Remember the Messenger
Description
Not many in the city had heard of the Kingdom Boys. They weren't supposed to. There were plenty of groups, gangs, and organizations that overran the city, but none of them were quite like the group that lived together in the Hangar on the outskirts of town.
It is raining the night Hansol gives up.
He has felt out of place his whole life, not only because his hair has been mysteriously blond since birth, but because of the strange ability that allows him to taste and smell and see and hear emotions the way others experience the physical world.
That night in the rain he had driven off the one person who has ever made him feel a chance to belong.
That same night a man with an umbrella shows up and offers him a place to stay.
When Hansol accepts the offer, he has no idea what he is walking into.
They call themselves members of the Kingdoms or Kingdom boys. Hansol has heard worse names for a gang so he doesn’t question it. At first he believes they are just being kind to invite him in, but as time goes on Hansol begins to understand that he might just belong with this ecclectic group of strangers who are as odd as he is.
As he meets the various members who make up the group, from the aloof leader, to the prophet, to the boy with lightening in his hands, he never forgets the person he had let walk away--hoping one day to bring him too in from the rain.
Foreword
Finally.
Thank you for any old readers who have followed me here.
Thank you to new readers for taking interest in this story.
If you haven't seen, there is a series of backstories I wrote here related to this piece.
It is not necessary to read the backstories in Leaving Home to understand Remember the Messenger.
However, it may be beneficial (but not necessary) to read the Prequel "Walk Away" (Chapters 6,7,8).
The last part of "Walk Away" is immediately before the opening chapter. If you prefer a bit of mystery then carry on!
