat down beside Yongguk’s nephew Min Jun and they played with the stuffed Tigger and Ki Joon’s red car. He seemed to be less shy now and you smiled and looked towards the other’.
