WRITING HELP // inspiration, ideas, and more!mad obsession ;;
muse a has a brutal home life, and muse b has to live up to her social status (maintain the status quo, good grades, being conservative but still attending the major parties and such). Normally muse a wouldn’t even register on muse b’s radar. He’s an outcast, a misfit– someone with no expectations to succeed in life, no goals. Their paths cross (alphabetical seating in two of their classes) and muse a develops an attraction for muse b, a mad obsession, a desire to get under her skin, agitate her and put his demented thoughts and demons to work. But they end up bonding through words in creative writing– specifically, poetry assignments* that they must orally present to their classmates on a weekly basis. Behind closed doors (mostly study hall, where they share a worktable), they get along really well, living out some forbidden, twisted attachment. muse b gets a rush from being aroundmuse a, he’s dangerous and foreign, something she shouldn’t want or crave. But out in the open, it’s not that easy. Everybody thinks he’s a burnout with no manners, so being seen with him would be detrimental to the hierarchy- and her future, something that’s all been planned out. You see, muse b favors order. She likes things to be familiar, a routine. muse a gives her a break from this rigid schedule. But when a glimpse of muse a’s abusive home life and childhood is brought to the foreground, how will muse b react to his closeted demons? Can they handle the scrutiny, or will the structure of society tear them apart?
*This is a poetry sample from muse a, that is directed at muse b (x)
