the words to my empty pages

story by misstalkytalk -

"Life is like a book. Some chapters are sad, some are happy, and some are exciting, but if you never turn the page, you will never know what the next chapter holds."

"Life is like a book with many different chapters. Some tell of tragedy, others of triumph. Some chapters are dull and exciting. The key to being a success in life is to never stop on a difficult page, to never quit on a tough chapter. Champions have the courage to keep turning the pages because they know a better chapter lies ahead."

They say that every book has its own author. Every book has its own shelf. Every book has a reader but for her, she didn't have any of them. To him she was like a book. A book that was never given a chance to shine, a book that wouldn't turn its pages, a book that sealed a lock on itself. She was like a book that kept many secrets, a book that didn't have the courage for others to know about her. A book that didn't know where the chapters would lead her. She was a lonely book, one without an author, a reader, or a shelf to stay on.

He was just a normal boy, wanting to finish high school peacefully. She was just a girl living a life full of lies, wanting her high school life to finish peacefully. He wanted to stay low and not have any relationships with anyone. She wanted everyone to forget her after they graduate. He was attending school because of a scholarship. She was attending school because she was rich. Two opposite people that had no relationship with each other met one day. It wasn't unexpected, he expected it to happen. He didn't approach her on purpose, it just somehow happened. He never thought someone like her would even reply to him but she did. She never expected him to approach her but he did. But when their paths crossed, a journey was waiting for them. A journey both of them never expected. One by one, the chapters awaits for them ahead.

kim jongin.

Kim Jongin was his real name but he went by Kai. Well at least at school he did. He wasn't nerdy, he wasn't popular, he wasn't the class president, he was Kim Jongin, the eighteen year old boy that sat in the back of the class. Kai wasn't cold or mean, he was actually quite nice. He was smart, top of his class, but he preffered to stay low. He had the talents for dancing, the looks of a model, he was a whole package but he didn't show it, not even one bit. He didn't hide behind glasses or cover his face with his hair, he just acted like a normal boy. Kai was from the country side, going to the best high school in Seoul because of a scholarship. All he wants to do is complete high school quietly and peacefully without any relationships with anyone. But everything changed when he got involved with her. He became her author.

jung soojung.

Krystal Jung was the name she went by. No one called her by her real name, Soojung. She was Miss. Popular, the face of the school, the girl everyone wanted to date. All the girls admired her, some jealous of her, and all the boys loved her. Well most of them. She had the voice of an angel, the looks of a model, the brains, she had everything. Money, cars, bags, shoes, clothes, literally everything. But she lived a life full of lies. Lies that she created herself, afraid of getting hurt and abandoned by the people at school. Afraid her reputation and image would be ruin. Don't get her wrong though, she was nice, sweet as an angel, but she was scared as if she was trapped. When things go wrong, she had no one to go to. But one person helped her, since then she became his story, his book.

the words to my empty pages

story by misstalkytalk -

I'm not in love with her, I don't hate her, I just simply pay attention to her. It wasn't long ago when I first met her. The day wasn't too hot or too cold, but there was a slight breeze. But because of the AC on the bus, I realized who she was. She was popular, that's how you could describe her. She was the face of the school, the beauty, the princess, the talented one, it never stops. She was the opposite of me. Everyone knew her, no one knew me. Her talents weren't hidden, mine were. But do people really know her? Do they really know who she is? She's like a book. The type of book that people only look at the cover of. They never take the time to read the pages inside, they just simply like the cover. For me, I ignore the cover. She was a book I can read over and over. A book I know from page to page. That book doesn't know that I want to read it though. It doesn't know that I exist. Why do I know about it? How do I know about it? All I know is how I found the book. The pages inside? I don't know why I even bothered to read it.

The sound of an alarm clock was heard from a normal size apartment as a hand slammed it, causing it to stop. Sitting up, a groan escaped the owner's mouth as he made his way into the bathroom. The apartment wasn't too big or too small. It had a bedroom, a small living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. That's all he needed after all. After changing into his uniform, he took a glance in the mirror, fixing it up a bit.

"Kim Jongin, you're going to be late if you're this slow." He told himself before reaching for his backpack and heading out the room.

His eyes were on the rice cooker that wouldn't finish cooking. Checking his watch, he quickly put on his shoes as he ran out the apartment and towards the bus stop. He bowed to everyone that he passed by. A young boy, the grandson of a small convenient store, stopped him.

"Kai Hyung, take this," the boy smiled, handing him two bottles of banana milk and a bag of snacks. Kai simply thanked him before proceeding towards the bus stop, not too far anymore.

Who exactly was Kim Jongin aka Kai? He was a normal boy from the countryside that moved up to Seoul for an education. A responsible man that doesn't like bothering his family, who stayed behind. He was smart and talented, but he never showed it. He was quiet and to himself. He wanted nothing more than to live peacefully and graduate high school.

A small yawn escaped his lips as he sat down on the bench, his eyes closing a bit before hearing footsteps not too far away. There she was, the book was standing right there. Kai glanced at her, examining her like he did every morning. Don't get mistaken, he wasn't a stalker or anything, it just became a habit. She never really noticed him, and he didn't mind because Kai simply didn't need attention. But because he knew too much about her, he ended up giving her the attention. She was standing there with her uniform and hair made perfectly. Like usual, she was glancing back and forth to make sure no one from their school saw her. Of course she didn't know Kai was sitting there, no one ever did. Why is she doing these things? She's living a life full of lies, that's all Kai knew.

The sound of the bus stopping, interrupted his thoughts as he saw her run into the bus. Walking slowly inside, he took a seat not too far from her. She was looking out the window quietly, not noticing anything going on around her. Unlike usual, the bus wasn't too crowded today so it was a good thing. Actually, ever since she came on the bus, the bus wasn't that busy. Oh yes, she didn't come on the bus before. She started coming on it a couple weeks ago. Kai's reaction towards it was him being pretty speechless. School started three months ago and when he got there, her name was everywhere. She was the richest girl in school, the girl everyone wanted to be friends with. Her personality? He didn't know what was real or fake. But just a few weeks ago, something happened with her family, Kai knew exactly what happened. Everyone else? They didn't know. Why? She didn't tell. But how did Kai find out then? Unlike other people he doesn't believe the lies and actually finds out the truth. The day she came on the bus, he knew that the things he found out was right. She moved not too far away from his place, about a twenty minute walk. At least it wasn't far to him. Her place was more expensive than his own but her's was less than what she use to own. A lot less. She took the same bus stop as Kai for a reason. That reason was to not bump into anyone at school who would see her.

Kai stepped out of the bus to see her coming off last. She waited while hiding herself as the bus disappeared. Hearing her let out a sigh, she continued to walk towards the school. Kai was following her quietly, it was his school too. The two made their way into the gate, no where close to each other. Before Kai could walk anymore, the soccer team bumped into him, making him drop his snacks and drinks. It was normal, they always did that when she came. They wanted her attention. Her friends ran to her, squealing and hugging her.

"What took you so long?"

"Where's your car?"

"Did you walk here?" They all asked at the same time as she smiled a bit and kept walking inside the school. Her so called friends kept asking her. They asked her everyday to be exact. Everyday she answered differently.

"My car is still getting fixed. My dad took me to school. I was dropped off over there." It was the same thing over and over. But today, she was quiet.

Kai made his way into the classroom. He placed his things down and sat at his desk, something he did everyday. He came early, while the other students ran in right when the bell rang. One of them was her. She sat next to him, on his left. Kai's seat was near the wall of the door. She was always surrounded by boys and girls. Boys because she was pretty and talented, girls because she was rich. Was, that was the key word. Class started and like always most of the kids fell asleep. The so called cool kids would bully some while others just wanted to go home. Kai was studying quietly while glancing around at times. His notes were neat, everything was the way he wanted it to be. His peacefulness stop when her pen rolled towards him.

"Can you pass me that?" She asked. It was the first time she ever spoke to him. He wasn't sure if she ever noticed him around but he was sure she didn't.

"Sure." Kai replied as he reached for it. Before he could, the kingka leader and captain of the soccer team, Minho, grabbed it and gave it to her.

"Thanks." The girl smiled before working again. Kai wasn't embarrassed, he didn't care. Shrugging to himself, his eyes went back to his work before he yawned and fell asleep.

It was lunch time and as usual her table was crowded. She was Miss. Popular after all. Kai sat down by himself like usual while eating and letting his eyes wander around. It suddenly stopped when he saw the enemy. Not his enemy, hers. There was no one that hated her more than the girl that was making her way down the hall. Her name was Choi Jinri, known as Sulli. She was the captain of the cheerleading squad, ranked two in the class. The book and Kai were ranked one but no one knew Kai was there. Her steps were quick and she always had something up her sleeve, along with her group of annoying girls. They stopped in front of the book as Sulli smiled. It was going to be bad and Kai knew it. Sulli always seemed to find out the truth about things. Kai didn't blame her, she was the daughter of a big news company.

"Didn't you say your father just worked with a top designer and your new backpack was coming today?" Sulli asked with a smirk as everyone remembered and looked at the book.

"I... It was delayed," she replied while looking down. "Delayed?" Sulli laughed. "For how long? Everything you do and say never comes true. Are you hiding something?" She asked, looking closely at the girl.

"Choi Jinri, things happen," Minho replied.

"They do, don't they?" Sulli raised her eyebrow at the girl. "I'm watching you." She whispered before the girl stood up and excused herself.

She left her tray of food that wasn't touched. Her food was never touched. Kai always noticed she could never eat because they were always taking up her time. They also always seemed to give her too much food or even offer to do things for her. Kai's eyes followed her as she ran outside. Kai made his way towards the school garden, a place where no one really goes to but him. He went there for peace. Opening the door and walking down the quiet sidewalk, he stopped as his eyes landed on the bench. She was sitting there, biting her bottom lip and wiping her eyes. His footsteps were soft as he walked towards the bench and sat down next to her. A gasp left as she scooted away and looked at him.

"You?" She asked as Kai glanced at her. He gave her a blank look before looking away at his backpack. "Kim Jongin, right?"

"Kai." He corrected but she didn't hear him because she was too busy thinking about her own life. She looked at him, probably wondering why he was there. "I go here all the time. I'm not following you." He told her in a monotone before taking out his snacks and drinks. Seeing her look at it and covering her stomach so it wouldn't growl, Kai pushed the snacks and drinks towards her offering her to take it. She bowed a bit before reaching for a banana milk and a bag of chips as she ate slowly. He drank his own milk silently before looking over at her. The girl stopped eating and looked at him curiously.

"Is something wrong?" She asked.

"Why do you do this?" Kai questioned as she was slightly taken a back.

"What are you talking about?" She replied.

"You're someone you're not. You're hiding the truth and you're just telling lies. Your dad's company got bankrupted and they don't know. You're living in an apartment instead of a mansion. Your car got sold so you take the bus. Wait, the bus you take is the one for a neighborhood like mine, one someone like you would probably never take a step in. Why my bus stop? Because you won't be seen if you take that route. You're not rich anymore and you're having struggles at home." Kai told her without letting his eyes leave hers. There was fear in her eyes. He didn't mean to scare her, all he wanted to do was know her reasons.

"How do you know these things?" She asked, glaring at him. "Are you trying to ruin my life?!" She screamed before standing up. Kai stood up and shook his head softly.

"I'm not trying to do anything," Kai said, letting her glare at him. "I just want to know who you really are. There are stories, rumors, how can someone like me know the real you? I know your background but not the pages inside you. Everyone only looks at your cover, do they ever take the time to flip the pages like I do?" Kai asked.

"What are you trying to say?" She whispered softly. "You're living a life full of lies. It won't help you in the end. Just tell them." Kai advised.

"How would you know anything?" She asked as Kai raised an eyebrow. He knew what she was thinking. She probably thought he didn't know anything since she was once rich and he was never rich in his life. "You don't even know me." She muttered to him before placing the snack and drink down.

"No one knows you." Kai replied looking at her with his blank eyes. "But is anyone willing to anyways?" Kai asked before turning around as he started walking.

"What are you going to do?" She asked running to him and grabbing his arm. "Please don't tell anyone, I'm begging you." Kai watched her. She was begging. Why was she doing this? Did she really need all those people? Or was she crazy? Kai didn't even know anymore. He only passed the introduction of the book. The first page of the chapter was hard for him to read.

"Why are you begging me? Why do you need these kind of things?" Kai asked curiously with an eyebrow raised.

"Because I'm me." She replied, letting go of his arm. "I always need these kind of things. Because I'm Krystal Jung, and she turned out this way." She whispered before looking down.

author's note.

Hello, everyone! It's me again, misstalkytalk. Hopefully some of you recognize me from my other stories, Love Fooled Me, When You Fall In Love, Is This Really Love, No One Like You, Only One For Me, Memories Of You, As Time Goes By, It Has To Be You, Forever Your Last Love, Love's Forgotten Memories, and A Chance For Love. Wow. This is going to be my 12th story and it's going to be different from the rest if you haven't noticed. For the first time there are no supergeneration couples in this story but instead it focused on KaiStal. It is not a lot of dialogue like my other stories but instead more of a narration. Most of the story will be from Kai's perspective! It's been about a year since I've released a new story. I

know that I have four current ones but two of them are coming to a near end. I have wrote KaiStal before but they've never been the main character and this is their chance! I'm also using a layout for the first time so if anything looks weird don't blame me. I really hope you support me on this story. Please subscribe and comment below! Thank you for checking out the story and I'll put up the first chapter ASAP! Bye~

CREDITS TO SEOUL-DREAMER AT ROBOTIC DREAMS FOR THE WONDERFUL AND AMAZING POSTER. THANK YOU~
