Hyuk cried out in pain, body hitting the floor with an audible snack. Ravi fought the urge to rush to his lover, to comfort him and hurt whoever dared harm him. But if he did any of that Hyuk would get upset. It had been Hyuk’s choice to learn how to fight from Leo and he’d stressed to Ravi that he wasn’t to get involved. Hyuk knew exactly what training with Leo included when he asked the second oldest vampire to help him.
“We’re done for the night,” N called out, yawning slightly, “why don’t we pick this up tomorrow?”
“You did well,” Leo commented, helping Hyuk to his feet, “your speed and defenses are improving.”
“Still not good enough to get a hit in, though,” Hyuk frowned, looking both ashamed and frustrated with himself.
“That will come in time,” Leo assured him before heading off for bed.
“How do you feel?” Ravi asked, rushing to Hyuk’s side once Leo and N had left the room and looking his lover over carefully, “nothing broken?”
“I think one of my ribs was broken,” Hyuk sighed, “but it should be healed by now.”
“You don’t have to keep doing this,” Ravi said, brushing Hyuk’s hair back lovingly, “or you could ask for someone else to train you.”
“No,” Hyuk frowned, “I need to do this and Leo is the strongest of all of us.”
“That doesn’t make him the best person to train you,” Ravi argued, “Ken or Hongbin would be much better. Or even--.”
“Even you, right?” Hyuk scowled, “Ravi, I want to do this. Please stop trying to change my mind.”
“I don’t want you to get hurt,” Ravi snapped, “you can’t expect me to see you get beaten up each night and be fine with it.”
“Then don’t watch,” Hyuk snapped back, “I didn’t ask for you to come here and watch. So don’t come.”
“I come because I care,” Ravi countered, yelling by this point, “I care if your bones get broken or if you bleed.”
“I’m done,” Hyuk moved back, hands raised, “this argument…..I’m done.”
“What the hell do you mean you’re done?” Ravi asked, trying to calm down and not succeeding.
“I’m not going to change my mind on this,” Hyuk sighed, “and you aren’t going to change your mind either. So I’m ending this argument now.”
“How?” Ravi questioned, “By never bringing it up again?”
“I don’t know,” Hyuk sighed again, “but……I’m going. I need to clear my head. Ken said something about a hunting trip, I think I’ll go with him.”
“I’ll come, too,” Ravi said, moving to follow Hyuk as the younger started to leave the room.
“No,” Hyuk turned, pushing Ravi away, “you stay here. I….I need to be alone for a while to think.”
“Over this?” Ravi scoffed, “that’s stupid.”
“Not just this,” Hyuk flashed him a sad smile, “we fight over everything lately. Maybe it’s because we’ve spent too much time together lately, or maybe we’ve just hit a rough patch in our relationship. Maybe…..maybe all this fighting is because we aren’t meant to be together. I just need a few days to think and decide what I’m going to do.”
Ravi stood there, frozen, as Hyuk left the room in search of Ken. It was true, they had been fighting a lot lately over every little thing. Ravi hadn’t given it much thought, but Hyuk apparently had. Maybe he was right and they just needed some time to calm down and think. They did spend every waking moment together, so maybe that was the problem.
Or maybe they weren’t meant to be together.
That last thought sent a horrible flash of pain through Ravi’s heart.
That couldn’t be it. They’d been thought so much together. Hyuk almost dying and losing his memories for a while. Ravi deciding he was done with that Hyuk only for the Hyuk he loved to return a few weeks later. Hyuk almost dying once again after being badly beaten and Ravi saving him with his blood.
Ravi couldn’t imagine them not being together and he hoped that Hyuk decided he felt the same by the time he came home.
A/N: I’m just gonna *inching away* BYE! *runs*
