Crush ft. Gray - Whatever You Do

Jihae was waiting patiently for her boyfriend, Simon to come back. He had been at work and was heading back home by now. When he called her asking about dinner, Jihae replied back by saying she was too lazy to make any, which was why he was bringing takeaway home.

She had basically nothing to do which was why she was surfing online on her laptop. She searched on the several online stores, just to make sure she had ordered everything she needed. The moment she was done she wrinkled her nose seeing a love calculator advertisement popping up on her screen. “What’s this?” She chewed on her bottom lip seeing a huge red heart popping on her screen. She needed to type in her own name and her significant other’s to see the result of them fitting together or not.

Jihae didn’t have anything better to do which was why she shrugged and went along with the idea of giving it a try. No harm would be done, right? Well, she didn’t think so, which was why she typed in both of their names and clicked enter. A bar was getting filled up from 0 % all the way to 100 % before the result would appear. While waiting patiently she puffed up her cheeks and got comfortable in bed, with a pillow placed behind her which she leaned against.

Finally the bar stopped at 100 % and Jihae drew her face closer to the laptop screen just waiting for the best outcome. But instead, a big fat red 20% flashed in the middle of the page, and her heart just sunk to her stomach. She only snickered and clicked on the back button only to try once again. She wrote both of their names only this time the results popped up instantly. She blinked. “No way…” She mumbled under her breath.

Jihae read the paragraph beneath the number and her eyes widened as she read over each word carefully, making sure she was hanging on every word.

‘The chance of a relationship working out between Simon and Jihae is not very big, but a relationship is very possible, if the two of you really want it to, and are prepared to make some sacrifices for it. You’ll have to spend a lot of quality time together. You must be aware of the fact that this relationship might not work out at all, no matter how much time you invest in it’

Jihae tried everything; she refreshed the page only to see the same paragraph appearing on her screen and the percentage. She tried looking for any errors, if she had spelled their name correctly. But everything seemed perfectly fine. She fell into deep thoughts thinking what her friends had told her all this time probably was true after all. They really didn’t match. They weren’t meant to be. The love calculator was right, a relationship was possible but a lot of sacrifices had to be made. She made all of them, he made none.

With a sigh she rubbed her hands against her temples trying to think positive and not get gloomy over a stupid test. But she couldn’t help but feel that it was accurate. Maybe this was what she was looking for all this time? Maybe she shouldn’t have fought with her friends to show them how wrong they were of Simon. For some odd reason her eyes began to water.

“Babe, set the table the food’s here” Jihae’s ears perked up hearing the front door opening and him taking off his shoes. She gulped down her lump formed in and tried wiping away her tears only to have new ones replacing the old ones. By the sound of his voice she knew for sure he was cheerful today. Her eyes lingered on the digital clock by her bed and noticed that he had been away for quite some time. Had he met someone before buying the food? Is that why he was happy?

Footsteps approached the living room and his voice echoed inside the house. “Babe?” The sound of him placing the bag with their food on the coffee table was heard. He headed for the kitchen and to his dismay she wasn’t there either. His pace increased and his steps stopped by the doorway of their shared bedroom.

“Baby?” He voiced out and she could hear him smile and she couldn’t help but frown with her head ducked and her hair curtaining for her face. “Why didn’t you reply all this time? The food’s here I brought your favor-“ He stopped in the middle of h
