“My lord,” Sanghyuk looked up from his conversation with the head of his guardsmen.

“What is it?” Sanghyuk questioned, looking between the guard and the young beggar boy following close behind him.

“I found this.....boy,” the guard hissed, “going through the royal trash.”

“Oh,” Sanghyuk nodded in understanding. Actually, his understanding of the situation was probably different from the guard but......details.

“I’m sorry,” the beggar dropped to his knees, “I was just so hungry......please don’t kill me.”

“Why would I do that?” Sanghyuk questioned, “you’ve done nothing wrong.”

“Huh?” everyone blinked. Well, aside from the head guard since he was well used to this kind of response from the emperor.

“You’re poor?” Sanghyuk questioned, “then come work here. I’m sure we can find a position for you.”

The beggar, Jaehwan, nodded. He was unable to form words to cover how happy he was. The young ruler was so kind, so wonderful.

Jaehwan felt his cheeks heat up as he realized that he had a crush on the young king he’d only known for a few minutes.

A/N: wow, so..........not my best, but.....toying with the idea of doing a long version of this
