The City Of Love

I Couldn't Stay Away

It was impossible for Kyungsoo to be in love with Jongin. Considering the fact that Jongin was arrogant, annoying, and not to mention an . Besides Kyungsoo hasn't been in love with a person for more than over 3 years. He can't just randomly decide he has feelings for Jongin when they've only known each other for 4 months (not considering the fact that Kyungsoo's been working in his company for over a year).  Sure, Jongin was handsome and acted like a complete gentlemen a couple days ago but that didn't change the fact that Jongin was his boss, who forced Kyungsoo to be his pretend boyfriend because of his mother. There was no way he could be in love with him.

"So the meeting today was cancelled, call them and reschedule another meeting on Friday." Jongin says, as he states all of things Kyungsoo has to do for the day. Jongin watches, as Kyungsoo nods his head and lazily scribbles something into his notebook, not even bothering to spare Jongin a glance. Jongin sighs because this whole day Kyungsoo hasn't said a word to him and refuses to make eye contact with him.

"Then you have to go to the Xing Enterprises building and get some documents that need to be signed by Thursday. And don't forget that our buiness trip for France starts tomorrow so  come to the airport early tomorrow with your luggages. Do you understand?"

"Hmm."

"Buy me new dog food and feed my dogs for me."

"Hmm."

"Buy 4 watermelonds and juggle it with your hands while riding on a tricycle and sing a song."

"Hmm."

"Stop it!" Jongin shouts, causing Kyungsoo to jump. "What's going on with you? Are you sick or something? Why aren't you paying attention? If you say "hmm" one more time I swear-"

"I get it, sir. I'll go now." Kyungsoo states, still unable to look Jongin in the eye.

As he leaves Jongin's office, Jongin can't help but feel dazed and utterly confused. Kyungsoo was never like this before nor did he ever address Jongin as "sir." He ruffles his hair in frustration and thens stomps his way out of his office. He then sees Kyungsoo with his face facing the ground with no sign of life inside of him. He watches as Kyungsoo walks into a wall and bumps his head. This causes Kyungsoo to rub his forehead and wince at the pain. Jongin only laughs.

Jongin stops laughing when he realizes that Kyungsoo is actually in pain because of the accident. He grabs a bag of ice from his refridgeration and approaches the latter. He then presses the bag of ice on Kyungsoo's forehead. When Kyungsoo looks up and meets Jongin's eyes for the first time that day, Kyungsoo couldn't help but feel his heart beat faster.

"It's your fault, you know." Jongin sighs. "You were mopping around the whole day and it was bound to happen. You set yourself up for that one. Whatever's bothering you lately I hope you get rid of it, because next time you really might get hurt."

"You have no idea." Kyungsoo mutters under his breath.

"What?" Jongin asks, not understanding what Kyungsoo had said.

"Nothing."

-

"What's wrong?" Baekhyun asks, as he approaches Kyungsoo's table and takes a seat in front of the latter. He brings with him a plate of kimchi spagetti with garlic bread and hands it to Kyungsoo. Since today was a shorten day of work fro Kyungsoo, Baekhyun invited him over to his cafe to be his taste tester for their new recipes. "You've been glaring at your cup of coffee for more than 10 minutes already. Is the new blend that bad?"

Kyungsoo shook his head. "No, it's not that. It's delicious."

Baekhyun smiled. "I've been perfecting that blend for over 2 months. I'm glad you like it. Try this. It's my version of your kimchi spagetti. I followed your recipe and all but I added some additional spices to jazz it up-"

"It's delicious, Baek." Kyungsoo responds and begins to twirl another strand of spagetti with his fork. After he wipes the remaining spots of spagetti sauce on his face, Kyungsoo begins to notice the tiny bump Baekhyun has. "I swear, it feels like just yesterday when you were crying on the phone telling me that you were pregnant. Now look at you-"

"Fat and hormonal." Baekhyun responds and Kyungsoo laughs.

"You always say thats it's your hormones that keeps making you emotional. But Baek, I think you've always been a little bit crazy." Kyungsoo replies, taking another sip of his drink. Just as his lips touch the hot coffee, the inside of Kyungsoo's mouth begins to burn. "Too hot. And needs a little more spice."

Baekhyun jots down Kyungsoo's suggestion quickly onto his notebook. "Too... hot. Needs more spice. Okay anything else?"

Kyungsoo shakes his head. "Other than that, I think the drinks perfect."

"Good because I actually prefer that drink than the other one you tried before. It has more of a kick to it. The cinnamon and nutmeg gives the drink so much more definition. Don't you think?" Baekhyuns asks and Kyungsoo nods. Baekhyun watches as Kyungsoo carefully blows onto the cup of coffee before taking another sip. "So how's Jongin doing?"

This causes Kyungsoo to almost spit out his drink but it also causes his heart to beat faster than usual. "He's fine. I mean- I don't know. Why are you asking? I-I mean-"

"Woah." Baekhyun replies, as he lifts an eyebrow. "Calm down. I didn't mean to get you all worked up or anything. I was just asking . Why does it seem like there's something that your not telling me? Is there anything you'd like to confess?"

"Yeah, I think that the kimchi spagetti needs more kimchi."

Baekhyun writes this sudden information on his notebook, completely ignoring the fact that Kyungsoo ignored his question. Kyungsoo couldn't tell Baekhyun that he was only pretending to date Jongin because of Jongin's mother. Nor could Kyungsoo tell Baekhyun that his current feelings for Jongin were developing into something more than just pretend.

Kyungsoo takes a sigh of relief.

-

The following day, Kyungsoo does as he's supposed to and comes to the airport early just like how Jongin had instructed him to do so. He checks his luggages when he arrives and then proceeds to go through airport security. He checks his watch a couple of times and furrows his eyebrows when he sees that it was almost 7 in the morning and Jongin still wasn't there. He wanders around the airport, until he's finally able to spot Jongin a couple minutes later, looking very chic with his sunglasses and trench coat on.

"It's not even sunny, why do you have your sunglasses on?" Kyungsoo scoffs. He knew that although Jongin's sunglasses blocked the view of his eyes, Jongin was secretly rolling his eyes at Kyungsoo underneath them.

"It's called fashion, Mr. Do." Jongin states, pushing his sunglasses down to his nose to make eye contact with him. He pushes them back up when he finishes talking and begins to walk towards their gate. "Come on our flight leaves in 10 minutes we should probably go."

Kyungsoo walks beside Jongin with his carry on in his hands. His eyes spot a line begining to form near their gate and he gasps. "There's so much people here. That means that the lines going to be huge-"

Jongin smirks. "Good thing we don't have to wait in line then."

Kyungsoo looks at Jongin with a confused look on his face, but before he has a chance to speak, a voice interrupts them. "Mr. Kim it's a pleasure to see you again. And your guest is-"

"My secretary." Jongin responds and hands the employee his luggage. He then takes Kyungsoo's carry on from his hands and hands it to the employee. "Take these to first class in seats A-1 and A-2."

"I could've taken them to our seats." Kyungsoo mutters, as they make their way to their seats.

"They were heavy and your arms would've probably started to hurt." Jongin responds. When he finally finds his seat, he takes a seat and sighs in content. Kyungsoo takes the seat besides him and does the same.

"Besides it's their jobs to help us out."

-

"Woah." Kyungsoo gasps, in awe when he and Jongin finally arrive inside of their hotel room. The room was enoromous. Kyungsoo lays his luggages on one of the empty chairs and begins to wander around. He's amazed at how spacious the room was and how breath taking the view of the France looked through the window.

He walks into the bedroom and raises an eyebrow at Jongin. "There's only one bed?"

"I didn't reserve this room. The CEO of Xing Enterprises was generous enough to allow me to stay in this hotel during the trip to France and proabably thought that I was going to come alone. To be honest, you really didn't need to be here."

Kyungsoo furrows his eyebrows in confusion. "Then what am I doing here? Why did you invite me here anyways? If I''m not even needed?"

"To keep me company." Jongin explains. "Going alone would be boring and I figured why not bring you along so that I wouldnt get lonely. And besides I thought you would want to get a chance to experience what being in France feels like."

"Gee thanks. Thats so considerate." Kyungsoo rolls his eyes. "But then were am I going to sleep?"

"On the couch." Jongin replies and Kyungsoo grits his teeth. Jongin fakes a smile. "Unless you want to sleep with me on the bed. Besides its not like it's our first time sleeping together in the same bed-"

Kyungsoo begins to feel flustered and feels his cheeks burning. He then tries to calm himself down by slapping his cheeks and Jongin watches him in amusement. "Forget it. I'll sleep on the couch then."

Jongin smiles, as he watches Kyungsoo gather his belongings. "Okay. Only If you insist."

"Ugh." Kyungsoo groans, as he tries finding a comforrtable position for him to sleep in. But it's hopeless because sleeping on a couch is never comfortable. Ever.

"Stupid Jongin."

"Heard that." Jongin shouts from the bedroom. He gets out of bed and walks into the living room where Kyungsoo was still trying to find comfort. He leans against the door frame and watches his secretary get frustrated. Jongin smirks, causing Kyungsoo to throw a pillow at him. "Hey don't get mad at me. At least I offered you to sleep on the bed. It's not my fault you didn't want to."

"Shut up before I really do kill you."

"I'll ask you one more time, do you want to sleep on the warm and comfortable bed with me or do you want to continue to be stubborn and spend the night trying to find a comforable position of the couch when in reality there is none? The choice is pretty simple, Mr. Do."

" off."

"If you say so." Jongin shrugs and walks back into the bedroom. He plops himself on the bed and makes a loud sigh of relief. Loud enough for Kyungsoo to hear. "Ahh. It feels so nice in here. With these blankets and this soft matress-"

"I hate you."

Jongin smiles when he sees Kyungsoo appoaching the bed holding a pillow tightly in his arm. He lays down on the opposite side of the bed from Jongin and turns his back on him. He ignores the constant I told you so's from Jongin and opts to fall asleep instead.

Jongin was right. The matress was soft.

When Jongin wakes up the following morning, he finds his hands wrapped around Kyungsoo's waist and lips only a few centimeters away from Kyungsoo's. He tries his hardest not to wake the latter up, as he tries to get out of the bed. When he successfully gets out, he feels his heart beating faster and decides to get a drink of water to calm him down.

He quickly gulps down a glass of water and slaps himself with his hands. He shakes his head and then proceeds to get ready for the meeting held early in the morning today.

-

"Mr. Park someone in the name of Mr. Zhang Yi Xing would like to see you."

Chanyeol hears over the phone. He furrows his eyebrows and creases begin to form in confusion. He didn't understand why Lay was here at his work, but he was sure that his dad was up to something. He rolls his eyes at the thought and then proceeds to speak. He gives an okay sign to his secretary and then ends the call. Within a couple of minutes, Lay reaches his office with Chanyeol's secretary, who leaves after bowing politely to her boss.

Lay holds up the basket of fresh fruits that he was holding and hands them to Chanyeol. "These are for you. My parents didn't want me to come empty handed and I heard you loved fruits."

Chanyeol smiles and offers Lay a chair to sit on. He places the basket on his desk and turns his attention to the male sitting across from him. "Thank you for the fruits. So what brings you here? I wasn't expecting you-"

Lay awkwardly plays with his hair and Chanyeol sees Lay's cheeks turning a slight pink color. "I'm sorry if I came at a bad time but I haven't seen you in 2 weeks and we don't really communicate so I just wanted to check up on you. I also heard you've been pretty stressed out lately-"

"I'm sorry." Chanyeol replies. "It's just that I have a lot on my plate right now and I haven't had time-"

"No don't appologize. I know you've been busy and it's not your fault." Lay smiles and then remembers the reason he came to Chanyeol in the first place was to inform him something rather important. "Actually the reason why I'm here is because, our parents have already set our engagement party-"

Chanyeo furrows his eyebrows. "What? Engagement party? Since when were we ever-"

"Believe me, I tried to stop them." Lay explained looking very apologethic. "I explained how we were taking things slow but they insisted we rush the engagement. I'm sorry, Chanyeol. I really did try though."

"Don't worry, I'll think of something." Chanyeol reassures him and watches as Lay begins to frown. "Is there anything wrong? Did I say something?"

"Why don't you want to get married to me? In all honesty, I've grown quite fond of you-"

"I know." Chanyeol responds, after taking a deep exsaperated sigh. "But I can't return your feelings. I'm sorry but I think that you should know that I'm with someone. Someone that I love. I just can't break this off with him. I just can't. You deserve someone so much better than me. So please, please don't let your feelings for me grow anymore."

Lay nods. He understands where Chanyeol was coming from, but it was impossible for Lay's feelings to stop so suddenly. "Chanyeol, I don't want you and your significant lover to break up. But, if you continue to see him, I think things will become more difficult for both of you. Whether you like it or not, we're technically engaged unless we figure out a way to end this engagement."

"I'll find a way." Chanyeol responds, confidently. "You have to understand Lay but I just cant-"

Lay smiles. "I know. You can't leave him. And I'll be hoping that you find a way out of this. But in the mean time, why don't we get to know each other. As in go on a date with me. A real date. Just the two of us."

Chanyeol raises his eyebrows. "But I just said-"

"I know what you said." Lay responds. "But even if we get married or not, I at least want to experiance a real date with you. I want to see what it feels like to go on a date with someone I like. Please, it's only one date."

"I've never been on a real date before." Lay continues, causing Chanyeol to feel sympathetic towards the latter. "So please? It's not like your boyfriend will know or anything. Tell you what i'll even plan the date and all you have to do is be there-"

"Fine."

-

"The meeting was a success." Jongin states, as he opens the door of the hotel room. Because the buisness meeting had started early in the morning, Jongin had left Kyungsoo in the hotel room for him to be able to get a couple more hours of sleep. However, it was now almost 11 in the morning and was suprised to find his secretary still fast asleep on the bed.

He approaches the latter and sits down besides the bed, eyes never leaving Kyungsoo. Jongin watches as Kyungsoo starts to stir in his sleep and begins to slowly open his eyes. He eyes Jongin wierdly and raises his eyebrows. "Jongin, what are you doing?"

Jongin clears his troat and stands up from the bed in embarassment. "It-It's almost 12 so get up."

"What about your meeting?" Kyungsoo asks, as he rubs his eyes in order to wake himself up and Jongin smiles unknowingly. Kyungsoo looked like a baby. A cute little baby that had just gotten up after a long nap. Kyungsoo sits up and stretches his arms. "What time is your meeting today?"

"It ended a couple of minutes ago actually."

"Oh."

"Yeah. I tried to wake you but you didnt seem to bulge so I left." Jongin lies and watches how Kyungsoo's face palms his self. He tries not to laugh and waits for Kyungsoo to speak.

"Sorry. I guess I was just to tired from last night." Kyungsoo replies.

"Yeah it seemed like it." Jongin responds. "You missed out though because today they showed us these amazing houses that were built in the late 1700's. They're planning to recreate them and asked a bunch realtors and architects for help on ideas that could help make those houses into landmarks. They were also showing us new buildings that they were creating and hoping to sell as investments to foreigners-"

"That's great." Kyungsoo smiles.

Despite the fact that Jongin was the CEO of Kim ReaItor Services, it still amazed Kyungsoo how passionate Jongin was over selling houses and architecture in general. He always thought that Jongin was just like other wealthy, young CEO's that only focused on money rather than their actual jobs. It seemed like Kyungsoo continues to learn something new about his boss each and every day.

"It's our last day so why don't we go sightseeing?" Jongin suggests.

-

Chanyeol returns home an hour later after his conversation with Lay. The latter leaves on a happy note and tells Chanyeol that he'll text him the about details somewhere around this week. But no matter how much Chanyeol tries to convince himself that this was only a one time thing, he couldn't help but feel guilty. He was in a relationship with Baekhyun and here he was going on a date with another man. Everything about the date felt wrong to him even though the date hasn't even started yet.

When Chanyeol unlocks the front door, he removes his shoes and places them on the rack. He's suprised to find the house empty and quiet because normally Baekhyun would be in the living room watching dramas late at night, waiting for Chanyeol to return home. But then he remembers that it was approaching midnight and Baekhyun had probably already went to bed. But then he notices his boyfriend tucked under a thin blanket, sleeping on the couch. He carefully makes his way towards Baekhyun, hoping not to wake him and attempts to carry him to their bed.

When Chanyeol lifts Baekhyun from the couch and into his arms, the sudden movement causes Baekhyun to gradually open his eyes, as he yawns. "Chanyeol."

Chanyeol looks down and smiles when he watches Baekhyun rub his eyes to wake himself up. "You know you've gotten pretty heavy considering the fact that your only a couple of months into your preganacy, Baek."

Baekhyun frowns and hits Chanyeol's arm. "I waited for you to come home and your already telling me mean things. It's because of your child, you idiot. I'm not going to wait up for you anymore-"

"I was just kidding. I like it when you wait up for me but you really should try not to sleep on the couch anymore, Baek. You might hurt your back even more. You know what the doctor said." Chanyeol says. "I know your okay right now, but when your stomach starts to grow even larger and the baby starts to weigh more, your backs going to hurt like hell-"

"Yeah. Yeah I get it. I won't sleep on the couch anymore." Baekhyun responds.

"Promise?"

Baekhyun nods and when they finally reach their bedroom, Chanyeol lays Baekhyun down on his side of the bed and places a gentle kiss on his forehead. He covers Baekhyun's body with the blanket and after saying their goodnights to one another, Chanyeol goes into the bathroom to take a shower. As usual he begins to think of how cute their baby's going to become and what traits the baby's going to inherit. Then he remembers his engagement with Lay and realizes that his life was a mess.

A mess that he needed to fix quickly before the baby arrives.

-

Jongin and Kyungsoo spend the rest of their day sightseeing and taking pictures together near famous landmarks. Thruthfully, Kyungsoo never thought he would be able to see France nor did he think that he would actually be able to see the Eiffel Tower up close. Even though they only had a couple of hours left until they had to board the plane and go home. Kyungsoo was still thankful that he had a chance to experience what it felt like to be in France.

Maybe being Jongin's secretary did have perks.

"You could see the Eiffel Tower from here." Kyungsoo says, as he looks out of his window. They were now inside the plane waiting for it to lift off. Jongin hmms in response, not showing any sort of interest to what Kyungsoo was talking about and instead continues to flip through pages of magazines.

"Thanks for bring me."

Jongin puts the magazine to his side and raises an eyebrow at Kyungsoo. "I thought you said that you hated me for bringing you along-"

"That was before we went sightseeing." Kyungsoo responds. "When I get married, I want to have my honeymoon in Paris. It's so romantic and beautiful. Don't you think-"

Jongin rolls his eyes. "You have to find someone willing to put up with you first."

Kyungsoo furrows his eyebrows  but before Kyungsoo could respond, a voice through the intercom instructs the passangers to put their seat belts on before lift off. "We will be lifting off in 3 minutes. The pilot has instructed everyone to please return to their seats and fasten their seat belts before lift off."

A couple of hours later after lift off, Jongin sees a sleeping Kyungsoo begining to lean towards his shoulder. Jongin was about to push him off and lay Kyungsoo's head towards the window when he realizes that Kyungsoo's neck might get hurt when he wakes up. So instead he decides to lay Kyungsoo's head carefully onto his shoulders and sighs.

"Great so now I have to keep him on my shoulder for the rest of the flight." Jongin mutters. "There's still 3 hours left until we land. Great thinking Jongin. Really just great."

When did he learn to be so considerate?
