“Hyuk!” Ken called, trying to chase after the younger, “Come back!”
Hyuk didn’t reply, he just kept walking ahead. It sent a shiver up Ken’s spine.
“Ken!” Leo roared, “Stop him! Before he gets away!”
“R-Right,” Ken nodded, doing his best to cut down the monsters that rushed to block his way.
“Hyuk!” he heard Ravi calling from farther back, “don’t go!”
“He can’t hear you,” Leo reminded, “we need N. He’ll be able to snap him out of it.”
Ken tried to suppress the flash of anger he felt over that, but knew that it was true. N would be able to get Hyuk back, free him from whatever had overtaken him. As much as he wanted it to be him who could help Hyuk…….
Ken had no idea what had happened to Hyuk, but he could make a guess. It had to be several months ago when he’d taken Hyuk off to explore a strange temple that their group had been passing. They’d gotten separated and when Ken finally found him, Hyuk was standing before a book bound in black and pages blank.
Ken recalled the empty look in Hyuk’s eyes before he’d grabbed his hand. But then Hyuk had smiled brightly at him and they returned to the others where N and Leo chewed them out for wandering off. Things had been normal at first, but then...........
“Hyuk!” Ken shouted, charging forewords the second he saw an opening.
Ken tackled the younger to the ground, silently praying that he wouldn’t be too hard to hold down. Just until N could get there and help.
“Let go,” Hyuk said, voice empty of emotion, “I must go.”
“Go where?” Ken questioned, “Why?”
“I have the power to stop all of this,” Hyuk replied, “The power to kill all of these monsters in one go. I can save the lives of hundreds, keep thousands from joining those already dead. I asked the book for this power and it gave me what I wished.”
Ken fell silent, shocked by this information. Asking for the power to save everyone……that was such a Hyuk move. Ken should have realized that. The monsters that their group fought every day had taken so many people from Hyuk…...it was only natural that he’d want to kill all the monsters that walked the earth.
Ken’s shock allowed Hyuk a chance to break free of the hold Ken had on him. The second Hyuk was free, he took off and left Ken far behind.
“Dang it Ken!” Ravi yelled, “How could you let him go?”
“Get him back,” Leo ordered, “don’t let him do anything crazy.”
“Right,” Ken nodded before rushing off to get Hyuk.
--
“I’m here!” N called, rushing to join Leo and Ravi in battle.
“Same,” Hongbin smiled, cutting down any monsters that got between him and Ravi.
“Where is Hyuk?” N asked once he was close enough to talk to Leo without yelling, “I don’t see him.”
“He headed to the temple at the top of the hill,” Leo explained, “there’s some kind of power that’s taken over him, the power to end all of this fighting. I think--.”
Leo didn’t get to finish before the monsters started to drop one by one.
“What’s going on?” Ravi questioned.
“They’re all dead,” Hongbin scowled.
“…….no,” Leo turned to the temple which had a glow around it. A glow that was slowly fading away.
“Hyuk,” N cried, rushing forewords. The others fell into step not far behind him.
They found Ken sitting on his knees before Hyuk who’d collapsed on the ground. N gave a strangled cry before rushing to Hyuk’s side.
“N?” Hyuk’s whispered, voice just above a whisper, “that you?”
“Yeah,” N nodded, tears streaming down his face, “it’s me, Hyukkie.”
“Sorry I’ve been a jerk these past few weeks,” Hyuk smiled slightly, “I just…..got tunnel vision I guess.”
“It’s alright,” N assured him, “I can forgive that. But if you leave me now…..that I can’t forgive.”
“Don’t think I can,” Hyuk sighed, looking down at his feet which had started to fade and knew that soon his whole existence would disappear.
“Hyuk,” N sobbed, hugging Hyuk tighter to his chest, “please don’t go. Please stay with me.”
“I love you,” Hyuk whispered before fading completely, “always will.”
N broke down completely, wishing that he could vanish too. Their friends watched, unable to say or do anything to help.
A/N: oh, I know I’m gonna get yelled at for this.
