“Zitao.” His mother’s voice called from where she sat by the hearth, her fingers a blur of motion as she knitted. Almost instantly moving from where he was sitting by the window, the dark haired teen walked over to her rocking chair.    “Yes mother?” He asked, tilting his head as he kneeled down beside her, his dark chocolate almond-shaped eyes scanning over her aging, yet still beautiful face.    “As you recall,” She began, still focused on her knitting to bother looking at her son. “your grandmother is not doing well. I’d like you to go over to her house see to her for the day. I have prepared some lunch for you two in the bag in the kitchen. I expect you to make sure that she is comfortable, and doing alright in these circumstances.” Nodding his head feverishly, he got back up to his feet. “Yes ma’am. I will leave at once.” He told her, giving her a bright smile before turning on his heels to fetch the satchel.    “And Zitao?” His mother called once more as he gripped onto the door handle, about to go outside. “Put on your cloak. There is a chill in the air today.” Blinking his eyes, he moved to grab the red cloak hanging by the door, slipping it on over his thin white shirt. He looked over his shoulder, giving his mother a small smile. “Thank you. I will see you later tonight.” He told her before finally opening the door and slipping out into the chilly morning air.   Shivering, he reached behind him and pulled up the hood of his red cloak, glad that his mother had insisted on wearing the red garment. Exhaling, his breath created a white cloud into the air, causing him to chuckle slightly at the sight. It was spring now, but the winter still lingered, refusing the change in seasons. Moving his feet, he began walking away from his small cottage that him and his mother called their home and towards the thick forrest that he needed to trek to get to his grandmother’s. Taking this walk hundreds of times in his life, he instantly felt at ease listening to the familiar sounds of the woods. Birds chirped happily overhead, their beautiful morning song echoing through the morning. Rustling in the brush made him turn his dark head, seeing a doe and her fawns nibble away at the fresh dew christened grass that sprung under the undergrowth. He felt his lips curve up in a smile, watching such a mundane scene of a mother and her babies.   Continuing to walk along the path, Tao found himself starting to hum quietly, a tune that his grandmother often sang to him. His voice carried though the forrest, and he soon found himself in an unfamiliar part of the woods. Ceasing his humming, he halted in his tracks, eyes wide as he looked around. He must’ve wondered off the trail and walked deeper into the woods. Capturing his bottom lip between his teeth, he urged himself to calm down, noting that where he was didn’t hold any of the familiar comfort that his woods did. He felt a surge a panic ripple through him, this part of the forrest deadly silent. Turning slightly, he figured he’d try and walk back the way he came, but no visible trail showed itself. Suddenly hearing a rustling sound off to his left, the young teen jumped, whirling around and eyes feverishly searching the spot. However, he wasn’t able to spot anything and his panic only rose.    “H-hello?” He called out, backing up until he felt his back flush against a tree. “Is there anyone out there?” He asked, as if whatever it was would answer him. Swallowing thickly, he was about to call out once more when the same rustling sound came again, this time to his right. His head snapped towards the sound, and this time he caught movement, and what he thought was a blur of dark colored fur. He let out a whimper, knowing that there was more vicious animals out here than a doe and her fawns. Slumping down against the tree, almost as if he was frozen in his spot, he pulled his knees to his chest. “L-leave me a-alone.” He whispered, shutting his eyes tightly as he heard t
