Midnight Disaster

I Couldn't Stay Away

Kyungsoo knew it was wrong to lie. When he was younger, his mom once told him that if he lied bad things would happen and that Kyungsoo wouldn't be able to grow tall like the other kids from school. Maybe that was the reason he was so short; however, Kyungsoo rarely lied.

And when he did, it was probably for a good reason.

"Sehun is so handsome and young." Luhan swoons, showing Kyungsoo a picture of the couple making cute poses together. "He's caring and sweet. Did I mention he was young?"

"Only about a million times." Kyungsoo mutters under his breath, as he took a sip of his drink. Ever since Luhan had begun dating, Sehun a young, handsome college student he was all Luhan had talked about. And frankly Kyungsoo found it annoying.  He didnt even understand why he agreed to hang out with Luhan in the first place because he already knew the latter would just talk highly of his new boyfriend.

"Did you say something?" Luhan blinks, innocently. To which Kyungsoo shook his head to in response. Luhan shrugs before changing the topic to center around Kyungsoo. "Anyways, when are you going to start dating again? It's been 3 years since you had a real relationship with someone."

"I'll start dating when I-"

Luhan rolls his eyes. He already knew what Kyungsoo was going to say next - probably because when the topic of datingwould come up, Kyungsoo would use the same excuse of how he wasn't ready to start a relationship just yet. "When you feel ready. I get it. But when are you going to be ready?"

Instead of a response, Luhan watches as Kyungsoo rolls his eyes in annoyance. Luhan lets out a soft sigh before he speaks. "Listen, I'm not trying to upset you or anything. It's just been a long time since I've seen you happy. If you want I can introduce you to one of Sehun's friends-"

"One of his hot, young friends? No, thanks! Those guys are most likely to cheat on you-" Kyungsoo stops when he sees Luhan making a face to which he quickly tries to explain himself. "I mean not that Sehun's going to cheat on you. He's probably very different from what I imagine him to be!"

"You know you should really meet him one day. I'm sure he'd be glad to see you."

After a couple more minutes of talking, mainly about how charming Sehun was and some very personal information of how the mole on Sehun's right buttcheek was a real turn on for Luhan. Kyungsoo decides it was time to excuse himself, telling Luhan he had to go and get ready for work. After paying for their lunch, the two exits the resteraunt to parts ways. Luhan and Kyungsoo have been friends for as long as they could remember. The two had met back in kindergarden, when the two were introduced to each other through a mutual friend. They exchanged toys and even napped together on the same blanket.

And from that day on they became unseperatable.

Kyungsoo loved Luhan. Who wouldn't? Luhan was perfect, he had pale skin, exotic yet soft features on his face, and charming ways that could make anyone fall in love with him, however Kyungsoo couldn't help but feel jealous. When the two were still in highschool, Luhan was everyone's ideal type. He had so many admirers that it almost became an everyday thing for Luhan to be asked out by different guys. Kyungsoo, however  just stood behind his shadows.

Jongin parks his black Ferrari by the main entrance of the Kim Realtor Services building, as he gets out of his car and proceeds to the building. He adjusts the buttons on his suit, a pricey one of a kind grey Alexander McQueen tuxedo and checks his watch. Jongin smiles in satisfaction. Just a minute to spare.

"Good morning sir." - was what Jongin hears when he finally steps foot of the building. He then gets greeted by his secretary who moves quickly to keep up with his pace, as they make their way to elevators.  Jongin looks at the amount of files, his secretary was holding and he sighs, nowing that today was going to be a very busy day. His secretary grabs his schedule from a folder and then speaks. "Today you have a meeting with the Chinese CEO of Xing Enterprises. They want to discuss a possible collaboration and transfer some of their top Chinese realtors into the company-"

"Tell them there's no need. Kim Realtor Services already has enough Chinese realtors."

"But sir-"

Jongin stops and faces her with a stern look on his face, causing her to gulp in fear. "Did you just object to what I said? I said no and as my secretary you should do as I say. Now, go and tell Xing Enterprises that the CEO of Kim Realtor Services appreciated their offer but denied it."

She nods and bows in response, following Jongin to the occupy the elevator together. The trip up the elevator was very awkward and quiet - considering the fact that the two were not on friendly terms with one another.  Most of the time Jongin just fixes himself  while his secretary stares uncomfortably at him. When the doors finally open, Jongin steps out first with his secretary following closely behind. Upon reaching his office, Jongin turns to face his secretary.

"And one more thing, you're fired."

The news about Jongin firing his secretary spreads like wildfire - mainly because that was the third employee this month that had gotten fired due to riduculous reasonings. The rumors had arose when an employee told others that she saw a girl pleading Jongin to give her a second chance and that she was sorry for what she had done to which Jongin ignored and went to his office. Of course the girl left too. She had just gotten fired and there was nothing else she could do. She already tired to ask for forgiveness but Jongin didn't care.

"Kyungsoo can you file these documents in alphabetical order?" The team manager asks, holding a stack of documents.

"Actually I'm-"

The team manager or Jongdae as he prefers to be called, places the stack of documents on top of Kyungsoo's desk with an apologetic smile on his face. "I have a date with Xuimin today. And he's going to kill me if I'm late again. Plus you owe me for getting you this job. Please."

Kyungsoo sighs in defeat. "Fine."

Jongdae smiles. "The rest is on my desk. When your done just hand them to the president. You're the best, Kyungsoo!"

It was only a couple of documents anyways. How long could it possibly take? 30 minutes? 45 minutes? An hour at the most. However, Kyungsoo was wrong. Terribly, terribly wrong because who knew that organizing 1,250 documents (yes, he counted) would take him until midnight to finish.

He's was going to kill Jongdae tomorrow. With his bare hands.

-

"Why did you cancel the date I arranged?" His mother asks, furiously, as she enters Jongin's office; however, Jongin doesn't even bother to stop what he was doing to greet his mother, because he already knew the reason why she was here. To scold him. Yet again.

Jongin sighs. Why couldn't the two have a real conversation that involved 'Hi honey how was your day' or 'What do you want for dinner today?' but instead here they were about to have an argument over the same reason. "I didnt want to go."

"You're so stubborn." His mother spat, as she shakes her head in frustration. "This is your last warning. Go on the next date I arrange for you or else you could kiss this company goodbye."

"And who are you planning to give this company too?" Jongin fires back, finally looking up at her. "I'm your only son and I doubt my sister would want to run this company. She just had her baby."

"Kim Jongin!" His mother yells, letting out all of her frustration that had been building up during the past week.

"Yes?" Jongin answers back, blinking his eyes, as if he were innocent - which he was because in his eyes he had done nothing wrong, it was his mother's fault for even setting up a date when she knew that Jongin wasn't even going to come. Before his mother could reply, he notices a small doe-eyed boy peeking through the small crack of the unclosed door. He furrows his eyebrows, he had never seen him before but Jongin shrugs, thinking that he must be a new employee. He motions the boy to come in with his hands raised. "Come in."

Kyungsoo bows politely with the organized documents in his hands, as he then enters the office which was now filled with tension and an awkward silence. As Kyungsoo makes his way towards  Jongin, Kyungsoo places the papers on his desk, still unwilling to look up at him - probably to scared to face him because of all the rumors Kyungsoo had heard about how when Jongin is upset or aannoyed, an employee will get fired despite doing nothing wrong. "These are the documents you wanted. I already arranged them in order, so I'll be taking my leave now."

Jongin watches, as Kyungsoo pivots his feet and makes his way towards the door. He knows that once the latter leaves, he would be left alone and have to listen to his mom's long speech about wanting Jongin to settle down with someone. Blah. Blah. Blah. Jongin groans, just imagining the scene over in his head. He already had a long day of work and he was too tired to have an argument with his mom. He just wanted to rest. Suddenly Jongin thought of a plan.

A genius, wonderful plan.

"Not so fast."

Kyungsoo stops at his tracks and turns to face Jongin. His eyes widen in suprise when he sees Jongin walking towards him in a hurried speed. Were the documents not to Jongin's liking? Was he going to get fired? He couldn't get fired. He just got hired 2 weeks ago. His thoughts were interrupted, however, when Kyungsoo feels something soft brush against his lips. He bats his eyes in response to the unexpected kiss he had just recieved from his boss. Kyungsoo couldn't believe it.

The boss was kissing him.

When Jongin breaks the kiss, Kyungsoo stands frozen not knowing what to do or think. He just kissed his boss. Technically the boss kissed him, but why? It didn't add up. Kyungsoo just joined the company less than a month ago and the two had only met a couple of times. In fact, they had never really talked. He didn't even know if the boss knew his name. So the reason why he had just recieved a kiss from his boss was a complete blur to Kyungsoo.

"Please stop introducing me to your friend's children. My boyfriend gets jealous easily. Right, babe?" Jongin winks, causing Kyungsoo to widen his eyes. Kyungsoo opens his mouth to speak but nothing comes out - he was too shocked and confused to say anything. Smirking at the frozen figure in front of him, Jongin takes this time to lace their fingers together.

"We'll be leaving now."

-

By the time Kyungsoo finally regains his senses, the two were already out of the building and in the parking lot. It was pretty quiet considering the fact that it was already close to 1 in the morning and all the other employes had alreayd left and were probably all at home by now. He takes his hand out of Jongin's grip and glares at the latter. Instead of yelling his frustrations out to him, Kyungsoo kicks Jongin's crotch, sending Jongin's body to come in contact with the ground.

"What the was that for?" Jongin shouts, in pain. Maybe Jongin underestimated Kyungsoo because of his height, because who knew Kyungsoo could hit that hard. "That ing hurts."

"Good." Kyungsoo replies, crossing his arms in response. "It's your fault for making me look like a fool in front of that lady. Making her believe I was your boyfriend and all."

When Jongin was finally able to get up from the ground - despite the pain still lingering in his body, he scoffs at the latter in front of him. "You should be honored to be my 'boyfriend'. Do you know how many people would want to be you right now?"

"Then why didn't you choose one of them?" Kyungsoo fires back.

"Trust me I would've. But unfortunately you were the only one available at the time. So I had no choice." Jongin replies.

Kyungsoo groans in frustration, as he puts his hands up in the air. He wanted to just beat the crap out of Jongin. Because who cares that Jongin was his boss or that he could possibly get fired. He wanted to show Jongin that he picked the wrong person to mess with.

"Look, just pretend to be my boyfriend for a while." Jongin sighs, sounding more like a desperate plead than a demand. "Just until my mom stops begging me to go on boring dates with her friend's children."

"Why?"

"Because if you dont my mom will probably keep sending me on blind dates." Jongin explains. "I just need a reason for her to stop bugging me while I'm working. And maybe if we date she'll stop. Plus, no offense but you look like the type that my mom dislikes. I want to show her that I'm fine on my own and that I dont need anyone else-"

"What do you mean the type your mother dislikes? What's wrong with me?"

"Were should I start?" Jongin scoffs. "When you came into my office your hair was a mess, meaning you're probably very disorganized. My mom likes organized neat freaks. You know the boring ones. Plus, from what I've been hearing your always late to work-"

"Not always." Kyungsoo defends himself. "I've only been late a couple of times."

"Whatever."

"What if I don't want to?" Kyungsoo replies. "Look, if you think I'm easy to get then your wrong. I only met you and I bet you don't even know my name. So there's no way I'd go out with you. "

"Then I'll fire you, Do Kyungsoo." Jongin responds. So maybe Jongin did know his name. "But if you do accept my offer then I'll promote you to my secretary. And being my secretary pays a lot of money."

Kyungsoo scoffs. "And have to be with you all day? No thanks! I'd rather get fired. You're not my type."

"Believe me you're not my type either! But it's not like you have a choice." Jongin snorts and sees Kyungsoo give him a confused look. "I already introduced you to my mom as my boyfriend. If you reject me now, my mom is going to be very upset that you lied to her. Just to let you know my mom is a very powerful women and has a lot of connections. So if I fire you, you probably won't get hired at other companies."

"But I wasn't the one who lied to her!"

"But you didn't deny what I told her." Jongin fires back. "Lets not play this game, Kyungsoo. Because we both know I'm going to win it. I think the wisest thing to do now is to take my offer. What do you say?"

When Kyungsoo doesn't respond, Jongin extends his hand out. Kyungsoo bits his bottom lip before hesitantly taking the hand in front of him. Kyungsoo was tired and figured that maybe by shaking hands with Jongin, he hoped he could finally return home and sleep. Jongin smirks.

Kim Jongin always gets what he wants.
