Leo stared at his reflection in the mirror. He looked more like himself then he had in ages. However, he still wasn’t completely back to his old self. Seven years of hard work had managed to undo most of the damage done by those blasted scientist, but there was still pain that remained. That damage he knew could only be fixed by having Sanghyuk back by his side.

Too bad Sanghyuk wasn’t by his side. Sanghyuk had left, unable to deal with Leo as he had been seven years ago. As much as it pained him to admit it, Leo knew that his lover had made the right choice for both himself and their child. He could still remember all the times he’d tried to kill his lover and the one time he tried to take the life of his child, his precious Sooyoung.

“Leo,” N called, pulling Leo from his thoughts and reflection, “are you coming?”

“No,” Leo hung his head slightly, “it would be better that I didn’t join you in searching for Hyuk. If he saw me, he might run. He….he doesn’t know that I’m well again.”

“Alright,” N nodded before leaving.

Four months prior, N had decided along with Ken and Hongbin that it would be safe for Hyuk and Sooyoung to return. All that needed to be done was find them. Ravi had tried to stay in contact, but eventually they had lost touch thanks to trying to stay off the radar of the scientists who desperately wanted to capture them for the third time. Now it was anyone’s guess where Ravi, Hyuk, and Sooyoung were.

That knowledge honestly made Leo feel terrified. He greatly feared never getting to see his mate and child again. That his baby girl would never know him. That his mate’s last memories of him would be of what he had done thanks to his insanity. He feared that Ravi had failed to protect them and that Hyuk and Sooyoung were rotting away in one of those accursed cells while the scientist ran tests on them.

Maybe most of all, Leo feared that Hyuk had moved on and that his heart no longer belonged to Leo. What would he do if he found Hyuk only to discover that the love of his existence had moved on to another and no longer wanted him? That……Leo knew that would kill him.

Leo caught sight of his reflection in the mirror once more. He almost looked like his old self again, but the image was tainted by the things he had done. He looked at his reflection and remembered the things he had done to Hyuk, the attempts to kill his lover, the attempts to break his body and soul.

Leo punched the glass, shattering the mirror.
