Sanghyuk looked down at the little black cat sitting in the ratty cardboard box. The poor thing’s fur was matted and it looked as if it hadn’t eaten in quite some time. The young man knew that leaving it there was a cruel, heartless thing to do. Thus, he picked the cat up and headed home, silently hoping that his roommate didn’t freak out.
He was sort of right about Hakyeon freaking out.
“So cute!!!!” Hakyeon squealed, cuddling the cat much to the feline’s dislike.
“Hyung,” Sanghyuk sighed, getting a bowl of milk ready, “put him down before he scratches you. He looks pissed.”
“Nonsense,” Hakyeon started to say before he let out a yelp. He dropped the cat in favor of holding his bleeding hand.
“I told you,” Sanghyuk shrugged, putting the bowl on the ground for the feline before turning to leave, “I’ve got a paper to finish for tomorrow, so have fun at work, hyung.”
“Hyukkie,” Hakyeon whined dramatically, “you’re so mean.”
Sanghyuk rolled his eyes and walked away, ignoring Hakyeon’s complaints. The cat watched Hyuk walk away before turning its attention to Hakyeon. The older human sighed before gathering his things and leaving, muttering about bratty dongsaeng the whole time. Now alone in the kitchen, the cat decided to look around the apartment that he had been brought to. It wasn’t like he had anything better to do.
The apartment was rather simple in design. The kitchen and living room were both a fair size, separated by only a half wall so that one could be in the kitchen and still know what was going on in the living room. A short hall lead to the bathroom and two bedrooms. The doors where closed to two of those rooms, so the only room that the cat could explore was a bedroom. Hyuk was in that room, working on something on his laptop, so the cat figured that this was the younger’s room.
Silently, the cat watched the human work. Sanghyuk didn’t pay the feline any mind, something that the cat was thankful for. Others – like Hakyeon – would pester him, try and get him to play or something. He didn’t want to do that, to interact with people, but this human made things easy.
“Oh,” Sanghyuk startled slightly when he turned around to find the cat watching him, “are you hungry?” the cat let out a soft mew, never one to turn down a free meal. “Then come on, I’ll get you something to eat.”
After feeding the cat, Sanghyuk returned to his paper. The cat watched from the bed, silently wondering when the human intended to eat himself. However, Sanghyuk didn’t stop working until he was done and even then he just crawled into his bed and fell asleep. The cat laid down beside the human, watching with concern until he fell asleep himself.
--
Sanghyuk groaned in his sleep, absentmindedly trying to push the weight on his chest off. He figured that it was just the cat – which Hakyeon had named Leo – because that was what the cat had been doing all month since he came. However, his hand didn’t meet with fur. Instead it met with skin and he let out another groan, thinking that Hakyeon had taken his clingy habits to a new level. Opening his eyes, Sanghyuk bit back the scream of fear.
It wasn’t Hakyeon lying on his chest, but a young man with midnight black hair that fell to just below his chin and dark, intense eyes
“You’re awake,” the man said, eyes locked on Sanghyuk’s, “now you can feed me.”
“What?” was all Sanghyuk managed to get out before he noticed four things about the man.
One, the man had a pair of black cat ears resting on the top of his head. Two, he had a long, furry tail that was swishing back and forth behind him. Three, around his neck was the collar that Hakyeon had brought home for Leo a few days after the cat had dome home. Four, the man was as as the day he was born.
This time, Sanghyuk really did scream.
A/N: who saw the ‘cat’ theme and went “she’s totally going to write Luck”? I was it in the back of my mind that I should do something different, but *shrug* the theme was ‘cat’. Remember, I'll be taking next week off, but i'll be back the week after that
