Attack
I'm Sorry It Was You**Warning: Possible trigger up ahead**
The next morning I slept in later than I should have. I think it must have been because I had been on the phone until late last night. It was difficult because now my old best friend knew I was still in Seoul and had a lot of questions about the supposed charity work I was undertaking; even he didn’t know the whole truth.
Rushing about like a deranged person, I imagined that I looked somewhat like death as I flung myself out the door and into the lift. Checking my watch, I knew that I should be at least halfway to school by now. This wasn’t good, and I had to skip breakfast! I could tell today was not going to be pleasant.
When I exited the building, hauling my backpack with me like a mule, I made a perhaps rash decision and called a taxi for the second time in my life. Quickly hopping in, I asked the driver to take me to the block before school just so no one would see me. Luckily, traffic was minimal today and when I got out of the cab I was well on time.
I began walking along as I would normally have done until I heard a shrill laugh and the sound of someone saying my name. Turning, I saw Kim Yunseo standing amongst a large mob of her squawking friends, "What happened to you, Mira?" she asked, being way too casual for my liking. I was very aware that many people were beginning to stare at us: her smirking at me like I was prey, and me staring at her like she was a predator.
She moved her way past her friends and came to stand right in front of me, she was actually a little taller than I was, intimidating so. "Forget to check the mirror this morning, Mira?" she snidely asked, looking over me like I was the scum of the earth.
As she said this, I realised that my skirt was on the wrong way around and that my blazer’s pockets were inside out as well. A little embarrassed, I made to walk past her. She stepped into my way though and leaned closer to me, "I told you to stay away from me…and that goes for Sehun as well. He doesn’t even like you, just stay away from us."
The look on her face was oddly confident and self-righteous despite her being rejected by Sehun not even two weeks ago. I don’t know why, but for some reason I replied to her, "I thought he rejected you…" It sounded like a challenge, unintentionally I must admit.
I had never before seen someone’s face change from confident to infuriated in the space of a second before. Coming right up close to my face, she leaned in and whispered, "Watch it, Mira. I could ruin you."
I had to stop myself from raising an eyebrow because, although she was very intimidating, how could she possibly ruin me? She had no idea who I even was.
Making to walk away, my arm was caught tightly and I found myself being spun back around to face her. She then roughly shoved my shoulder so I fell backwards over the curb, my over-loaded backpack falling into a puddle on the ground where it quickly began absorbing all the muddy water. I scrambled up to save my books when I heard a satisfied ‘Mmm’ noise. Looking up, I saw Kim Yunseo smirking down at me. "That’s where you belong," she said to me quietly as she rejoined her goggling friends.
I could feel my face heat up with both embarrassment and anger, but I had to move from the scrunched up heap I was in right now. What if someone I knew saw me sitting in a puddle like this? That would be the end of both myself, and possibly my father too. Swallowing all the curses and profanities that wanted to escape my lips, I got up.
When I finally reached school and entered the corridor to my classroom, I saw Kim Yunseo standing at the other end, I rather ashamedly took the first turn-off before she could see me and I found myself in an unfamiliar area of the school.
"Mira! Mira!" I heard someone calling me. Turning around, I saw Baekhyun and Kai standing at the entrance to the corridor I had just come from.
I smiled a little at their cheery smiles. "Hi," I awkwardly greeted them, not making a move towards them.
"Aren't you coming to class?" Baekhyun asked, nodding towards the direction I knew that Kim Yunseo was in.
"Umm, yes. I just need to go down here quickly," I hurriedly said, turning back.
"But… why?" Kai asked, frowning a little. "Are you sure this is the right corridor?”
I didn’t know what was down this corridor, but I wasn’t about to go back, "Yep, this is the right one, I’ll catch you up." I spun around and hurried away from them before they could say another word. I have to admit, my face turned the reddest shade of red imaginable when I realised what the one and only door on this corridor led to: the boys’ toilets.
Crap! Peeking back at the other end of the corridor, I saw Baekhyun still standing there, arms crossed and smiling a little bit. He clearly knew this was going to happen.
I hurried back and passed him, muttering, "We’ll be late for class." As I led the way, I could hear him laughing gently as he followed me closely.
Taking my seat in class, I ignored Baekhyun’s sniggers as he sat next to me. The seat on the other side of me was empty. But then, Sehun liked coming in a little later to school.
Tapping my fingers on the table, I found myself constantly glancing at the clock. We had only been in school for an hour but it felt like an eternity. And Sehun hadn’t turned up.
"Mira?" Baekhyun began, starling me a little and causing me to jump.
"Hmm?" I turned towards him, my tapping ceasing.
"Did Sehun call you last night?"
"Call me? No," I honestly relied, but then almost rolled my eyes as I realised I would have to tell him what had happened instead. After all, if I didn’t, Sehun would. "He came round to my house and made me dinner to say sorry."
Baekhyun leaned on the table and gaped at me with widened eyes. For some reason, he reminded me of a young schoolgirl who had just received major gossip. "What did you just say?"
I frowned as I tried to
