Hyuk woke up panting, eyes wide open and hand flying to his lips to make sure that they weren’t covered in blood. His head fell back against the pillows and he gave a hollow laugh. Of course it hadn’t been real, Ravi would never allow for him to return to that blood lusting creature he had been before his memories had started to return. It was all just a dream, a nightmare created by the darkest parts of his mind.

“Hyukkie,” Ravi mumbled, half asleep and blindly reaching out for his lover, “you alright?”

“Fine,” Hyuk lied, rolling around so that he was facing Ravi, “I’m alright. Just a bad dream.”

“Then you aren’t fine,” Ravi frowned, opening his eyes so he could see the scared look in the younger’s eyes, “not even close.”

“I’ll have to learn to be fine,” Hyuk pouted slightly, “I need to stop waking you up.”

“It doesn’t bother me,” the older sighed, wrapping his arms around Hyuk’s hips, “I like knowing that you look to me for help. It makes me feel needed.”

“I always need you,” Hyuk pointed out, “you keep me sane.”

“You keep yourself sane,” Ravi replied.

“Then you give me a reason to stay sane,” Hyuk bit back a growl of annoyance, “without you, I’d have given into the blood lust. I’d still be like what I was after I was turned.”

“You would never let that happen,” Ravi tried to argue, tried to convince Hyuk that he wouldn’t slip back into the thing he once was.

“If you say so,” Hyuk replied, but the older vampire could tell that he wasn’t buying it.

“It doesn’t matter,” Ravi finally sighed, “I’m never going to leave you, so you’ll always have a reason to stay sane.”

“Good,” Hyuk curled up closer to his lover, “I don’t want to lose you.”

What Hyuk didn’t tell Ravi was what had happened in his dream. He hadn’t just been killing innocent people, he’d killed Ravi. It had felt so real and that scared Hyuk more than giving into the blood lust. He couldn’t figure out any reason why he would rip open his lover’s throat, but the idea that he might one day do something like that scared him more than words.

“I’ll never let that happen,” Ravi whispered into Hyuk’s hair, “I’ll never leave you. I love you too much.”

“I love you too,” Hyuk whispered, tilting his head up to capture Ravi’s lips, “more than anything else in the world.”

A/N: poor Hyukkie. He should realize that he’ll never go back to what he was. and he shouldn’t be scared of killing – or even hurting – Ravi ‘cuz that will never happen *she says even though she’s entertaining the idea of doing exactly that right now*
