I Couldn't Stay Away

Kyungsoo returns to work the following day and expects to return to a clean and organized office. But he was wrong. Completely and utterly wrong. The office was a mess. On his desk were 10 large pizza boxes with flies flying around it in circular motions and 3 bottles of empty soda. When he walks into Jongin's office, however, he furrows his eyebrows when he sees that the room is clean. What the happened? How could his desk look like crap, while Jongin's office was spotless?

"Oh, you're here." Jongin scoffs and walks past him to get into his office. He puts his belongings his desk and takes a seat. "What are you doing in my office? Get back to work."

"I've been gone for a day and my desk is a complete mess!" Kyungsoo shouts. "Did you have a party or something? What the happened while I was gone?"

Jongin folds his arms on the desk. "Well I got hungry so I ordered pizza. It was so good that I decided to buy 10 boxes to share with the employees. I'm such a good CEO-"

Kyungsoo couldn't believe what he was hearing. "And you didn't bother to clean it up? Its a mess in there."

"It's not my territory, so why would I?" Jongin smiles. "It's your desk so it's technically your problem. Clean it before the flies come into my room, okay?"

Kyungsoo wants to shout and scream. He wants to pull on Jongin's hair and stab him so many times until he was dead. He didn't care if he went to jail, he just wanted to kill Kim Jongin. However, as the mature adult he was, he nods his head and breathes heavily before exiting Jongin's office.

" you." Kyungsoo mutters under his breath.

Jongin smiles, innocently. He just loves messing with Kyungsoo. The way that Kyungsoo gets so upset and tries to act calm in front of Jongin, ammuses Jongin so much. "What was that Mr. Do?"

"I said, sure." Kyungsoo smiles back and in his head he pictures himself slapping Jongin's face multiple times and Jongin falling on the floor begging Kyungsoo to stop.

"Its good to have you back Mr. Do. I certainly missed you yesterday."

-

"That bastard." Kyungsoo mutters under his breath, as he begins to clean up his work space. He grabs on to one of the empty soda bottles and crumbles it up into his hands before throwing it in the trash. He furrows his eyebrows, furiously as he continues to clean and this time grabs the empty pizza boxes and places them next to the trash. Since it was already full.

"Did you have a party while I was gone?" Kyungsoo heard a voice say. When he turns around, he sees Suho smiling and waving at him.

"Hi." Kyungsoo greets and smiles back. He knows he promised Jongin to stay away from his cousin, but how could he? He couldn't just keep avoiding Suho like he was the plague. Besides Kyungsoo liked spending time with him. "How was you trip to Singapore?"

"It was great! Do you want me to help you with that?" Suho offers, when he sees Kyungsoo struggling with putting the rest of the pizza boxes into the trash.

Kyungsoo shakes his head. "No thank you. I'm fine."

"Okay." Suho replies, taking a seat on the couch.

"So what brings you here?" Kyungsoo asks, this time grabbing a sweeper and dusk pan to clean his desk. He wanted everything to be spotless. He was a perfectionist and it would irrate him to work on a dirty surface. Just thinking about it made him shiver. "Did you want to talk to Jongin? Right now he's-"

"I actually wanted to talk to you-" Suho replies, causing Kyungsoo to blink innocently. Because why did Suho want to talk to him? Was he going to get scolded?

"Why? Did I do something wrong-"

Suho laughs. Because Kyugsoo is so innocent. "No. You didn't do anything wrong. Actually, you've been avoiding me the past few weeks and I wanted to ask if you if I did anything wrong. Do you not like hanging out with me?"

Kyungsoo shakes his head, repeatedly. "No thats not it. I've just been really busy because of Jongin. He's been pretty busy lately. I'm really sorry if it looks like dont like your company. I really like hanging out with you-"

"If your really sorry, you would let me take you out for dinner someday." Suho smiles and laughs when he sees Kyungsoo's confused look on his face. Was he asking him out on a date? "I really liked hanging out with you and I find you very intriging. So how about next friday?"

"Actually I-"

"Great see you then. Il pick you up after work." Suho replies, quickly. And before Kyungsoo could reply, Suho tells him he has to go and waves him goodbye. Leaving Kyungsoo speechless. Because he has a date with Suho next friday. Suho actually asked him out to dinner. And without realizing it, Kyungsoo grins in his desk, still not beliving what had happened. He probably looks retarded right now, but he doesnt care. He feels like he's on cloud 9 and nothing could ruin it.

That is until Jongin skips happily into the room and stacks a pile of documents on Kyungsoo's desk.

-

Baekhyun checks his watch, for the millionth time and sighs, as he sits anxiously in an empty table waiting for Chanyeol, who promised to take him out to lunch today. It's not that Baekhyun was excited to go on a date with Chanyeol, in fact he even rejected Chanyeol's offer but after costant begging and fake cries about how Baekhyun didn't love him, Baekhyun finally agreed. The two had promised to meet at 11 AM at the cafe, however it was now 2 PM and Chanyeol was still nowehere in sight.

"Baek!" Chanyeol smiles happily, as he approaches the table Baekhyun's seated at. "I missed you-"

When Chanyeol attempts to plant a kiss on Baekhyun's lips, Baekhyun pushes him away and scoffs. "I waited for you for more than 3 hours. You said you'd be here by 11. If you were busy you should've canceled, then I wouldn't have to wait for you and look like a retard, sitting by myself."

"Okay. Okay. Sorry. I was just really busy. With work and all." Chanyeol replies, fixing his hair uncomfortably. He feels awkward getting scolded by Baekhyun and he doesnt know what to do, except fix his hair. A habit that he developed during his childhood. "But I'm here now! Let's go have lunch and I'll make it up to you. What do you want to eat? Italian food? Korean? Chinese-"

"McDonalds." Baekhyun replies, causing Chanyeol to raise an eyebrow and eye the latter, wierdly. He planned on taking Baekhyun to a fancy resteraunt, he never expected Baekhyun to want to go to a fast food resteraunt on their first and official date. Besides, he's never been to McDonald's.

"I thought-"

"If you don't want to then forget it." Baekhyun sighs. "I just wanted to get something really fast to eat. I dont feel like waiting for a long time at a restauraunt. But if you don't want to go-"

Guilt fills Chanyeol's stomach. He feels horrible for having Baekhyun wait for him for more than 3 hours without food. Plus, Baekhyun was pregnant and shouldn't have to be skipping meals. Because it's probably bad for the baby. "No it's fine, we should go. You're probably starving right now."

Baekhyun nods his head.

Chanyeol laughs and pinches Baekhyun's cheeks, causing Baekhyun to whine about how uncomfortable it was and that if he doesnt let go, Baekhyun would cut his balls off. Chanyeol lets go of Baekhyun's cheeks immediately.

-

"Can I have a 2 double cheeseburger, a large order of fries, 20 piece Mcnuggets, and a large Coke." Baekhyun smiles polietly at the cashier and points out all the things he wants to eat to Chanyeol. "Do you want anything?"

"Do you have a steak here?" Chanyeol asks, curiously and the cashier laughs. Because where did Chanyeol think he was? At a 5 star resteraunt? "Just give me a cup of coffee."

After finally ordering their food, Chanyeol carried the tray, as Baekhyun looked for an empty table for them to sit. As they sat down, Chanyeol placed the tray on the table and noticed alot of people staring at the two. Chanyeol had to admit, he felt pretty awkward and uncomfortable. He had never been to a fast food resteraunt before, his parents never took him to one and never experienced it growing up.

"They're probably staring at you because your wearing a suit at a fast food joint." Baekhyun comments, as he stuffs the cheesebuger in his mouth. Chanyeol ignores him and takes a sip of his coffee. It's different. It's sugary and doesnt even taste like coffee anymore. It just taste like chocolate milk with a lot of sugar added to it.

Baekhyun unwraps the other cheeseburger and hands it to Chanyeol. "Eat this. It might not be a gourme piece of steak but you probably didn't eat at the office and you must be starving."

Chanyeol takes the cheeseburger and takes a bite of it. Honestly, he finds it to be both digusting and pleasing. He takes another bite and smiles when Baekhyun looks up at him with fries stuck in his mouth. So cute. "Thanks."

-

"Are you sure you dont want me to drop you off?" Chanyeol asks, with a worried look on his face. He offered Baekhyun a ride home, but Baekhyun rejected the offer. And he feels wierd leaving his pregnant boyfriend by himeself. "I really dont mind-"

"Its fine." Baekhyun replies. "Its not that dark yet and besides the cafe's only a 10 minute walk. I need to do a couple of things before I go home. And besides you should go home and rest."

"I dont feel comfortable leaving you by yourself though." Chanyeol replied. "What if someone kidnaps you or what if you get lost-"

"I'm not going to get lost." Baekhyun snorts. "I've been living in this neighborhood for a while now so I pretty much know where i'm going. Don't worry about it, I'll be fine."

"Okay, just text me when you get home." Chanyeol sighs, still hesistant about whether he should just take Baekhyun home or not. But when Baekhyun smiles and gives him a peck on his cheeks, Chanyeol smiles. After saying their goodbyes, Chanyeol watches as Baekhyun walks away. When he sees Baekhyun already crossing the pedestrian, Chanyeol makes his way into his car when he suddenly recieves a text message.

To: Chanyeol

Take Lay to the Xing Enterprise 's annual ball tomorrow.

From:  Dad

-

Kyungsoo hated parties. He hated having to socialize with others and entertain them. He hated pretending to act like he was enjoying himself when the host ask if he was. And right now, here he was at the annual Xing Enterprises ball with Jongin, who had barged into his apartment on Saturday to inform him about it. Since, Jongin was out socializing with the other guests and talking about becoming possible buisness partners, Kyungsoo opted to just sit down. Because the idea of having to socialize was a very bad idea in Kyungsoo's eye's. He sighs before taking another sip of the cocktail he was drinking.

"Another glass?" The bartista asks, when he sees that Kyungsoo's glass is empty. Kyungsoo nods and hands the bartista his glass. He hasn't even kept track of how many drinks he has ordered so far because honestly he doesn't care. Besides it's not like he was going to do anything besides drink a couple of alcohol. It's not like he was going to approach someone and start a conversation. He doesn't know anyone here, except Jongin. And Kyungsoo doesn't even like him.

"Here you go." The bartista smiles and hands Kyungsoo back his drink.

When he finally gulps down the drink, he stands up and begins to feel a little tipsy. He stumbles alittle and holds on to a chair to keep his balance. The bartender stares at him worriedly but before he could offer Kyungsoo some help, Kyungsoo makes his way into the hallway. He hums and sings to himself, as he passes a crowd of people and makes a turn on his right. He opens a doorknob, thinking it would be the restroom and steps inside only to be greeted by an anxious looking girl with an earpiece in her right ear.

"Where have you been?" She growls, but when Kyungsoo opens his mouth she shuts him off and places a button on his blazer. "Your up next. Don't forget to smile!"

With that the lady pushes Kyungsoo towards the curtain and before he knows it, Kyungsoo finds himself on stage with all eyes on him. Well this was awkward. Very very awkward. Kyungsoo doesnt even take note of what the other male to his left was saying and concludes that the latter was the MC for the night. All he could think about was getting out of this mess. He hated how people were looking at him. He nevered liked being the center of attention.

"The bidding starts at a thousand dollars."

This causing Kyungsoo to widen his eyes. Bidding? He was being auctioned off to random people, who he didnt even know? How the hell thought of something so degrading as to auction of a human being? Kyungsoo rolled his eyes as he watched hands begin to rise. In a matter of seconds a thousand turned into twenty-five thousand.

"50,000." A bald-headed male rised his hand and winked to Kyungsoo's direction. Kyungsoo wanted to barf. Anyone but him.

"100,000."

"250,000." The bald-headed man countered back.

The MC waited for another offer and after a couple more seconds, he grabbed the gravel. "250,000 going once, going twice-"

"500,000."

Five hundred thousand dollars was a lot of money. Kyungsoo turned to the bidder and gasped when he saw Jongin crossing his arms with his checkbook in his hands. The blad-headed male rolled his eyes and took his seat, upon hearing Jongin's offer. He couldnt compete with him. He didnt have that much money. Kyungsoo took a sigh of relief.

"Sold!"

-

"What were you thinking?" Jongin growls, as he drags Kyungsoo into an empty room so that the two could talk privately. "I told you specifically to just sit down and what do you do? You disobey me and try to bid yourself off in an auction-"

"It was an accident." Kyungsoo interrupts, looking down. He still feels a little dizzy because of the alcohol and he doesnt feel so good right now. "Besides I was sitting, but I had to use the restroom-"

"Why didnt you ask anyone for directions? Thats the most reasonable thing to do. I cant believe-"

Kyungsoo feels his sick. He wants to throw up. Maybe drinking all those drinks were a bad idea. A really bad idea. "Jongin I-"

"No you listen to me. I'm your boss. You shouldn't disobey me like that. What if that another person won you at the auction? What would you do then-"

Before Jongin could finish his sentence, Kyungsoo vomits on his suit. This causes Jongin to be very upset. Because what the ? Did Kyungsoo just throw up on him? But before Jongin could scold Kyungsoo, he watches as the latter breathes heavily and Jongin notices Kyungsoo's pale skin. Kyungsoo's always been pale, but has never been this pale before.

"Are you okay?" Jongin questions, worriedly. He feels Kyungsoo's forehead to check if he had a fever and watches as Kyungsoo shivers against his touch. Jongin concludes that Kyungsoo's body temperature seems fine but the look on Kyungsoo's face makes Jongin worried.

Kyungsoo shakes his head. "I feel sick."

"Do you want me to drive you to the hospital-"

"No."

"But Kyungsoo, you look horrible. Besides there's a hospital around here-"

"No. Just take me home. Please." Kyungsoo begs. And Jongin swore that he saw a hint of despair hiden in Kyungsoo's eyes. Was Kyungsoo afraid of the doctors? Jongin wanted to argue about how going to the hospital could possibly determine Kyungsoo's illness. But he didnt want to get into another arguement with Kyungsoo and instead Jongin just sighed.

"Okay."

-

"Wow!" Lay praised, as he entered the ballroom, side by side with Chanyeol. Everything seemed so grand to him. The lighting, the table arrangements, the elegant dresses and suits that the guests were wearing, and the servers who were passing out different types of drinks. "I've never been to a party this big before."

Chanyeol raised an eyebrow and took a drink from the servers tray. He then handed it to Lay. "You never had parties in China?"

"We've had parties." Lay clarified and took the drink that Chanyeol offered. He took a sip, before continuing his sentence. "The parties we generally hosted are small gatherings for the family or something. We never host large parties. Dad, thinks its a waste of money to be throwing parties. He's always been a cheap spender."

Chanyeol smirked. "Well it certainy paid off. I mean now he's one of the richest people in China. He's certainly developed a name for himself-"

"Chanyeol!" A voice interrupted.

Chanyeol turned and smiled when he saw Suho standing in front of him. It's been more than 2 years since they last saw each other and had a lot of things to discuss. After enveloping each other with a warm hug, Suho patted back. Because Suho was older, Chanyeol considered Suho as an older brother, who he could depend on. In fact, when the two were still in highschool, whenever Chanyeol and Jongin got into a fight with another student, Suho would bandage their wounds and then ultimately expell the students they fought against.

When he noticed that Chanyeol had a guest with him, Suho smiled. From the looks of it, the guy seemed to be very quiet and handsome. Suho extended his hands to shake hands with the latter. "I'm Suho. And you are?"

"I'm Lay." Lay replied, taking Suho's hand and shaking it.

"Where's Jongin?" Chanyeol asked, looking around the ballroom. "He said he was coming today with Kyungsoo."

"He left early." Suho explained. "He said something about Kyungsoo being sick or something. I hope he's feeling okay, he didnt look too good when they left. By the way, your dad was looking for you."

Chanyeol rolled his eyes. He's been trying to avoid his dad for the past week and he knew that he had to face him someday. He turned to Lay and smiled. "Do you mind staying with Suho for a while? I think I should probably talk to my dad. I'll be back soon."

Lay nodded. He watched as Chanyeol excused himself and then turned his attention to Suho. Well this was awkward. "So."

"So." Suho repeated. He smiled when he saw Lay's flustered face. "I'm sorry if I'm making you feel uncomfortable."

Lay shook his head. "No. I'm just a really shy and awkward person. You're not making me feel uncomfortable. In fact, I should be apologizing to you. For making you stay with me while Chanyeol's gone. If you want to leave, I'll understand."

"No it's fine." Suho smiled. "From the looks of it, you seem to be Chanyeol's boyfriend and it wouldnt be a very polite thing to do to leave you here by yourself. Chanyeol would kill me if I did."

Lay smiled. "Thanks."
