Chapter Thirteen

Tao knew he smell trouble the moment he saw a familiar figure walking through the lobby before entering the elevator. He frowned and hurried to the front desk where she had just stood, suprising the staff behind the counter with his presence. "M-Mr. Huang?" "Where is that lady headed?" he went straight to the point but the staff was confused. "Lady, sir?" Tao sighed. "The one who looks like she's about to walk down a fashion runway." he deadpanned, causing the staff to stiffle her giggle. Noticing the grim look on his face, she struggled to maintain her expression before saying, "She wanted to see Ms. Song from the Finance Department, sir." He cursed under his breath, thanked her and rushed to the elevators.

Kris was in the middle of a discussion with Kyungsoo when Tao called, sounding alarmed and frantic. "Yah, Chaerin is here and she's in Haru's office!" Tao shouted over the line. Kris immediately shot out of his seat and rushed out of his office, ignoring the surprise calls by Kyungsoo. He ran down the flight of stairs to the 30th floor, followed by Kyungsoo and went straight to Haru's office. On the way, they bumped into Luhan's assistant who looked alarmed. When he got there, his heart felt like it dropped when he saw her weak figure on the floor. Even though he was angry at his ex-girlfriend, he rushed to his fiancé with worried thoughts, kneeling down and checking up on her. With a small groan, Haru went unconcious in his arms, scaring the young CEO. He quickly gathered her in his arms, stopping for a moment to stare at Chaerin who was struggling against Tao's strong hold.

He registered the words Chaerin were yelling at him, but feeling the weight in his arms, Kris turned to the door and rushed out, trusting Tao to deal with the problem. He rushed to the car with Kyungsoo at his tail, securely lying her down at the back seat before climbing in and resting her head on his lap. He her hair softly as Kai drove to the hospital, unaware of Kyungsoo's eyes watching his every move. 

Luhan

I rushed to the hospital when I found out what had happened. I was at a meeting outside with Chanyeol when it happened, and we rushed to the hospital when Kai informed us through our group chat. When I arrived, Haru was already placed in a room to rest and I found Kai and Kyungsoo standing at the hallway. I ran to them with Chanyeol behind me and they turned to us when they spotted our presence. "Where is she? Is she okay?" I asked, out of breath due to all the running. "She's fine." Kyungsoo replied. "She's inside with Kris." he told me as he glanced at the closed door.

I felt my chest tightened upon the mention of his name but I was quick to cover it with a nod, muttering a relief that she was okay. "How'd it happen?" Chanyeol asked. Kai sighed. "Apparently, Chaerin dropped by and attacked her." he informed us and my eyes widened at this piece of info. Chaerin's the one behind this? "Haru seemed to have gotten a fever before Chaerin attacked her," Kyungsoo added. "She couldn't fight back since she was weak." I sighed at this. "But she's okay now?" I asked and Kai nodded. "She woke up a while ago but she's weak. She still needs rest. The doctor said she'll be discharged this evening. They just want to monitor her current condition for now."

I nodded. I heard Chanyeol sigh from beside me. "And Chaerin?" he asked. "Tao dealt with her. He had securities drag her out of the building." Kyungsoo said. "Kris is super pissed after what happened," Kai suddenly said. "What'd he do?" the tall giant asked, taking the question right out of my mouth. "He reported her to the police and she was charged for assault." I scoffed at this. "There goes her modelling career." I said and they smirked in unison. "She should've thought about it before she attacks someone," Kai scoffed. "Especially when that someone is related to Kris ing Wu." Chanyeol added with a grin.

We all turned to the door when it opened, revealing Kris who looked livid. "What's wrong?" Chanyeol asked. Kris heaved a sigh, trying to calm himself before turning to Chanyeol. "Nothing." he replied. "That doesn't look like nothing," I said. He looked at me and sighed. "It's none of your business, Luhan." "How's Haru?" Kyungsoo asked, changing the subject. "She's fine. She's resting now." he told him. "Did you call Mrs. Song?" the big-eyed male asked again, and Kris's jaw tightened before he shook his head. I raised my brow at this. "Why not?"

"She told me not to." What? Why? "Chanyeol, go back to the office and make sure to let everyone know that if I catch anyone talking about this matter, they will be fired without question." Chanyeol nodded and Kris turned to Kyungsoo next. "Get her things at the office and have it sent to my condo." he told him and he nodded. "Get someone to send me my car by six." he ordered and Kai was quick to fish out his phone to text somone. "I've informed Suho that he's in charge till I get back." he told us and we nodded in understanding. "Now, get back to work. It's still office hours." 

Without any word, Kris disappeared back into the room. Chanyeol nudged me by the side and I followed him out of the hospital. On the way back to the office, I couldn't help but think about Haru; wondering about her condition. She must've felt scared when Chaerin attacked her. I sighed and turned my gaze out of the window, letting Chanyeol do all the talking.

Kris

I can't believe what I'm hearing. She wants me to drop all charges and forget everything that happened? I scoffed and ran a hand through my hair, frustrated at her actions. "Why would you do that?" I asked and she weakly blinked. She had just woken up and asked me what had happened, and when I reminded about the event and what I had done, she panicked and told me that she didn't want to press any charges on my ex-girlfriend. "Just do it. Please..." she weakly begged, her voice hardly audible to my ears. But I still heard her and I sighed at her stubbornness. "I'm not going to drop the charges, Haru." I told her and she sighed. "But-" "No buts." I told her. "We're done talking about this."

She closed her eyes and I thought she had fallen asleep when she didn't opened them, so I was surprised when I heard her hoarse and weak voice in the hospital room. "If you drop it, I promise I'll tell you about the relationship I have with my mother." she said and I raised my eyebrow, finding interest in her offer. But I thought it all over again and shook my head firmly, causing her to groan. "I don't care, Haru. I'll get you to tell me about that one day, but I'm not dropping the charges.
