Vampires have been killed off the earth. Humans killed them in order to protect their own kind. Vampires, you see, are very protective of the one they mate. Any glance, any look, any stare will send them into a burning rage. Increased healing rate, senses, speed, and strength combined with powers of illusion made it difficult. Forests were destroyed to gather their one fatal weakness. Vampires were soon removed from the earth, and wars stopped to being back the life. I say earth for the few vampires that remain. Six actually. I know. I'm one of them.
