Love in the Milky Way Cafe

Description

I have always wondered how being a celebrity feels like --- how to be in their shoes, how they breathe, walk, talk, behave in their public and private lives, how they deal with other people. How due to their hectic lifestyle under the limelight,  they turn to "idols" with people expecting them to be god-like, invincible, incapable of pain, love and all other human emotions as hateful comments, ill remarks and high expectations are thrown to their faces 24/7 as if they are made up of titanium instead of flesh and bone.

Also, I have always wondered how our esteemed K-idols deal with the matters of the heart; how they fall in love, which for me, is the most basic and natural human thing to do. I believe that love and the human capacity to fall in love unifies all human beings regardless of race, language, socio-economic status, religion, etc.

Love. One of the things that binds all human beings.

I'd like to take a different approach to this story in the same manner that I have tried my best to portray EXO-K's Suho a.k.a. Kim Junmyeon not just as an "idol" but, first and foremost, as a human being.

As a friend, as a lover, as a son, as a trainee.

Yes, this is the prologue to his crazy love story with Ivory, his wife in A Day in the Life of the Kims.

I have been hinting a lot of this during Kim Junmyeon's flashbacks in that fic because this was supposed to go first instead of that. Blame it on the flirtatious picture of Kim Junmyeon sitting on a bathtub like a boss.

Hopefully you will have a clearer perspective on how they met, fell in love, etc. with this epic throwback story. Hahahaha

This was set in their late teens, during Kim Junmyeon's third year being a SM trainee from 2008-2009.

SPOILER:

1. This is fluff-slash-rom-com-slash-melodrama. No M chapters because I'm gonna puke rainbows, confettis, pink elephants and teddy bears this time.
2. The Kim Junmyeon you'll find here may not be the Kim Junmyeon you're familiar with. Come on, he can't be too kind, right? Every one of us has at least one mischievous evil bone in his/her body, I believe. Hahaha
3. You won't be seeing Baekhyun, Jongdae, and Kyungsoo here because they were cast in SM later according to the profile I found on the Internet. Only Jongin, Chanyeol, Sehun, Yifan and Luhan have confirmed cameo appearances. I still have to verify if Zitao, Minseok and Yixing have been present during the time-frame of this fiction. I'm so sorry for being so OC. It's just that I want to make this as realistic as possible. After all, fiction is still grounded on reality. Hahahahahaha (Shet I am so serious I want to puke.)
4. THIS IS THE CRAZIEST THING I'VE EVER CONCEIVED IN MY HEAD so expect crazy in crazy proportions. Hahahahahahahaha
5. Prepare tissues for laughing and crying purposes. Yes, this is going to be one emotional joyride for the two of them and for all of us. The funny thing with fiction is that characters have their way of living their lives which, more often than not, totally contradicts from the writer's initial plans. Hahahaha I can't even promise that they will have a happy ending. I'll just leave them alone making their own decisions and let's see what happens. After all, though they are fictional, they are still human beings. Hahaha
6. This is a coffee overload story. And Waray language overload too. I am promoting my langauage here so, the hell. As usual, I'll try to provide translations to minimize your headaches. Haha

PS:

To those who personally know me, like legit "know" me, because they are my friends and former students, if you've come across this fic, please leave everything here: comments, fangiriling squeals, etc. The Aivee-teacher and the Ivory-fictional-character here are two different people.

She is my alter ego, the ME I could have been if this story actually took place in reality. But since this is pure fiction, this Ivory here only exists in all of our heads. Maybe if you will let me marry Kim Junmyeon then she will fully materialize. (Hahahahahaha Porbida. Push pa! Nyahahaha)

So don't fangirl at me on public or I will die from embarassment.

YOLO to the ends of the Universe.
Please take care of me.

Foreword

Somewhere in between the autumn of 2008 and summer of 2009, Ivory left the Philippines and landed in Seoul, South Korea for a literature major student exchange program annually granted by Yonsei University as its means of establishing camaraderie among its neighboring Asian countries.

Barely two weeks in a foreign country away from home and in her job as a part-time crew at the Milky Way Cafe owned by Mr. Park, her kind foster father for her entire stay in Korea, Ivory's calm, ordinary exchange student life made an unexpected sommersault when one windy day of September Kim Junmyeon, idol in-training from SM Entertainment, entered their cafe bringing with him the maple leaves and cool breeze of autumn by their glass door.

It all started with a latte.

Mistaken identities.

Bruce Lee killer moves.

A 'stolen' cellphone.

And an epic friendship of two dreamers from two different worlds.

-------------

"You seriously believe in soulmates? Are you on crack?" she asked with a hint of disbelief and amusement.

"I believe in angels, miracles, heaven, magic, soulmates, serendipity and all other impossible things when I'm with you," he dreamily replied as they sat on a bench one afternoon, his head lying gently on her lap as she scanned the pages of Gabriel Garcia Marquez' Love in the Time of Cholera.

She put the book aside and smiled at him, blushing along the way because he was in his element again, throwing random cheesy lines out of the blue to send goosebumps all over her body for the nth time.

She stared at him while softly caressing his cheek with her thumb.

"We make our own destiny, Jun-jun."

"Then in that case, I'm happy I made my destiny like this. With you."

"Me too."

And she covered his face with her book afterwards to stop him from seeing her cheeks red from blushing out of embarassment, which he removed instantly, chuckling at her childishness.

"I love you too, baby," he said, brushing his cheek on her stomach, inching closer to her.

"Shut up. I didn't say any I love yous, wakwak," she replied, pinching his nose.

"You don't have to say it. I know."
