Chapter 2.

Kyungsoo tapped the end of his pen against the desk he sat at in irritation. The classroom was empty and silent, aside from the incessant clicking caused by the end of his pen drumming against the desktop.   Kim Jongin was precisely 13 minutes late, and Kyungsoo didn't appreciate being made to wait. He wasn't particularly overjoyed that he was being made to tutor, and the fact that his student had already left a bad impression wasn't helping to improve his annoyance. Kyungsoo had better things to do than to stay at school for two hours longer than usual, pushing back his usual lesson planning time till late in the evening.    Kyungsoo's wide eyed gaze snapped up to the closed door when the sound of the handle being turned caught his attention. He watched as the door opened and a bored looking teenager entered the class.    "Ah, Mr. Kim. So nice of you to finally join" Kyungsoo immediately regretted his snarky tone — he didn't mean to seem so unwelcoming, he was just feeling a little worn.   The teenagers eyes paused on Kyungsoo for a moment before he made his way over. Kyungsoo had pulled two desks together for their lesson, and Jongin sat down opposite to him without being told. The school photo Kyungsoo had seen hadn't done the teen justice.   "I'm Mr. Do, your new advanced English teacher. I haven't been teaching long, so I hope you'll take care of me" Kyungsoo smiled, casting aside his prejudices of the teen to start fresh and introduce himself in a pleasant way. Jongin's lips twitched.   "Kim Jongin" he responded curtly.    Kyungsoo pouted at the cold reply, and Jongin's lips twitched again.    "Do you have your English books here? Let's get started then" Kyungsoo mumbled, rifling through the folder he had brought along with him. Kim Jongin seemed totally uninterested and Kyungsoo could feel his insecurities grow — he was still an inexperienced teacher and wasn't sure how to go about such situations.   "Why have you missed so much school this year?" Kyungsoo asked in an attempt to break the ice. The furrow between his brows grew as he took in Jongin's downturned head and lack of attention as the teen rummaged through a worn out backpack he had sat on his lap.   After an awkward few moments where Kyungsoo was sure that Jongin wasn't going to bother answering, the teen finally stopped moving and looked up slowly to meet Kyungsoo's gaze. His lips twitched again and Kyungsoo tilted his head to the side expectantly.    "I simply didn't feel like coming"   Kyungsoo frowned. "Why the sudden change of heart then?"   "Consider it an arbitrary decision. There was an attempt made to try and convince me to return to school. A meeting with the head teachers and principal as well as my loving father. I had no intention to agree" Jongin sneered as he mentioned his parent.    Kyungsoo smiled timidly. "Well, despite not wanting to return, the meeting has seemed to have worked in getting you back into school though, don't you think?" He felt somewhat foolish for finding himself intimated by his seventeen year old student.    Jongin's eyes seemed to glint. "Remember, I said it was an arbitrary decision. I firmly declined as I had no intention to make anyone happy, especially as I wanted nothing from this school" Noticing Kyungsoo's confused expression, Jongin broke into a strangely wolfish grin. "Let's just say I had a sudden change of heart and made a spur of the moment decision just before leaving" he jerked his thumb at the window in the direction of the entrance to the school grounds.    Kyungsoo smiled weakly, struggling to wrap his head around Jongin's explanation. "What made you change your mind then?"    The wolfish smile on Jongin's face seemed to intensify. "I saw that there had been some improvements made to the school on my way out, and decided I might be able to gain something from returning after all"               Chanyeol was slumped over his desk when Kyungsoo entered the English staff room after two gruelling hours teaching Kim Jongin all that he had missed. They had barely scratched the surface, and Kyungsoo had been hit by the enormity of the amount of work that he would probably be tutoring the teenager on.   "Oh you're back. Good timing, I just finished marking these papers" Chanyeol motioned to a stack of assignments beside him, brightening immediately after noticing Kyungsoo's presence."How was the private lesson with Jongin?"   Kyungsoo sighed as he began to pack his things away, briefcase on his desk as he slipped in a folder of class work and his laptop. "It was... unusual. He's a bit of a strange kid,  but nothing like the demon I pictured him as. The image you painted

Chapter 38: This was so beautiful. I loved the slow burn and the build up. I loved the relationships formed between the students themselves and the teachers themselves. I think everything was fleshed out well enough. This story also managed to be calm all through out? I can’t explain it well but everything was delivered superbly. It’s really rare to see fics like these where personal struggles are being expounded on. You started out with a Teacher x Student trope but ended up with so much more. The dialogue is particularly breathtaking, the lines always got me thinking myself. Thank you so much for sharing your work with us!
