Words were such powerful things. It amazed Leo to think about the powerful messages a few simple words could convey. Words could start wars or save lives. They could inspire massive rebellions or calm an entire nation.

Then there were the three words he wanted to tell Sanghyuk. Those three words could end the friendship between the human and cat boy, or they could start a whole new relationship between them. At least, they could do those things if he said them.

That was the thing about words, they only had power if people could hear or read them. If they stayed up in a person’s head, locked up and hidden from everyone, they couldn’t do anything. The world would just move on without them and whatever good those word could do would never be done.

As scared as Leo was of being rejected, he was even more scared that not saying those three words would result in something much worse than rejection.

“Sanghyuk,” he called, slowly stepping inside his owner’s room, “can I talk to you?”

“Sure,” Sanghyuk nodded, taking note of how Leo was hugging his tail similar to how a young child would hug their teddy or blanket for comfort when scared or worried, “come sit.” He patted the spot beside him on the bed.

“I, um,” Leo cleared his throat before taking a seat where Sanghyuk had instructed him to sit, “I…..I love you.”

Sanghyuk froze before slowly turning to face Leo. The cat boy looked down at his hands as they played with his tail, clearly distressed that he had messed up things between himself and Sanghyuk. The human honestly didn’t know what to say to Leo’s confession. He was only just starting to come to the realization that he cared for the cat boy more than just ‘owner and pet.’ Voicing those feelings? Now that proved to be rather difficult for Sanghyuk.

So, instead of using words, Sanghyuk used actions.

Slowly, he leaned over. Gently, he tilted Leo’s head up before capturing the cat boy’s lips in a soft kiss.
