I silently leaned against the car next to Kris who had his arms crossed over his chest while his eyes were focused on Suho standing by the tree. He had brought me here to give some time for the latter and his friends to pay their respects. Apparently, today was her 5th year death anniversary and all the bosses had took half the day off to visit her. I heard him let out a deep breath before turning to my husband. "You don't have to tell me if you're no comfortable with it, you know." I told him.
The truth is, despite the curiousity I feel, I didn't want to pressure him into anything. Deep down, I trust him since he is my husband and since we agreed to make this marriage work, I am willing to put my whole trust on this man. Kris turned his head to me and silently stared at me for so long that it made me squirm. "I was in love with her," he suddenly said when I thought he was definitely going to drop the subject. I wasn't surprised, to be honest. I suspected it. But somehow, it still made my heart tightened.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked. "Do you... still love her?" I asked. I didn't know why, but I just did. I heard him chuckle and turned to him, my insides doing somersaults when I saw the small smile on his face. My God...
"Don't worry, that was a long time ago. I let her go the moment she left." he told me and I frowned. "What do you mean?" Kris sighed and suddenly grabbed my hand; luckily I was used to all his touch or else I'm sure I would've blushed furiously the moment our skin made contact. "I loved her, but she didn't love me."
"...oh."
Kris chuckled at me before entertwining our fingers together. Only then did I realize that we've been standing so close to each other that his left shoulder was pressing onto my right. It was as if he was leaning his body to mine for support and I'm not about to disappoint him. So I squeezed his hand gently and he smiled softly in response. The contact felt nice and I smiled softly to myself.
"So, what actually happened?" I asked, bringing us back to the topic.
"Well, there was this senior of ours. They eloped, leaving us all behind disappointed because we were all friends yet she decided to just leave without our knowledge and get married behind our backs." Kris sighed. "Suho was brokenhearted because she was the only sibling he has, meanwhile I was rejected before I could even told her my feelings."
He then chuckled darkly to himself. "But that bastard was never good to her. I don't know what she sees in him, seriously. Now, look at where she is. Ten feet underground, alone and probably regretting her decision."
"How did she die?" I couldn't help but ask. She didn't die in her husband's hands, did she?
"Car accident. That bastard dared to drive when he was drunk." Kris answered bitterly. "Because of him, she's dead yet he managed to escape death, even though barely." "Where is he now?" Kris sighed and shrugged. "Don't know, don't care."
Silence filled us and I took the time to think about the things he just told me. I glanced at him from the side and noticed that he seems angry, but most of all, regretful.
"Maybe... she didn't regret it." I commented quietly after a while and he turned to me with a deep frown. I sighed. "She must've loved him, which was why she was willing to just frop everything and elope with him. You see, love is blind, Kris. I'm sure you know that. Maybe despite the fact that he was bad to her, she loved him and she didn't regret marrying him."
Kris stared blankly at me before absentmindedly nodding his head. I know he didn't really agree with my statement, but I believe she had loved her husband and regretted nothing.
"So now you know about Hyosung, what do you think?"
Haru turned to Luhan briefly before turning her attention back to Kris who was talking quietly with Suho. She heaved a breath and turned back to the man. "I have a question." Luhan nodded, telling her to proceed. "Is that why Kris... changed?" The man scoffed
