“Dang it,” Sanghyuk sighed, dropping his head and wincing when it hit the table.
“What’s wrong?” his friend Hongbin asked, looking concerned.
“I’ve been assigned to tutor someone,” Sanghyuk sighed, looking up at the Ravenclaw.
“So?” their friend Wonsik, another Ravenclaw, asked, “didn’t you sign up to tutor someone.
“Clearly,” Hakyeon, their friend from Hufflepuff, huffed, “he got assigned someone he doesn’t like.” He turned to Sanghyuk, flashing the young Gryffindor a sympathetic smile, “I’m right, right?”
“Yeah,” Sanghyuk returned the smile with one of his own. Was it just him, or did Hakyeon blush?
“So who did you get?” Hongbin asked, drawing Sanghyuk’s attention before he could think too deeply about that blush thing.
Before Sanghyuk could say anything, someone crashed into him. Sanghyuk yelped in pain as his body made contact with the table, his friends all jumping to their feet in surprise.
“Sorry,” the thing that had crashed into the teen apologized, “I’m so sorry. I tripped and, well, I couldn’t stop my fall and....I fell. Into you. And--.”
“Jaehwan,” another voice, this one much softer, spoke up, pulling the weight off of Sanghyuk, “they get that it was an accident.”
“R-right,” Jaehwan nodded, hanging his head in shame and embarrassment.
“Taekwoon,” Hongbin greeted the owner of the second voice, voice sharp as he glared at the Slytherin.
“What are you doing here?” Hakyeon added, voice just as sharp and cold as Hongbin’s had been.
Sanghyuk rolled his eyes at his friends. Even though he’d forgiven Taekwoon for dumping him over his muggle roots, the three young wizards he called his friends sure hadn’t. They just couldn’t seem to get over the fact that Taekwoon had broken things off with Sanghyuk simply because his parents disapproved. Sanghyuk understood though and held no ill will to the pure-blood before him. In both of their minds, the breakup was mutual.
That didn’t mean, however, that they were anything close to friends which made Taekwoon’s arrival more than a little odd.
“Jaehwan is being tutored by Sanghyuk,” Taekwoon told the three glaring wizards, “I said I would introduce him because he was nervous.”
All eyes fell to Jaehwan who smiled brightly at them, his nervousness clear in his eyes and twitching fingers.
All four had heard about Jaehwan in passing. He was the boy who didn’t fit in at all with his house. Jaehwan was bright, always smiling, and didn’t have a mean bone in his body. Yet he’d been placed in Slytherin. The house that only produced bad wizards and witches.
Needless to say, no one understood that one, not even the teachers and headmaster. But that was what the sorting hat said so they all went with it.
“So you’re the slytherin I’m going to tutor, huh?” Sanghyuk said, looking Jaehwan over and deciding that the other didn’t look like he’d be a problem, “when do you want to meet up for our first session?”
Hakyeon watched as Jaehwan and Sanghyuk worked out the details, a feeling of unease bubbling up inside of him. He didn’t think Jaehwan would do anything bad to Sanghyuk – he hadn’t shown any evil traits in all his years at the school, so why start now – yet the feeling wasn’t going away.
That was when he noticed the super faint blush on Jaehwan’s cheeks whenever Sanghyuk smiled even slightly at him.
Jaehwan had a crush on Sanghyuk. On his Sanghyuk. Hakyeon scowled darkly at the Slytherin, wishing he’d just go away already and leave Sanghyuk alone.
Wonsik and Hongbin had also noticed the blush on Jaehwan’s face and were instantly worried. Even more so when the noticed Hakyeon’s reaction. The pair shared a look, wondering how Sanghyuk would fair if things turned into a war for his affections.
A/N: gosh, I kind of wish I hadn’t done a Harry Potter au ‘cuz they’re pretty common. But it was fun, so not too upset by it.
