Ravi wasn’t exactly clear on what happened.

One moment everything had been fine. The next moment was filled with screams and cries of pain. it was filled with shattered glass flying through the air and the feeling of the car moving, spinning thanks to the force of the crash . It was filled with the sound of metal being crushed and twisted as it connected with more metal. Ravi had a new least favorite sound; metal scraping against metal while his group mates, his friends, screamed and cried in pain.

One voice he didn’t hear, however, was Hyuk’s.

The youngest had been with him and Hongbin in the back. The rapper had been on the driver’s side while Hyuk was on the passenger’s side with Hongbin in the middle. In front of them were Leo and Ken, Leo right behind them manager while Ken was behind N. N, of course, was in the passenger seat sitting shotgun. Ravi could hear N and their manager asking if everyone was alright and Ken’s pained groans. He could hear Leo’s normally quiet voice raised as he responded to N and their manager, asking them if they were alright as well. He could hear Hongbin trying to get Hyuk to say something. But he couldn’t hear Hyuk.

Looking over, Ravi felt his heart stop and his breath freeze.

Hyuk’s seat had taken most of the impact. The maknae’s seat was shoved tightly against the back of Ken’s seat and Ravi could make out Hyuk’s left leg pinned between the two. He couldn’t see his right leg. The impact had also pushed Hyuk against Hongbin. In fact, the whole back seat was pressed against each other as tightly that Ravi couldn’t move without hitting Hongbin or the window. The windows were shattered, glass lying all over the place. Most concerning were the pieces of glass that had cut Hyuk’s skin – especially his face.

The thing that really made Ravi scared was the sharp piece of metal that had once been part of the window frame. The impact had broken it off and bent it. Now, there were several other parts of the metal frame of the car that were now broken and bent. What made this part so terrifying to Ravi was that it was bent in Hyuk’s direction and had blood on it. A lot of it.

Ravi sat at Hyuk’s bedside, waiting for the younger to wake up.

N, Leo, and their manager were mostly just bruised and shaken from the accident since they hadn’t been so close to the point of impact. Ken had a broken arm thanks to the impact and the doctor had made him were a neck brace to be safe. Hongbin had mostly just suffered some cuts and bruises, but his wrist would be in a brace for the next few weeks. Ravi was similar in condition, but instead of a wrist injury he’d suffered a concussion from hitting his head against the window.

Hyuk was by far the worse. His right leg was in a cast and his neck was in a brace like Ken’s. His right shoulder had been dislocated in the accident, so it was now bandaged accordingly. His face and arms were covered in bandages thanks to all the glass. The piece of metal had done the most damage, cutting into Hyuk’s side so deeply that it managed to puncture one of his lungs. The doctor hadn’t been shy about explaining to the group how deadly an injury like that could have been. Thankfully the doctors had fixed that problem.

Now Ravi was sitting beside Hyuk’s bed, waiting for the maknae to wake up.

“Hyukkie,” Ravi whispered, grabbing Hyuk’s good hand and bringing it to his lips, “please wake up. Please come back to us. Come back to me.”

The doctor assured him that Hyuk would wake up, but Ravi was too terrified of losing Hyuk to care what the doctor said. Even if it was just sedatives keeping Hyuk asleep, Ravi wasn’t going to feel comfortable until Hyuk was awake.

“Hyung,” Hyuk muttered, the word coming out a jumbled mess thanks to the medication numbing Hyuk’s body and brain, “what happened?”

“Hyukkie,” Ravi smiled, breathing a deep sigh of relief. Hyuk was awake, he was ok, and Ravi could finally breathe again for the first time in what felt like days.

“Hyung,” Hyuk said, his words slowly becoming clearer as he woke up and the fog cleared from his mind, “where are we?”

“We’re at the hospital,” Ravi explained, “we were in an accident. Do you remember?”

“I remember a lot of pain,” Hyuk tried to recall, “and the hyungs screaming. Is everyone alright?”

“Yeah,” Ravi nodded, getting up so he could kiss Hyuk’s lips, “everyone is alright now, Hyukkie.”
